  • I do think societies views are changing, at least here in the south. At my daughter's high school, she is considered abnormal because she is slim and muscular. Kids who would never think of making fun of overweight kids will make comments to her about being anorexic, etc. She competes in judo and jiu jitsu and eats a LOT.…
  • One other note: I looked at your diary and you seem to be weighing a lot of things which is great, but I noticed you had a couple entries for peanut butter and jelly that were measured in tsps/ tblspns. These should be weighed on a scale as well, if you aren't. You might be eating more calories than you realize if you…
  • I second this.
  • If you open your diary (go to settings then diary settings and make public) people will be better able to help you. In general 1200 calories a day is quite low unless you are very petite. I am not a nutritionist, so take my suggestions as such. Read the sticky posts at the top of this forum. Good luck! Eta: the post in the…
  • 1. If you're seeing physical results that's great! Start measuring yourself weekly and taking pictures. The scale can be unreliable for many reasons: water retention from sodium or in muscles, time of the month, etc. Track your calories, weighing solids, measuring liquids, picking the correct entries in the database, eat…
  • F/45/5'8 [222lbs>197lbs = 25lbs] (3 months) Cool beans!
  • Fake it till you make it. In other words, you need to work on gaining confidence, but part of that will come from just taking that first step. If you don't fall flat on your face....success! That breeds More confidence. If you do fall, at least you had the guts to try, so try again. Keep it up!
  • As a few others have said, I had a warped sense of how heavy I was as a teenager. I was tall early and never really skinny. But, at 5'7" and 130 lbs, I was definitely not overweight. Ironically, I jumped up to 155 lbs in the military. Still not technically fat but I sure thought I was. Being stationed in Germany with great…
  • 1) age: 45 2) approximate weight: 200 3) physical location: TN 4) activity level. What I consider moderate 5) How often do you exercise? 4x a week: badminton twice (5 hours total) weight training twice. 6) Do you eat breakfast? Yes 6) what is your largest meal of the day? Probably dinner 7) how many times a day do you eat?…
  • Sodium intake might be the culprit. I looked at friday and saturday of your diary: saturday you had bleu cheese for lunch but the boars head data you chose says 0 sodium. Not possible. Friday you had an egg and cheese roll, also with no sodium.... No. Friday was high in sodium before the egg and cheese so pretty sure that…
  • You can do the math but there is no perfect way to get body fat percentage. Go with the scale for now.
  • [/quote] First, that's a huge protein intake. People with a lot of weight to lose should be calculating their intake using lean body mass, not total weight. Second, it doesn't matter if you're measuring in ounces or grams, so long as the conversion is right (28 grams -> 1 ounce, google will do it for you). Keep in mind…

  • Hi! I would suggest reading and rereading the stickies (posts with pins) at the beginning of this getting started forum. That helped me a lot. If you are going to count calories ( you would be surprised the number of people here that don't) you need to get a food scale. Another suggestion is to not label any food or group…

  • I never knew you could do that with the popcorn! I don't want to buy an air poppper as I have enough kitchen gadgets, but the brown bag thing sounds great. Thanks:drinker:
  • Exactly, more water weight lost at the beginning.
  • Agree that this is just an average, and will fluctuate but it does give you another piece of information. Throwing out first two weeks is a good idea.
  • Take each weekly average x 7 (days) x 7( number of weeks). Add them all, add that to the total calories of weight lost. Divide that by 49( total number of days) and you get your daily tdee.
  • Please read the posts by vismal about how he lost weight. Also the threadsvat the beginning of this weight loss help section. I understand you want to keep doing what is working and maybe if you ask others more expert than I they will say you are fine. I don't really believe that, especially as you get closer to your goal…
  • Sorry, scared myself. Just figured out you knew that with your 3100 estimate. You are eating less than half your tdee which seems a recipe for disaster in the long run to me. You are obviously losing a lot of weight in a short period but that seems really scary. I would suggest that you should up your calories for your…
  • Your tdee would be your intake calories PLUS the calories burned to lose 46.5 lbs! So really 279750 (162750+117000). Divided by the number of days. OMG!
  • I am assuming 162750 burn is your calories in and any weight you lost multiplied by 3500, added together. If so then yes your daily deficit is around 1800. (Assuming all measuring is accurate) that seems like a huge deficit but I'm no expert.
  • I'm off until tomorrow so I'll just say this. As far as I can see you have three options: 1. Don't eat breakfast, eat lunch, then use any calories left for the evening. 2. Don't eat breakfast, eat lunch, exercise as much as possible, and eat those calories back. 3. Do a little kid trick and excuse yourself to the bathroom…
  • Three questions: What is your calorie goal what if any exercise do you do If you do, do you eat your exercise calories back?
  • Same, but have to be ready for the ups and downs. Interesting to see how sodium effects weight. :-)
  • I keep a look out for your posts; always great.
  • I agree with above. After plateauing for several months, 1 month change is worth a try.
  • Bumpity for me and Congratulations for you!
