  • To be honest, eating things out of jars with a spoon is not really a very good start. Try spreading it on a piece of toast next time, it will actually curb some of your hunger and it's far better behaviour from a psychological viewpoint than just digging in with a spoon.
  • Weight loss is not linear. I think the worst thing about diet programs is that people expect to lose a certain amount each week and if they don't sustain that loss week after week they feel like they've failed.... but that simply isn't true. It comes off in bits and bobs, sometimes you stay the same for days then lose a…
  • No. If you're dieting it means you should just stop eating sweets and having treats and just eat healthy low cal food. After you have finished dieting, you should carry on with that diet and just eat more of the healthy stuff. Because seriously, let's all just stop stuffing our faces with chocolate and donuts shall we?
  • I've been losing plenty of weight having most of my calories in the evening, so I don't think it really makes any difference. I think you should probably eat more in the morning if you do a physically demanding job so you don't get starved and then overeat at night.
  • Weight doesn't care what day it is.
  • Yeah - that happens. It happened when I moved in with my girlfriend and over a couple of years we piled on 2 stone each - we've both done really well in dropping. Basically, weight-loss kind of means you have to break the eating together habit a little bit. So next times he wants to go get a burger you say 'OK. I'm staying…
  • No. Even when I'm eating with my family or friends I take the healthiest option available and if there isn't one, I just take half a portion. Most of the calorie jumps in my diary are alcohol related or induced - as in, 'I got drunk yesterday and today I am eating like a horse because I'm hanging'. I try to avoid social…
  • It usually happens when you buy new clothes.
  • I've lost stacks of weight by dieting and walking. People turn their noses up at it, but it is a really great exercise as long as you get your pace up to around 3-4mph.
  • I cut out all junk food 6 months ago and I no longer really want to eat chocolate, sweets or crisps. I don't intend to eat such food again, the only sweet stuff I'll be having will be deserts when I've gone out for a meal (which is pretty rare for me) and that won't be until I've hit my goal weight.
  • No. In fact, I have a friend who I work with who is also monitoring his weight and he'll routinely say something like 'Ohhhhhh, I can't bothered. Let's just do massive burgers for lunch.' - to which I reply, 'You can do burgers if you like, but I'm going Boots for low calorie amazingness and then I'll come meet you in BK…
  • Hi - Yep, you can have a look at my diary if you like. Aside from a huge weekend in there I come in under or around 1200 most of the time in my Net calories. I've been eating this way for 6 months before I joined MFP and I think my calorie deficit was probably a little low and subsequently made up for by weekly family…
  • Switch to weighing in grams - you'll have better accuracy, better control, it's a minimal difference and really pays off. I weigh in grams, have a proper measuring spoon set to tablespoon & teaspoon and use a jug with a scale on the side to measure volume of fluids.
  • Hi, This exact same thing happens with me. If I get drunk on a Friday or Saturday then I probably get fried chicken on the way home. the following days I have hangovers and make bad eating choices so I eat away the hangover. This means that all that good work I did during the week was for nothing. I am fully aware this is…
  • Since I've changed my eating habits, I no longer purchase any snack foods other than the ones that go in my stepsons lunch. But before that, if I bought a packet of biscuits, I would eat the whole packet. I don't really know when my standard portion size when from 'handful of snack food' to 'entire packet of snack food'…
  • Yep - I live in Portsmouth.
  • I only joined this site a couple weeks ago, but I actually changed my eating habits nearly 6 months and have lost 2 stone before I started on here. On my last attempt at weight loss, I lost 5 stone by severely reducing the amount of food I ate. Thinking back, It was probably quite a dangerous diet really but it helped me…
  • All my fault. During my 20's I didn't give a damn about how I looked or how heavy I was, I just loved food and I ate lots of it and had a thoroughly good time doing so. Then I decided to change.
  • This is basically how my weight loss goes all the time. Yesterday morning I weighed 11st 7lb and had done for 6 days prior, then this morning, I weighed 11st 5lb. This is quite a short time frame between weight changes for me, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 weeks before the scales shift. Did I lose 2 lb's overnight? No - my…
  • I live next door to an Aldi supermarket so I shop daily. An average shop costs less than a £10 ($17) and I buy mainly veg, fruit, salmon, chicken, soup, household stuff, things for the boy (juice, kellogs winders, fromage frais, macaroni cheese packets, frozen pizza, pickle, cheese, bread), tea, sugar, spread, passatta,…
