  • Wow...I cannot believe people get up that early every day! I can barely get myself out of bed at 8 to be at the gym by about 8:15/8:30!! Workout for about 45 minutes or so, then back home and shower and leave for work at 10. My hours are 11AM - 8PM, so going to the gym after work is hard. I end up getting home too late and…
  • Kidvicious & Courtneytree - Have you tried using one of the recipe calculator sites? If you tend to make the same meals at home all the time, you can just use the site to figure out the nutritional information and then save it to MFP as a custom food. I make my own vegetarian gravy, so I did that and it is so easy! They do…
  • I have definitely mixed vodka with just crystal light...the lemonade and the orange flavors both tasted good to me. You could also add a splash of diet ginger ale or diet sprite for a little extra fizz in there! Enjoy!
  • I would probably just have a nice big salad and add chick peas (garbanzo) or other beans to get some protein in there too.
  • Did you try the kickboxing with the strap that goes around your thigh? I was checking it out online and wondered how comfortable that was, and if the cords got in the way of what you are doing. But it looks like a cool addition to my Wii games!

  • I found this recipe in the book "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" which had lots of great healthy vegetable-based recipes in it. Sweet Potato Quesadillas Makes 4 servings Each serving = 170 calories, 9 grams of fat, 15 carbs 2 medium sweet potatoes 1/2 onion 1 clove garlic 1 tablespoon oregano 1 tablespoon basil 1 teaspoon…
  • I don't have a HRM, but I do have the same issue with the machines at the gym. My HR on the elliptical is always so much higher than it is supposed to be on the little chart! And I can never use those "fat burning" modes because I cannot keep my HR at the rate they want it to be at. Is there some magical way that people…
  • Goal weight loss in lbs - 25 lbs? It varies! How long have you been a vegetarian or vegan? - Vegetarian for around 15 years+ Age - 40 I honestly cannot remember exactly when I stopped eating meat anymore! It just is. I was probably eating about 99% chicken when I stopped - I was never able to eat things like lamb, veal,…
  • Every finale show seems like their first show ever! Did anyone see last year when all the female contestants were falling on the stage? I guess nobody tested that out.... And poor Allison is out there trying to manage a live show, which she is not used to. I definitely would have preferred Tara or Mike to win, they all…
  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montenegrin_cuisine You can find information about the foods of Montenegro there! It says the most common non-alchoholic drink is pomegranate syrup! That is an easy juice to use to make cocktails. I have made this before, and it is really good: Oprah's Favorite Pomegranate Martini recipe 1 oz…
  • I am excited for the finale - I love to see how all the "at home" contestants did with their weight loss! Some of them do really well, and that is nice to see. Either Tara or Mike would be a good win. I think they both worked really hard at it and both deserve it. Mike was lucky to have his dad there to support him. It…
  • You should defnitely check in with your doctor to make sure there is not an underlying reason for your problems. Not every weight loss tool works for everyone! Maybe the exercises you are doing are not enough to keep your heart rate up and burn the calories? Can you increase to 45 minutes of cardio at least once a day? I…
  • I try and eat about 300 for lunch. It really depends on how your day is structured and if you feel like one of your meals need to be bigger to get through the day. For example - if you have to have an early lunch because of your work schedule, you might want to have something that is higher to last you until dinner. If I…
  • Like anything else (gym membership, workout DVD's, exercise equipment...) it will work if you use it regularly! The key is to use your Wii Fit enough in the beginning (which will seem easy) so that you can unlock the more difficult advanced levels of the program. I did not find the beginner step that difficult, but the…
  • That is awesome! Thanks for sharing!

  • Well, try and avoid the "paneer" (panir) dishes as those have lots of cheese in them. Try a dish that is mostly lentils or chickpeas - like Chana Masala - which is chick peas in a tomato-based sauce. Or you can ask how their Aloo Gobi (potato & cauliflower dish) is made. Not sure if that will have cream in the sauce...…
  • I add Trader Joes dried cranberries to mine - they are way better than the raisins my mom used to add!! (This week I got the orange flavored ones and they are so delicious!) There are only 96 calories in a 1/4 cup...and you maybe need half of that in a regular bowl of oatmeal.
  • Grandpa's Orignal Muffins! http://199.236.86.79/pages/muffins.html (They are based in NYC, not sure how far they get distributed...) If anyone wants the calorie content, I would be happy to share it. They sent me an excel spreadsheet with all of the muffins in it.
  • Quesadilla for breakfast! I love it! Actually, you could still have a modified quesidilla for breakfast - get a whole wheat wrap and put some scrambled egg whites in there with some low fat cheese! You could add some vegetables or turkey in there too if you like. I'm a big fan of oatmeal for breakfast. When I want to add…

  • In the deli that is in my office building they had these super delicious muffins. And I pretty much had myself convinced that because it was a "yogurt muffin" it had to be good for me, right? So I ate one every day for three weeks and then started MFP and decided to write to the company for the nutritional information.…
  • So glad to hear a positive review of a good Wii workout - I am definitely putting that on my list! For Christmas I got the Jillian Michael's workout, but I didn't enjoy it so I didn't use it that much. Wish I would have rented it to see how it was before I bought it.
  • I like seitan, but don't cook it myself all that often - Vegetarian Times has good recipes that might help you: http://www.vegetariantimes.com/recipes/search_recipes/?keywords=seitan&members_rating= Also, the Moosewood cookbooks give some free recipes here: http://www.moosewoodrestaurant.com/recipes_archive.html
  • I used to eat the whole box by myself for dinner! I would start out with a "normal" serving and then either have another huge serving or walk by the pot on the stove 15 times until I had finished it! (And I could do the same thing with Rice a Roni...) Now I just don't buy it so I can avoid it without any problems. For me,…
  • Here is an interesting article from the New York Times about artificial sweetners.... I always think it is interesting to find out how we are being marketed to: "Although finding a no-calorie sweetener that tastes exactly like sugar remains the holy grail, the street fight is getting people loyal to the distinct flavors of…
  • Here is a good list from the USDA on iron in foods: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/Data/SR17/wtrank/sr17a303.pdf Unfortunately, you cannot sort it by content, but you can easily scan through the list for items that are higher in iron. Of course, some of those items are "fast food burgers" so you want to avoid that!…
  • I love jicama! The best thing about it is that it is essentially a vehicle - it takes on the taste of whatever you add to it or cook it in. So a great way to get fiber without a bad taste. The only downside is that it is a bit of work to peel and cut. But well worth it in the end.
  • I had the same problem - it was alleviated for me by getting shoes that fit properly! My old sneakers (Nike) were too narrow. When I went to the Super Runners Shop, they found a pair that were better for my wide feet and I haven't had the numbness problem since. It also helps to move your feet with the eliptical - it is…
  • I would definitely choose Survivor - I have watched every season since it started, so hopefully I have figured out a winning strategy by now!
  • Thanks Sonjavon - I will try that! Another way I try and get more water in is to drink a full glass when I brush my teeth! Every little bit counts...:drinker:
  • I really have to force myself to get in the 8 servings. When I am working out I can drink plenty, but when I am just sitting at my desk, it is really hard to keep drinking. There are these odd situations where I can drink a lot of water, but they are few an far between! Has anyone tried Sassy Water? I'm not on the Flat…
