Without knowing what sort of curry you are planning it is hard to say. Light tomato based sauces seem best with 'heavy' veg and heavy creamy sauces always seem best with lighter veg (personal preference I suspect, but that's the way they seem to make them in Asia) Sweet potatoes (or any root vegetable), cauliflower,…

I cycle all year round (currently in Singapore but used to cycle commute in Aberdeen summer, wind rain and snow). Almost exclusively road cycling at the moment but occasionally get out on Pulau Ubin for a little off road / trail riding if time and company allows.

Hi Pam Well done on joining; as you say, most people seem to run or lift here. I cycle because I love it and it's a great destressor after work. My job involves a lot of irregular hours (18 hour days are normal for up to three months at a time when we have a big opportunity in) and it often stops me riding for weeks at a…

The Fitbit program works a little differently than MFP. Expenditure is based on your predicted BMR plus how much you move. Your intake is calories consumed. No allowance for weight loss or gain adjustments is included in either of these numbers but will be included in the under / over calculation. To further complicate…

My goal for this month will be to get out every day if the PSI is below 130. Liquids are weighable, but you have to account for the specific gravity of the liquid you are weighing. Simply put, water typically has a specific gravity of 1; other liquids will vary. Lower specific gravity liquids would float on water (eg, olive oil) and higher specific gravity Iiquids would sink in water.…

I used to use a turbo trainer when I needed to cycle for physiotherapy, but that was so unlike road riding that I ended up giving it away and replacing it with rollers. Rollers are great for working on technique and balance, but can take a little getting used to but you need constant attention (at least to begin with or…
