  • They are the silliest books I've ever read and the movies are fun but brainless. If you want good erotica movie watch the 80's movie, 9 1/2 Weeks, when Mickey Rourke looked great before all his plastic surgeries. (By no means am I promoting physical or mental abuse. This was one of those movies I happened to watch back…
  • -retire comfortably with hubby -get some muscles -ride a bike cross county in Italy or France or the US -be an expat somewhere -pay off my mortgage - perfect the lindy hop
  • My hip still twinges a bit especially when doing deadlifts or straight legged lifts but fine when doing squats so I'm not sure what I really pulled down there. On occasion it hurts when I sit on my right side to much. Anyway, it's back to StrongLifts today: Squats: 5x6 @ 70 lbs. I'm doing fine with this weight. OHP: 5x5 @…
  • This is such a positive place to be because who doesn't want any more positive motivation. Weekend was not good but not bad in terms of tracking my food. I treated myself to 2 hot dogs at the MLS soccer game and had a salad to go with it, then went downhill with a huge oatmeal cookies. Anyway, I ended up being semi-good…

  • Dark Matter by Blake Crouch - a man is knocked out only to wake up in an alternate world. Great and fast read. I wouldn't be surprised if they made this into a movie.

  • I never thought of 30s as middle age, but now that I'm in my 40s, I definitely need support and motivation in my weight loss journey. Yes, it's that much harder to lose weight now.
  • Thanks ladies. Last year around this time, I was very consistent with SL and managed to lifts heavy weights but I always felt like I was "bulking" up (as in I managed to gain muscle AND keep the fat too). There's gotta be a happy medium and I have yet to find it. Meanwhile, I'll keep watching what I eat.
  • I just finished reading Salt and the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. Winter, 1945. Four teenagers. Four secrets. Each one born of a different homeland; each one hunted, and haunted, by tragedy, lies…and war. As thousands of desperate refugees flock to the coast in the midst of a Soviet advance, four paths converge, vying for passage…
  • If you are doing SL and have managing to keep good form doing all your reps, you should move up 2.5 lbs. each workout.
  • Sing Street. One of my favorite indie movies of last year. Rogue 1 was good, but I LOVED Dr. Strange.
  • I'm on a winter schedule right now meaning I haven't done any outdoor activities in a few months. This is my exercise routine each week: Monday: Weight training with 30 minute run Tuesday: Run 45 minutes Wednesday: Weight Training Thursday: Run 45 minutes Friday: Weight Training and Abs Saturday: Rest Sunday: 2 hour swing…

  • Hello ladies. It's good to be back to the weight training scene. My weights are a bit on the lower end since I've upped my reps. I recently found out that I need to increase reps to build muscle (not necessarily strength). Today's workout: deadlifts: 3x8 @ 55lbs. pullups: 3x10 @ 16 (assisted) overhead shoulder press: 3x10…
  • I'm back after a long hiatus due to my shoulder. I'm ready to start up StrongLifts but my version of it (more reps than strength). • You can friend me if you like. You should be very proud of your loss because a loss is a loss is a loss so congrats to you. That's more than I can say for myself since i'm a big foodie and wine lover, but everything in moderation. One word of advice on exercise: you don't need fancy machines and gyms to exercise. All is…
  • Hi all. I'm 46 and live in the heart of Washington, D.C. with my dear hubby of 13 years.
  • Hi there. I'm 46 and looking to control my eating habits once the cooler weather hits. Anyone can add me if they like. I'm usually on MFP every day tracking food and activity and occasionally checking out these groups.
  • Hi there. I think I'm going through the same thing right now and it's really hard to get beyond the body I have. While I know there are definite changes to my body as I age, I didn't realize how much my body has changed. I have to deal with looser skin that won't tighten up. It's harder for me to lose weight as compared to…
  • I run alone but then I live in the city so there's always people around in the early mornings. I feel safe enough.
  • Washington, DC here!
  • Hi all. I'm a happily married 46 year old runner with no kids living in the heart of Washington, DC (which is noted as one of the most fittest in the USA). I've been an avid runner for the past 20 years and prefer to run 10 milers and half marathons at least twice a year. The newest race is the Philly Half that's coming up…
  • It takes time to lose weight and even if you lost 2 lbs. in a week, it could be water weight. Patience is key and to see any good results should take about a month or more. That's my opinion and you can take it for what its worth. Good luck in your weight loss journey.
  • It depends for me. Sometimes I'll eat a little something before a run, some I don't. It also depends on the distance too. If I'm scheduled for a longer run of 7 miles or more, I'll eat something during the run.
  • Keep up the great work. 10 lbs is a lot and it shows.
