I work in whatever I want to eat. Say if I want pizza that day (no small task not being able to have gluten or dairy!) then I make sure I order my other meals accordingly or go on my bigger walk or whatever. Deprivation equals fail. This isn't a temporary or quick fix. The reason why people gain back the weight they lose…

Just starting on my bachelors this fall, I'm going into social work to get my counselor certifications. I eventually want to become a nutritionist with physical therapy mixed in so I can someday become a life coach.

I definitely agree with the suggest to pick a non-scale goal. Something to work toward that's more than just a number and will stick with you long after the weight is gone.

That's great to hear. I'm glad you're in it together. It'll help you both stick to it and weather the rough times together as well as give you something to mutually celebrate. Hang in there. :)

I'm almost always over on protein and fiber. I don't sweat going over on anything except calories, carbs, and salt.

There's lots of reasons for weight gain. Too much salt = water retention. You're working on new routines and lifting, that adds muscle which adds weight, ect. Chances are though you aren't gaining FAT unless you're way overeating. It takes time and patience. It took you years to gain it, is it so terrible that it'll take a…

Probiotics are bacteria. They are the good guys though. They build up your gut flora to help you fight off illness, keep your bad bacteria in check and under control, as well as many other things. They are commonly found in yogurt but if you don't eat yogurt the supplements are good in their place. Whenever you have to go…

Go much higher with your calories. You have so little to lose, you should only have a deficit that will put you at like 1/2 a lb a week. The reason being is you are so close your body is hanging on to that last bit of reserves. Add in strength training as well and work on building good lean muscles to help you consume that…

Chances are your mom won't ever be happy with anything. She'll always find something to pick at. Do this for you, stay away from your mom. She sounds absolutely toxic. Starving yourself won't fix anything either. It'll damage your self and your mental well being. Set your goals here, follow them, you'll get there the…

I count my herbal teas as water. I don't add sugar and it has great nutrients with nothing that would cause it to slow hydration, so I figure why not.

You need new goals and new challenges to keep your momentum moving forward.
-
Crazy enough but the closer you get to your end goal weight the more you need to eat. Along with strength training and cardio of course.

I didn't start recieving compliments from random people until I'd lost almost 30 lbs. I'm at the 40 mark now and I get compliments all the time. i think part of it has to do with frame though. I have a medium build with wide hips and the fat distributes fairly evenly on me. I won't have before and after pictures for 10…

If you can afford it, go and get your base metabolism tested. They have instruments such as the "Bodygem" that can actually test your metabolism. It sounds like your body is in a crisis though from not getting enough calories. The only way I know to pull out of those stavation crisis is to feed the body for a while. Let it…

Yes, food matters. I get so sick of hearing a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. No it's not! You're not going to get the same fuel out of 500 calories of ice cream as you are out of well balanced healthy meal, and your body doesn't process it the same either.

Break it down, log it, then click "remember this meal" so that every time you have that salad, you just pop it in.

I despise it when people walk their dogs, let them take a dump on our front lawn, and walk off. GRR I want to pick it up and throw it at them. I do not have a dog, I should not deal with someone elses dog crap. It is rude and disgusting and I don't like digging it off mine or my kid's shoes. Yuck! If the dog happens to do…

Great link. Explains the sugar problem rather well.

Instead of pushing off your cravings and pushing them off until you can't stand them anymore, have your craving item during the day right after a meal in a controlled portion. Then for supper have a high fiber high protein meal. And then stay out of the kitchen except to get more water and such. It goes a long way to…

Start small. It's not just food I'm talking about. It's how you feel about yourself. You need to love and accept yourself first, then improve. Self loathing will get you nowhere and even if you reach a certain number, chances are that self loathing will still be there. You need to nurture yourself body, mind, and soul.…

I worry about the fact that it's so hard for you. Are you depriving yourself of things you love? Or are you dealing with a crazy sugar addiction? <-- That one is the hardest to conquer.

If you need help with budget eating, I feel like I'm a pro in that area. Only get about 300 a month to feed 5 people. On top of that we're all celiacs so it can get spendy real quick.

It's a common question. The sugar count on here is the USDA's recommended allowance. It's hard to calculate a daily limit for sugar because sugar is not a necessary nutrient. Our bodies don't NEED any sugar. So they keep the number extremely low. One ripe mango can almost equal the daily number. I don't keep it on my…

Green teas you can count toward your water, they are very low in caffeine. The black tea is about equal to coffee when it comes to cafeine content. When I have trouble drinking enough water, I cold steep my herbal or green tea overnight in 4 cups of water, add a single packet of stevia, then dilute it with another 4 cups…

I was really stubborn. I went anyway. But I did make concessions. I made sure I didn't go when it was dark. I told her the time I would be home and where I would be and I went. If you can, find a running buddy. Good luck with the battle.

If it's a rare thing, I don't stress it. Like one of the days I was really sick and only ended up eating like 600 calories that day. If it's a common thing, I'd suggest looking for some higher calorie low volume snacks such as nuts to help fill in the gap. They have excellent natural oils that are so important for your…

Freeze them, make them into a spreading sauce, can them, turn them into fruit leather, bake with them, the possibilities are endless.

If you're not eating any added sugar, I'd suggest taking the sugar off your tracker bar. A single mango can put you at or above the allotment. What it comes down to is sugar is not an essential nutrient so the guidelines for it are near zero because we don't actually need any sugar. That being said if you enjoy fruit and…
