18 months... I started couch to 5k in April 2007 and ran the half marathon the first time in November 2008. That is just me though. Running is so mental for me. Once I stuck with it and built up my confidence, I surprised myself over time. Hang in there.

Welcome "real" runner:flowerforyou: Fyi, I did couch to 5k a couple of years ago. It took me 4 months to finish the 2 month program. I am currently training for my second half marathon. If I can do it, you can do it!

Hi Julie - I took a look at my training log from last year. I trained using a 16 week program. Keep in mind, my goal was just to finish... I ran 8 miles for my last long run the week before the race. However, 3 weeks before the race I ran the course, 13.1 miles. I highly recommend running or driving the course before the…

Good morning:flowerforyou: Brisk walking for me today. Enjoy the day -Kechie.

Thank you:flowerforyou: It is terrible. I have been suffering through the day unable to take a nap. Fortunately my daughter goes to bed early. Tonight I won't be far behind her.:drinker:

Good morning:flowerforyou: 7.72 miles for me this morning.:drinker: I was scheduled for 8 miles but I was whipped by 92% humidity. I could not have run that last quarter mile if my life depended on it. Enjoy the day -Kechie.

Tempo runs and speedwork will help you run faster overall. Since they are so hard on my body, I only do them once a week. Since you are up to running 3 miles 3x a week and it's been a few months now, I think you're ready. You can either add another day or substitute one of your current days to do a speed or tempo workout.…

That sounds like a lot of running young lady. I say rest the next 36 hours and be honest with yourself about how you feel. If you feel up to it, no yawning. Go for it.  -Kechie.

Happy Friday Runners:flowerforyou: 6 miles at an easy pace for me this morning. I was almost sidelined with tummy troubles. Took an Altoid and headed out the door anyway. Yes those curiously strong mints cure tummy troubles. Enjoy the day -Kechie. Oh by the way 99% humidity again this morning.:frown:

Way to go Shuntae! I am so proud of you for A getting out there and B not quitting. When I read your post, I giggled because after 2 solid years of running I still go out too fast. It doesn't matter what kind of run I'm doing. I struggle to hold myself back. I am just so excited to be running. As you get stronger, you…

Congratulations, you are over halfway to your summer goal:drinker: The C25k is a great program. There are so many factors that affect my running pace that I try to focus on my effort during each run. It is so good for your body to train at all different paces. Here is a sample week for me: I run a long slow distance once a…

Good morning:flowerforyou: Another rest day for me. Last night, I enjoyed a great tasting healthy recipe - Ginger Chicken with Broccoli from Runner's World. Don't be initimidated by the length of the recipe. It is worth it! Go to runnersworld.com for that and other healthy delicious recipes.:drinker: Wishing everyone…

I went racing to Target to buy it when I heard it was available. I stood in the store and looked the book over cover to cover and decided not to buy it b/c of all the packaged and processed foods in the recipes. If you try to eat mostly whole foods, I would not recommend this book.

Thanks! This helps us out a lot. I'll reply last next time and add part 2. Awesome! Thanks again:flowerforyou:

It is a 2 month program that'll have you go from sitting on the couch to running 3 miles in 2 months or 4 months if you're me. If you Google it, you can see the details of the program.

Take care Sherry:flowerforyou:

Welcome to the Runner's Club! You are so smart for setting a goal to lose the baby weight.:flowerforyou: I think running is a great way to help you. I've been running for a couple of years now and even when I don't weigh what I want to my body looks so much better from running. In running, it is important to avoid getting…

I don't think so. I think the new thread is displayed as soon as I post it. At least, I could see them both in recent posts - fitness and exercise after I posted this morning. I have noticed that it seems a little tricky to catch our board under recent posts since we stopped starting a new thread each day.? So, I just…

I have seen this too! I think the poster manually puts the links to previous chapters into the new post.? Can't hear what you find out!

I've had Luna bars at running races. The caramel nut brownie one is my favorite. These are great after very hard workouts. I would not recommend eating them daily.

Good morning:flowerforyou: I'm resting today with a Leslie Sansome video and Pilates. The thread will lock soon. So join me on the new thread when you can. chat soon -Kechie.

I air dry. However, I have had my shoes get so wet that after a day of air drying I had to break out the blow dryer to help them out.
