  • Man o man have I been there. We all have. A few strategies... I made myself a quote book with lots of great quotes to keep me going. One that relates to what you are going through, and that keeps me from throwing in the towel... "The longer you wait to decide what you want to do, the more time you are wasting." The longer…
  • I eat them as a side with my chicken. I add a slice of 2% Kraft American Cheese & 4 tablespoons of Arriba salsa to the top of a grilled boneless, skinless chicken breast. It is YUM! Had it for dinner last night. Black beans make a great side. Also, try them in a burrito. They are good!
  • i started with my current weight. I weigh in on Wednesdays of each week. Then I went on the calendar and marked what my weight would be if I lost 1.5 lbs a week, and then 2. Then i made a list of where I would be (range) if I were to lose 1.5 lbs and 2 lbs per week at the end of each month. I am ahead of my goal because…
  • I agree. Very Vanilla tastes like vanilla frosting to me. Add in some peaches (I don't even really like peaches) and it's so yum!
  • Zumba. Wii fit gets pretty boring and there is a lot of down time between games. Doesn't feel like a great workout when you are standing there trying to pick a game!
  • Times makes a great one. Check out a recent forum topic. It's the timex T5 something.. couldn't tell you the name, but it sells for just under $60 on Amazon, but is $97 in stores. I really like it. Think it was more accurate than my old one. Comes with the chest strap as well. Got great reviews and I like it so far. Good…
  • I'm close... I live in Dallas... Canton is about 45-60 min from you!
  • Dont look at it as a setback. 393 calories doesn't even come close to making you gain a pound! Sometimes it's good to go over you calories, to keep your body guessing. I have been stuck on my plateau for almost 2 weeks, and I went over my calories for 2 days last weekend and today the scale went down for the first time in…
  • I got a new Timex and i really like it. It was $97 in the store, but Amazon.com was selling it for just under $60. It includes the watch and the chest strap. This is the one I purchased: Timex T5H881 Zone Trainer Digital Heart Rate Monitor It got excellent reviews and I have enjoyed it so far. I like the fact that the face…
  • Anyone tried the cupcakes from the Cook Yourself Thin book? I have the book, but haven't had a sweet tooth since giving up dessert, so I haven't tried them. I figure if I am not craving it, then I am not going to try and make a substitute yet! Just wondering if anyone was familiar with that recipe.
  • Amen. You should read the letter I wrote to my on my page. It was NOT nice! I like weighing in everyday. It's not an addiction to me. It helps me to see a pattern and determine if I need to change things up to keep this going. It has been creeping up on me the past few days though, .2lbs at a time, and I am not happy about…
  • Yes. There are so many inexpensive DVD's out there that don't require much to do. Jillian is a big fav on here, as well as other Wii games, etc. Good luck! PS( I got Zumba last night and my husband had to turn the wii off to get me to go to bed!) Love that and Just Dance. He wouldn't let me video him trying Zumba, but I…

  • I have a sodium problem. Helps me to see what others are eating to stay under, AND to know I am not the only one! No judgement here!
  • I was an Diet Dr. Pepper addict until I started drinking more water. Quit cold turkey. I don't even know myself anymore with all the changes I have surprised myself with. I still have a "diet soda" every now and then, but I can't even finish a 12oz can. My hubs ordered me one with my salad last night out of habit, but I…
  • I have a hard time with this one, so I turned to my hubby (graduates from med school soon, so I though tI would use it to my advantage for a change). The average Amercan eats about 5 grams of sodium per day! (5,000 mg, which is twice the daily allotment on MFP.) Yes, high blood pressure is a risk associated, among others.…

  • My cocker spaniel is my child, as you can see by my profile. I understand your feeling and am sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is just like losing a family member. They can never be replaced. Although you say it seems like a small victory, it is a very big one. You have just started your lifestyle change, not your weight…
  • Sometimes when running on a treadmill, our gait changes. Make sure you are aware of where yo uare standing on the treadmill. I was guilty of this when I would run on the treadmill... If you are up close to the front of the machine, you are too close. They are supposed to be designed so that you run in the middle of the…
  • "Forget mistakes. Forget failure. Forget everything except what you're going to do now, and do it!" i made myself a little flip book of motivational quotes to keep me on track. I like this one because I know there will be days when I don't get a workout in, or when I have my one "high calorie" day per week and I feel…
  • I agree. My rewards are a new book that I have been wanting for my little library of my favorites, or a new wii fitness game, or something to help me keep up with my new lfestyle. I like the smoking analogy. Kind of puts it in perspective for me!
  • I have high calorie days. I still log everything, and don't go over by much. But it's part of the plan to help me keep from hitting a plateau. I have always heard that rewarding ourselves with food is dangerous, and I would say that's probably true with me. If Ihave a day where I don't log my food, I am more likely to go…
  • "If you want it, you will find a way. If you don't, you will find an excuse." "If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten." "It's not what you do when you are motivated that counts, it's what you do when you are not." "If you focus on results, you will never change. If you…
  • Skinny Cow Ice Cream sandwiches or other novelty ice creams. So good and they are low calorie. An Ice Cream sandwich has 150 kcal. Yum!
  • Wii games are currently buy 2 get one free at best buy. I think I am going to take advantage of this and get the Zumba as well and the Just Dance and Just Dance 2. Heard great things about them all!
  • Welcome from Dallas too! We have about the same goals. Good luck! Add me as a friend if you need some motivation!!!
  • It's good to have 1 high calorie day a week. It helps keep your body from getting used to eating the same things everyday. Yesterday was my high calorie day and today I broke my plateau and was down 1 lb. Just make sure you drink a lot of water today! Good luck! You can do it!
  • Up your calories by 150-200 for a day, then drop back down to keep your body guessing. Also, make sure you drink about 8 cups of water. I was in a short plateau for several days and yesterday I ate a caesar salad and went over by 170kcal. I made sure I got enough water and today I was 1 lb lighter. Good luck and don't give…
  • Up your calories to 1500. Once you adjust, if you want to go down you can. It's a big adjustment from eating the number you were at to cut it down to 1200. Your body may need to gradually decrease to avoid feeling hungry and adjust. Also, I agree with the posts about making good choices for your foods. Plus, don't forget…
  • I am doing both the Couch to 5K program and the 30 day shred. I like to do the C25K as a warm up. It really prepares your body for the shred. I dislike the 2 min warmup that Jillian does. I would much rather work out for 3 more min and have a proper warm up, but that's just me! You can google Couch to 5K and find the…

  • I never get those. Mine are Baylor (the hospital I work for) ads, weight loss surger (i assume from the hospital) and mostly jillian michaels ads. But I hear people say that all the time! Go figure.
  • You can still eat foods that you love. If you need money saving tips for grocery shopping check out fitness magaznie.com. They have some great strategies that really do work. Plus, there are lots of good foods out there you can buy in the lower fat versions or healthier versions that are the same price. For example, the…
