I'm a bit older (hitting 30 this year), but feel free to add me! I'm always looking for lifting friends!

If you really hate strength training, I'd look into doing a full body program that you do 3 times a week. If you're a beginner, you can probably see major progress from just focusing on big, compound movements (squats, deadlifts, bench, rows, etc) in a 45min-1 hour full body workout. Programs like Starting Strength, New…

I just added you! Any other lady lifters / people interested in lifting, feel free to add me too

I'll add you! Anyone else can feel free to add me as well. FYI - for the past few months, I haven't been logging my workouts in MFP (only food) because I wanted to focus less on calories burned and more on my performance during the workouts. However, I miss having that log of activity and the community here on MFP. I want…

I second the Strong app. I love it! I was carrying a notebook around before using it. The only thing is I think it's only available for iPhones... I don't think it's on the Google Play store :disappointed:

I've been lifting regularly for a few years now and I love it! I'll send you a friend request, but anyone else looking for lifting friends please feel free to add me :)

I did work with a personal trainer for just a few sessions for help on my form and getting some basic moves down. I absolutely loved the trainer I worked with, but it's a lot of money and I felt I couldn't afford more than just a few sessions to get me started. I also bought and have VERY loosely followed New Rules of…

I know a lot of serious weight lifters are very anti-cardio, but I DO still do cardio! I genuinely enjoy cardio workouts like running and Zumba, plus it's good for your heart! However, I've definitely pulled back from doing 5-6 strictly cardio workouts a week to about 2. Remember, if you're lifting heavy enough and doing…

Definitely! I usually wear a heart rate monitor when I lift, and I know if my heart rate isn't up then I'm not pushing myself hard enough. I'm typically drenched with sweat by the end of my workouts!

Thanks so much! I call lifting "heavy" when I lift weights that I can only do about 8-10 reps of for 2-3 sets. I know a lot of people are fans of even lower reps with a few more sets (ex: 5x5), so I think it really comes down to what works best for you. I certainly don't lift "heavy" in comparison to some people - for…

When I first start getting serious about exercising and losing weight, I weighed close to 170lbs and wore a 38DD (I'm just shy of 5'6). I expected my chest to be one of the first areas I lost weight - it wasn't. It definitely it made it more a challenge to exercise, especially running. However, I invested in a good sports…

I think doing it twice a day is a great idea to boost your metabolism - but I would decrease how long / far you're going (for ex: two 20 minute sessions not two 40 minute sessions). If you're training for long distance / endurance, you'll want one long session... but for weight loss quick and frequent is often more…

Bump - anyone else have advice too?
-
I measure out everything, but I don't weight it. I'll definitely try using a scale instead!

Wow, amazing job! You look so fabulous. Can't wait to see your results in 2012!

Sorry! Forgot to quote ^ You're pretty close to me!

You're pretty close to me!

There's a few that looked close, but I didn't spot my twin yet! GW: 130 CW: 146 SW (pre MFP): 168 Height: 5'6 Age: 25 Feel free to add me! Especially if you have a similar goal!

Any advice?

Great job!!! What an accomplishment.

I used to wait to eat until after my morning workout, but as I started to do more vigorous workouts & longer runs, I found it started to hurt my performance. I can't get myself out of bed early enough to eat and digest a full breakfast pre-workout, so I usually just grab a little snack (ex: banana, a protein shake, handful…

I've always wanted to try SUP, but I'm so clumsy that I'm nervous to try. Is it as hard to balance as it looks?
-
I haven't tried BodyRock yet, but I've come across it and heard great things about it. I noticed most of the workouts use a sandbag –– did you buy one from their website or is there another place you recommend getting one? Or can you make one yourself?

Hey y'all, feel free to add me! I am always looking for more friends and extra support... if you have similar goals to mine or have achieved the goal I'm aiming for that's extra awesome! I'm 5'6" and currently 144lbs. My goal weight is 135lb (I think! ha), but I'm kind of more focused on dropping my body fat % more than…

Definitely! I've never tried it, but the oatmeal absorbs any flavor or liquid you put in it. I eat overnight oats almost every morning for breakfast, and I love making different combos... pumpkin is just my favorite :) I've done it w/ greek yogurt & blueberries, peanut butter & yogurt, coconut milk instead of almond milk,…

That sounds amazing! I am a big fan of chocolate & Greek yogurt.

exactly what you may think they are...from the infamous chia pet. very nutritious. Not sure about delicious though as I have never tried [/quote] No joke, I started singing that as soon as I read Chia seeds. I Googled and found this on them.... http://www.nutsonline.com/cookingbaking/chia-seeds/premium.html (Who…
