  • Holy. ETA, that was to Melissay's post.
  • Quite. If men can't control themselves around women because of what the women are wearing the solution would appear to be some kind of burqa. These would slow the men down as they tend to be pretty heavy garments, keep their hands under control and prevent them seeing the women so clearly as vision is pretty limited…
  • Don't the boys have a problem with "knowing modesty"? What does that mean, anyway? Do the boys hold such low value of women that it is effected by their clothing that day? Are women who dress modestly more deserving of respect than those who don't? You police the girls your sons ^talk^ to? Are they allowed to thank a…
  • It's a good set up at the gym in that there's always one or two PTs on pay to be "present" as opposed to being busy with their with clients. I was able to explain the difference between a military press and OHP to the PT, but only because I just happened to have re-watched Mehdi's video on it last night
  • Congratulations to Katro and SkepticalOwl, it's really inspiring to read about your successes
  • I find calorie-counting far more flexible than Weight Watchers. Plus, it's free. I've lost three dress sizes in 6 months by stringently watching my calories
  • Congratulations, this is an amazing achievement. You should share it in the "Success Stories" forum.
  • I spent quite a bit of time last night re-reading the Stronglifts site and noticing things I'd been getting wrong. Tried to right them today: Day 12 Squat 90lb 5x5 OHP 46lb 5, 4, 3, 4, 3 DLR 145lb x3 I went a little bit later than usual today and found people a bit more chatty. I normally keep myself to myself. In…
  • I love doing yoga and don't worry about doing a BodyBalance session on a rest day.
  • I prefer this calculator, http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ and just transfer these figures to MFP.
  • This. I would calculate your calorie goal for a 1lb a week loss. That's it. I wouldn't follow that diet you described earlier.
  • Huh? He's her partner, not her child.
  • Just ask him. Ask, "what do you think we should do if one of us has a different goal?". Me and my partner eat separately apart from the evening meal (tea). Sometimes we plan to go over our calories on tea, but only do so if the other wants to too.
  • I love yoga, it challenges my body in a way neither cardio nor strength training do. It takes a lot of concentration and I love seeing the improvements in my moves in only a few weeks. Focus on yourself, don't worry about what others are doing. Remember to breathe. I have never been aware of anyone breaking wind in yoga.
  • This is called a "red flag".
  • Day 11. Squat 5x5 at 84.5lb Bench press nearly 3x5 at 50.5lb (failed on the fifth, spotter said it caught on the rack) and 2x5 at 40.5lb Barbell rows 5 at 68lb
  • It's not reduced, but I think that Asda's greek-style yogurt is a high-protein, low calorie bargain at £1 for a big tub. Only, they were out of them this week so I ended up buying the 8 tubs they had left of the 50p size.
  • Hi, it would be helpful if you could say what your goal is. Is it: - lose 15lb or - build muscle or - do Insanity or - get your abs back or - eat more fruit
  • I am in agreement that the anti-women comments often come from female posters, and some of the most feminist comments come from men. Why wouldn't they? I'm sorry if I gave the impression I thought any different.
  • Regarding the points made about menstruation, I agree that there is often a rather surprising level of ignorance from posters of either sex. However, it is male posters I have seen making comments such as, "Don't lift weights during your period - your body is bleeding and needs to heal itself". We also get comments from…
  • "and then there's the statement about weight lifting being for men..." This is not what I said. My point was that stereotypically male activities are celebrated whilst stereotypically female activities are disparaged, e.g. "cardio bunnies", "Barbie dumbells" etc. I have not made anti-men comments.
  • It's very clean and tidy, the changing room is well-appointed. The equipment is new and kept in mint condition, there's a great range of all sorts of equipment and machines. There's a huge range of people using the gym at all times - ages, sex, body size, health goals etc. Everyone's very friendly, especially the PTs, they…
  • It sounds to me as though you've made clearing your debt your absolute priority. If you want to be debt-free in a relatively short amount of time, then there will be sacrifices. An alternative would be having a five- or ten-year plan instead of a two-year plan. This would bring some balance to finance, health,…
  • I think you've kind of missed my point. By a country mile.
  • I think lifting heavy weights is addictive! I have tried a couple of ways of supplementing the protein in my diet. I tried protein bars, and hated every brand I tried. I've had more success with adding a scoop of whey powder to my breakfast milkshake. And in general, my diet has a lot more protein in it nowadays.
  • I promise you that was auto-correct!
  • What do I recommend in terms of a cut? Somewhere between 1300 and 2000  If you've just cut recently, and are fed up with living on a deficit, then go for a bulk - focus on the weight-lifting. Twice a week is fine, although I secretly think you'll give it a couple of weeks and find a third visit a week! We're in a…
  • How about putting a typical day's food in to your diary, see where it gets you in terms of calories and then adjust until you're below 1500?
  • Just eat what you like but keep it to 1500 calories or fewer. You don't need to eat certain foods.
  • esbal, I was wondering, given your height etc whether a cut would help your lower half slim out. I agree with others that (like me) your upper half will always be more slender than your bottom) but I have found my recent cut has made me less "out of proportion". (I find your husband's sense of entitlement to pass judgement…
