Ditto. Everyone I know is always going on about how nice it is but I just don't get it...

About 20 - that is I've lost about 60 and gone down 3 sizes so far.

Oh yeah I had a proper winter coat, hat, scarf, gloves and winter boots on but by the end my fingers and toes especially were feeling pretty darn cold! I'm not worried about eating extra to make up for it though - I'm sure the additional calories I burnt weren't that significant - but I was just curious if this could've…

I don't have a car and I had to wait for the locksmith - the first 30 mins were trying to find a locksmith, then 45 mins for him to arrive and another 15 for him to get the door open. Everyone else did go to someone's house who lives nearby but as it's part of my job to deal with these sorts of things I really had to stay.…

Milk, bananas and tomatoes. Hate them! (Although I can eat tomato-based sauces and ketchup etc. But an actual tomato? NO WAY!) I have borderline phobia of milk... But no problem with yogurt or sour cream (but ONLY sour cream - I hate all other creams.) Don't like peanut butter either - unless it's encased in/mixed…

Hi! I'm not a gamer but I am into several things one might consider 'nerdy', including (but not limited to) Doctor Who, Sherlock, LotR, GoT, Harry Potter and MCU. :)

Thanks for the advice! Yes my focus at the moment is fat loss but I also don't want to lose what muscle mass I have hence why I'm thinking about starting strength/resistance training. I'm not really looking to GAIN muscle per say. I mean, some would obviously be good but I don't want to replace all the fat weight with…
-
Thank you!! I have a long way to go until I get to where you're at - you look amazing, congrats!! But I will get there! Guess I need to start strength training! :)
-
Thanks for the reply! So does that mean I could do a progressive lifting program whilst still eating at a deficit and continue to lose weight (mostly fat hopefully) without replacing that "fat weight" with "muscle weight"?
-
Thanks, that really helped me understand it all. Good to know I don't need to worry about eating below my estimated BMR. Think I will just change my goal to 1.5 lbs per week and go with what MFP tells me to eat for now. Depending on results I may up/lower my cals again in a few weeks.
-
Thanks, that make sense. The walking is in addition to my daily activity so I will take this into account when working out my calories burnt.
-
Thanks, I did not know this! I will take that into consideration from now on.
-
Ok that makes sense, thanks! So if I know the exact distance I'm walking and the speed MFP's estimate will be based on my weight and will be pretty accurate? Does that mean I SHOULD be eating back all calories from walking, rather than the 50-75% I've seen recommended on here?
-
All the online calculators I've used have asked my weight, walking speed and time taken but not my gender. Would there be a big difference in calories burned by a man who weighs the same as me?
-
Nope. They missed the point. I never once said I COULDN'T eat 1200 cals. I said I had been struggling to do so on some days and I was looking for advice on this (as I personally don't want to just eat some more junk food just to make up the calories). Many people gave some helpful advice about adding things like nuts which…

Absolutely I agree it is about balance and I know that is something I need to get better at. However, many of the people mentioning how overweight I am and questioning how I managed to get here have just been downright rude about it and there's no need for that imo.
-
Again, thank you to everyone who has actually given some helpful advice and been nice about it. To everyone making rude comments and going on about "how did you get overweight in the first place then!?!?", I just want to let you know that coming from the point of view of someone who is new to MFP and these forums (this was…

I don't know if you're getting confused with someone else but I never mentioned anything about eating over 4000 calories of junk?? Also, the point is I don't want to "eat some junk" just to make up the calories. I'd prefer healthier/nutritious options with the occasional bit of junk, thanks. Sorry, but IMO this comment is…

Thanks to everyone who has given some great advice/tips. I will definitely try adding nuts to my diet (love them!) and increasing my protein intake. I will also stop using low fat dairy products. I think maybe I've been overly cautious and have been making sure to stick to mostly low fat versions of things and lean cuts of…

I have started minimal exercise (just walking for 30 mins or so) but I will definitely start taking that into consideration when choosing things to eat. I don't want to start eating more of the "bad" stuff to just make up the calories so having healthier, calorie-dense options like nuts is probably the way to go I think.
-
Yes I weigh and measure out everything. I had 140 grams (not sure what that is in cups) of hazelnut gelato which was 308 cals. I guess I could've eaten more but I didn't feel the desire/hunger to.
-
Exactly! Thank you! It's easy to say "oh how did you even become overweight if you can't even eat 1200 calories". The answer is because I wasn't paying ANY attention to what I was eating. Like you say, it's easy to eat THOUSANDS of calories when you're just eating whatever and not worrying about how many calories things…

I don't like peanut butter but I do love almonds so I will try this. Thank you!

No I gained the extra weight by just eating all the wrong things all the time but not because I was necessarily hungry for them. Since deciding to do something about it though I've found that I am actually satisfied with normal portions of healthy foods - meat/chicken + plenty of veg but they don't add up to many calories.…
