Certainly everyone should eat healthier, but that's not reality today. So when you eliminate fast food, processed food, bread, sugar, fat, you end up with a variety of rabbit food. In essence you're scaring the bee gees out of someone who is trying to lose weight. You, in their mind are taking away their best friends,…

I have exercised for decades--typically Jazzercise--but I have been to gym's too. I HAVE NEVER seen anyone ridiculed or intimidated because they were overweight. Most people are happy you're there, trying to take it off. And many in a gym will help you if you have a question, and some may speak up to try and help you if…

Why are you on a diet that is so well known for eliminating certain food groups while bulking up on another, that is 98 percent guaranteed to lose weight quickly! then gain it back! plus some twice as fast as you lost it. And all this while clogging up your arteries at the same time? Let me guess--the promise of fast…

Something is definitely wrong, if you had a BMI that high you would weigh well over a 1000 lbs. But the good news is, I am your height and very close to my goal weight of 140, and my calories are set at 1240 a day. But you're younger and you exercise a lot more than I do. I do 1 hour of Jazzercise 3 times a week and burn…

You're not alone on this board there are many that have 100 pounds to lose and a lot more that have even more than that, Set mini goals 10 to 20 pounds at a time, then it won't seem so overwhelming. Remember 2 pounds a week is a 104 pounds a year. Remember to be patient the more weight you lose the slower it comes off as…

Weight loss surgery!! Your friends just want to continue their bad eating habits while packing on the pounds, then they'll decide when they want weight loss surgery. Unbelievable attitude. You might want to tell them to upload a show called "My 600 pound life," for some major motivation not to do that. After watching these…

It sounds like you're doing great with your soccer twice a week. So your weekends are left open for other types of exercise you enjoy doing. I know a lot of people on this board feel like they have to work out every single day, but that's simply not the case. 3 times a week to keep you in shape, 4 times a week will get you…

I still eat a Big Mac every now and then, but xnay on the fries. Really the best place for healthy eating in the fast food places is Subway, but again skip the chips and cookies, and have them load your sandwich up with the vegi's. You can eat anything you want as long as you stay within your calorie goal. A big lunch…

That happens to everyone, you have a huge list of friends and out of that list they'll pick people they more closely associate with. So I ended up with two friends out of the list that are watching what I am doing, LOL. No worries I just want to encourage everyone, no matter what their age, gender or how much weight they…

I have been using UP for several months now to track my steps and workouts. I plug it into my Android and it works great. I don't think the UP works well with I phones. My niece (an IPhone user) came in less than half of what I was showing and we were step to step.

If you have dropped 37 pounds, you may be getting closer to your goal weight, and it comes off much slower the closer you get. It's just in the math of losing weight. A person that was accustomed to eating 4 to 7 thousand calories a day that cuts back to less than 1500 is going to melt off pounds quickly, then it slows…

As long as you're eating a minimum of 1200 calories you should be fine. There is no requirement to eat back burned calories thru exercise. It just means you'll lose weight quicker. If you do plan on eating back exercise calories, a good rule of thumb is to never eat back more than 1/2 of them, as MFP and other electronic…

Muscles will do it. The more you have the more you burn. Your resting metabolism goes up.

First question, type 1 or 2.? 1 means you didn't do this to yourself, 2 means you did. If it's 2, then you have to ask yourself exactly "how tough are you,". Are you tough enough to go through the inevitable hunger pangs, are you tough enough to stay within your MFP calorie goal, are you tough enough to start moving more,…

You can add me, I have an open diary, and log in everyday. No diets for me, just portion control.

Anytime you work out you're burning calories.

Potato chips, French fries, wheat thins and other type snack crackers, cookies. Then 2 slices of bread turned into 1, servings of cake, ice cream etc, were cut in half. For all of the above, I changed to fresh fruit, low fat yogurt, all natural Skippy Peanut butter with honey, and no fat cottage cheeze.

I think a lot of women think they need to eat for two adults when they get pregnant, which creates a real weight problem after they have the baby. Many develop a eating pattern of way to many calories long after. And we see women, including on this board, who blame their obesity on their children--LOL. The fact is, you can…

I think most doctors have a very good sense about nutrition, but a dietician has the expertise.

MFP only recommends 2 pounds per week which is a little less than 1k. It doesn't matter that you're vegetarian, weight loss is simply calories in versus calories out. And a calorie is a calorie regardless if it comes from protein, fat or carbs. As far as exercise do anything you enjoy doing. Eat less, move more.
 -
When I do,it's only half of burned calories. MFP and other electronic devices have a history of overestimating calories burned, henceforth if you eat them all back, you could end up overeating your workouts.
 -
Stay within your MFP calorie goal and you'll be fine.

You do realize that Dr. Oz is all over the news right now for promoting products that promise weight loss, that don't work? One company is now getting sued and fined for 30 million dollars. Weight loss is simple math. Calories in versus calories out. No magic pills or potions, just common sense. Eat less, move more.

Eat the grapefruit. You're not going to make your goal every single day. No one does. You just want to make certain that the majority of days are good.
 -
In your case the idea is to consume the calories you're allotted on MFP, then if you wish, eat back 1/2 of those calories burned thru exercise. MFP and other electronic devices have a history of estimating too many calories burned that's why it's never a food idea to eat them all back, as you could end up overeating your…

Do what you are told, fitness trainers have a lot of experience, and know what you can handle, and the right way to do it, to keep you from injuring yourself.

"Peanut butter out of the jar, is the fit girls ice cream out of the pint." All natural, of course. I take a tablespoon or 2 of all natural skippy peanut butter with honey, and that satisfies the hunger pangs along with any sugar cravings you have.

I have a friend that had the same surgery, and she still wears a back brace. She attends our Jazzercise class and does low impact cardio, and light weights, but what she loves most is the exercise ball because it helps her to strengthen her back muscles, and is great for core strength also.

I always count my calories, it's the only thing that has worked for me.

I think when most people refer to a cheat day, they're talking about eating a slice if pizza, or something else they've been craving, a piece of cake, whatever, and it's not an all day all you can eat festival. After all in one single day you could easily be eating back all the calorie deficit you did during the rest of…
