The easiest way is a way that fits into your lifestyle--or that's what I've gleaned from reading many, many boards around here, other websites and well, it makes the most logical sense. If you can have a cheat day and not go nuts, that's great! If you have little to no self control and you know you will fall into a deep…

:flowerforyou: Thanks I appreciate that! We're walking along slowly at about 5 miles a day now and I'm quite impressed with that so far!

I saw some recipes for green soup recently and realized in the Caribbean we call that callaloo. I use no specific measurements, just whatever I have. Usually we do spinach, okra, onions, garlic, pepper, salt (optional), other seasonings (whatever you want really, I like parsley, chives etc.), coconut milk (this makes ALL…

I've been trying to cook all my meals instead of eating out/processed food. Sometimes I estimate, sometimes I use those little bakers measuring cups. When in doubt, I underestimate (except for salad stuff, always overestimate that). So far it's been working. I'll eventually get a food scale but either way gotta learn how…

Guess I had a few of these. First it was hard to walk a few blocks AND up stairs to a classroom, then after that it was being unable to walk a block or two with the dog at a normal pace without back and feet pain, and I guess the third thing is that the physical inability combined with the way I fit into my clothes really…

Tried it with guava jelly the other day, it was surprisingly YUM!

Started way over 350, can't say for sure because 1. Didn't own a scale in about 10 years 2. Didn't get one until about 2 years into changing habits (which was last month). Officially I think my goal is 200 but I'd be happy with a little more than that then we'll see how I feel.

I like to make a mash. Steam it. Get a tiny bit of oil or a non stick pan and toss in some chopped garlic, onions, pepper and salt, and use a spoon to smash it around til it gets like mashed potatoes.

I curry it with potatoes or chick peas (or hummus) and eat it with naan or pita bread (my other version involves just cubing it and tossing it into a chicken curry dish and having it with rice). I also wrap the whole thing in foil and let it roast on the stove top then open it up when it gets soft, use a fork to get out…

Similar starting weight, similar job issues, also just got a dog. I cut out soda, I like to replace it with seltzer water. It wasn't easy at first-just a reduction in amount, so those tiny cans, then one every other day, then one every few days, then once a week, then only when I felt like I wanted it which was rarely and…

Although potentially controversial, I count all liquids as water (coffee, tea, crystal light, seltzer etc.)

YouTube vids helped me get started (some of those Zumba ones aren't bad depending on what type of music you like). There's also this series (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YI0j8nLiZmE) but I can never get through it. I tend to just walk and try to make sure my pedometer says I've hit 5 miles for the day (if not for my…

Good to know. Last time I tried the gym thing I was much healthier, weighed about 100 lbs less and someone beside me kept talking to me about how spinning would help me lose weight. I never went back. Fast forward a few years into the future and now I walk at night and only stop by the fitness center between 8-10pm and…

Thanks for posting this. You're an inspiration. I started around 348 a few weeks ago and I'm not down by much and I'm trying to walk like 5 miles a day. Definitely not drinking enough water or getting enough sleep but I've totally cut out soda etc. I'm just not seeing the results and trying to not dwell on it, just focus…

I just started about 2 weeks ago and I don't really don't log the small stuff, esp if it's raw veggies and just a pinch of it. If I feel like it was more than a decorative pinch then I'll just overestimate and call it 1/4 of a cup. I refuse to log seasonings, takes too much time. I also overestimate my water log. For shame.

My go-to lately has been diluting some low cal/low sugar BBQ sauce (or homemade) in lots of various seasonings (garlic/onion powder, cilantro, cayenne, etc. everything except salt but heavy on the cilantro), smearing the sauce lightly on both sides so like half-1 tsp then wrapping it in foil and letting it steam in the…

I second hair screws/spin pins (the ones from Goody work hair miracles, that bun stays up even when I sleep!)

Started barely dragging myself half a mile earlier in the year, now I make between 4-6 miles a day depending on how motivated I feel in the evening. Hoping to bump this up in the coming months.
-
Am I the only one that wraps it in foil and bakes it with the seasonings to keep it from drying out?
-
My pace is pretty slow so I just like to up my mileage. Started around half a mile, now I can easily do 4-6 a day. I consider it a good day if I'm over 3 but I've been pushing to keep it over 4 lately. My goal was 5 by mid-October but I already broke through that so we'll see what happens.

My favorites are roasted chickpeas with cayenne/cilantro, raw almonds/cashews, prunes (like 3 of'em are 50-60 calories), cucumber slices (slightly salted), popcorn (sprinkle different things on it, cinnamon or parmesan depends on the mood). I also like those cheeses like mozzarella sticks or Babybels (unless you watch your…

Same problem. Similar weight range. Went from 348 down to 339 then back up to 343 now back to 340. Been very consistent with exercise but I slack off on sleep, water intake, sodium maintenance so I can see why it's happening.

Thanks guy :) I've been really lucky in that no one uses it at night when I'm feeling the most energetic so I can look like a fool, test everything out, get worn out after 2 minutes, rest and jump back onto something with practically zero shame.

Proud I broke down and went to the fitness center (been deliberating since May and just focusing on walking). Working with the stamina and endurance of a true amateur but glad I finally got there (twice this week).

So far I've stripped them for salads. Used them whole or sliced up for stir frys (use a random assortment of veggies and liquid amino to kick up the flavor and it's been YUM). I've got tons of chicken left from my last bulk meal prep and am thinking of using them for sandwiches (with whole wheat sandwich thins or pita…

Broke through my 2-3 mile barrier and walked 4.8 (1 in a thunderstorm, 2 with dog) Small victories!
