That's great! You can do this. Surround yourself with people who care about you for you and don't be afraid to lean on them - they may need to lean on you some day too! Lots of water will help too. But, as the weather starts to improve, those walks will be nicer and nicer and you'll begin to feel the difference in your…

^^^^This. I started just walking back before my 50th birthday and gradually over the years decided walking wasn't enough. Now I "run/walk" - run 3 minutes, walk a minute. I'm in training for my 2nd half marathon which is in 5 weeks. I've participated in several different running groups - need the accountability since I'm…

My friend who doesn't use her treadmill, which is right in front of her big screen tv, because it's "boring" but who can sit on the couch and watch said big screen tv for hours. How is the treadmill more boring that just sitting on the couch? And the other excuse that really bothers me is "I just don't like water so I…

This^ . Like fingernails on a chalk board to me.
-
Yes, same feelings. But, you have to learn to forgive yourself - we're all human, we do the best we can with what we have and most of us don't do things with evil intentions - sometimes lack of concern for the future or for other people but not consciously evil. So, write yourself a letter forgiving yourself for the past,…

You could invite us all over to help you celebrate your new wine cellar and we would be happy to remove some of that awful temptation for you!! LOL. What a wonderful gift. Enjoy it slowly for a long time!

^This!

^This. Exactly. Takes me back to my HS days!
-
Thanks for the reminder - I just went back to my friends list and posted some "Happy Mondays" and "You can do its" on their walls. We're all in this together!
-
That's a great NSV! It's the little things that help us get through those tough times! Great job!

^This. Four years will pass regardless of what you do with them. You'll be close to 30 then anyway. Do you want to look back from the same position you're in now and wish you'd done something with them? I applaud you for making tough choices now and hope you enjoy the ride!

I have found it to work for me - very small portions ever 2 -3 hours so I'm never hungry, never feel deprived. I do eat a pretty big breakfast first thing in the morning with lots of chopped onions, green pepers, mushrooms, spinach, 1/2 cup of egg beaters and sometimes a small potato chopped up in it too, other times a…

Good luck and I hope you're hooked on it! I started walking 5ks about 4 years ago - took almost an hour to do my first. Eventually got to running/walking them in ~35 minutes. Now I'm hooked and have done 10k, 15k and 1/2 marathons - love it! Just go slow and steady and keep striving for a little more each time.

I keep Hershey's dark chocolate kisses in the cabinet - try to stick to no more than 5 per day, sometimes easier said than done though.

I think you're not eating enough to support your exercise habits. I think you should increase your calories with a little more protein and see if that helps.
-
Yep, more protein throughout the day seems to help me. And lots and lots of water. Maybe some green tea or herbal tea to mix it up a bit. And do make sure you're eating enough.
-
I'm around your height and started around 190 pounds. I was sticking to around 1,200 - 1,500 calories per day and walking at least 2 miles every day, dropped ~30 pounds in about 4 months. I felt very healthy doing that. I substantially increased my vegie intake and upped my protein. Although I didn't swear off breads and…

I love my elliptical - I can use it when it's too cold to go outside and then run outside when it's not. That way I'm always changing things up a little bit.

Been there, done that!

ROFL!!! Seriously, my kids always loved it when we cranked the stero up and danced around the living room - just move the breakables out of the way 'cuz it can get crazy!! Good for you, good for them - fun all around. And you can use your 4 year old as weights too!
-
Way to go! Awsome time! Give yourself a pat on the back for me and keep on running! :drinker:
-
I used to take them for lunch just about every day and managed to lose about 30 pounds in about 4 months that way (and have kept it off for almost 4 years now). The sodium may be a little high but if you balance it out with more water and more vegies for dinner, it all works out in the end - you have to do what works for…

I know your frustration. My motivation has always come in waves and then disappeared. I wish I knew exactly what it was - one time I felt great motivation before a planned vacation to Hawaii - lost ~20 pounds, had unbelievable will power, just thought of palm trees and a swim suit every time I thought about eating…

I walked my first few 5ks a few years ago and then gradually began running a little, walking a lot. Ran with a training group for a 10k last year and then a half marathon this past spring - the bug'll bite you! Go for it! You'll see all ages and abilities out there -do it for fun, for your health and to help a charity.…

I just ate a King Size Pay Day bar. No dinner for me tonight.

Thank you!

Won´t you please, please tell me what we´ve learned? I know it sounds absurd, but please tell me who I am.

AMEN! You're awesome and so right - you're giving them so much more than you can know; happy memories, a love for an active lifestyle, a great example to follow! Inspirational!
