  • I walk when I play golf. Sometimes I carry; sometimes I pull. Some websites claim that close to 1000 cals are burned by walking 18 (5 or 6 miles depending on how wayward your shots were, distance green to tee between holes, etc). I find it hard to believe.
  • Hi dv7834! Welcome to the group!.... chopped liver.
  • 58 yr old male in BC, married. I've always eaten healthy food, but I eat too much of it. Went from 214 lbs to 185 lbs 3 yrs ago, but ballooned back to 209. I could give excuses (lost a house), but in the end it's on me. Started at it again, and I have lost several lbs.
  • I was always in shape until the last 15 yrs. But then I started packing on the pounds, bit by bit. Soon I was about 45 lbs over my ideal weight. My moment of clarity happened about 3 yrs ago during golf (I always walk, even before my 'enlightenment'). Anyway, a friend and I went out to play 18 and he asked if I wanted to…
  • More or less what POHarry says. Three yrs ago I took on a personal trainer to help me lose weight. She had me doing cardio 3 x week and weights on alternate days (i.e. one rest day per week). The weight programs were constant motion, no rests, very intense. Here's one of the progs for example: 10 minute warmup on a rower…
  • Get a personal trainer. . I'm 54, similar situation to yours, and really didn't know my way around a gym any more. The PT helped immensely. Pricey? Yes, but worth every penny now that i'm getting results.
  • I have a game on my elliptical (similar to tetris). The control buttons are on the end of the handles. Also, the faster you go, the slower the blocks move. I find it really makes the time go by fast.
  • My trainer tried to kill me today. "Leg presses-good, now some lunges-now squats-quick, lats-ok, stairs...: and on and on it went. I thought i was going to puke at the end of it. But I survived and live to fight another day.

  • You girls are dynamite! I'm forwarding this thread to my wife... would LOVE to see her wearing heels around the house (strictly for the sake of weight loss, of course...)
  • http://www.nutristrategy.com/activitylist.htm You'll find it in the list.
  • This reminds me of a joke: Why do married women tend to weigh more than single women? Single women come home, look in the fridge, then go to bed. Married women come home, look in the bed, and decide to go to the fridge.
