  • All foods can by eaten while losing weight as long as you are in a calorie deficit. You have made at least two post about different kinds of foods that lead me to think you have a less than positive relationship with food. Foods are not good or bad, they're just food. No food can make you gain or lose weight. Some foods…

  • You didn't say anything about nutrition, you specified weight loss. Weight loss is all about calories. But even if we're talking nutrition, there's nothing wrong with eating Oreos if they fit your goals. And yes, I eat potatoes often. I also eat Oreos.
  • There is no food that is good or bad for weight loss. Eat what you like within your calorie limit. I love potatoes and eat them regularly. My favorite way to eat them is baked and topped with shredded beef, cheese, and broccoli. Edited to add: Some foods are more satiating than others. When losing, I tended to focus on the…
  • Three pound weights aren't going to do much. I lost as much weight as needed and do compound lifts with heavy weights. But your arms look pretty slim to me.
  • I only supplement nutrients that blood tests show I'm deficient in. So, for me, that's B12, D3, and I throw an fish oil capsule in there because the doctor told me to. I don't take protein supplements because I have no trouble getting enough protein from my regular diet.
  • Lol, my mailbox is 1 1/2 miles from my front door, and down a steep hill. I only check it once a week. I still manage to get an average of 10,000 steps per day. But that's an average, I don't get that many every day.
  • The only thing that would change is the percent of RDA a particular micro is. All hard numbers would remain the same.
  • I don't move inside due to rain as running in the rain is my favorite thing. I do avoid running outside during electrical storms, but that's the only thing that stops me. And in that case I may try the treadmill or I may just skip running that day all together.
  • I use TDEE which uses exercise to calculate the calorie number to be eaten. I can't imagine doing any real volume of running without properly fueling my runs. More directly to your question, before a long run I calculate how many calories over my usual TDEE I'm going to expend on my run and I make sure to eat up to that…
  • I can't trust my instincts because I take a medication that affects my appetite. Left to my own devices I'll either over-eat, or under eat because I'm afraid of over-eating.
  • It's purely subjective and only you can decide what is right for you. The healthy range for my height is 110 lbs to 145. That's a huge range! I know that 110 would require too much effort to maintain, but anything over 130 makes me look chunky, so I settled on a range between 118 and 123. I look good at this weight and…
  • Progress is good and if you're losing in a sustainable way that makes you happy, then that's the best kind of progress. Good for you.
  • This is an excellent thread: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1161603/so-you-want-a-nice-stomach#latest
  • Because weight loss isn't about "eating healthy", it's about eating fewer calories than you use. Are you weighing your food? All of it? How many calories are you eating? How tall are you? How much do you weigh and what is your goal weight? How old are you?
  • I watched the kids with my husband worked out and watched them while I worked out. It was really that simple. Not always easy, but simple. Things got a little complicated of my husband was out of town, but even then I would exercise in a way the kids could join me.
  • This thread is six years old, I doubt the original poster is still around to answer your question.
  • I think you should use an established program so you're not spinning your wheels. Try one of these, https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10332083/which-lifting-program-is-the-best-for-you
  • I had nachos for dinner last night, why are they off the table? Cheese and chips are delicious. If you don't eat out often, I would eat whatever sounds tasty and I wouldn't worry about it. If you can't do that, chicken fajitas are the lowest calorie Mexican meal I can think of.
  • There are many very effective forms of exercise that don't involve running. Why not try something you'll enjoy instead of torturing yourself with a form of exercise you don't like?
  • This. It looks like you're not eating enough. Try eating at least your allotted calories, plus your exercise calories. Also, what are your stats and how much weight are you trying to lose?
  • I used Hal Higdon's Intermediate plan for the one marathon I've run. Next time (if there is a next time. I didn't really love my experience), I'll pick a different plan. I don't think Hal Higdon's plans give enough volume. My longest mid-week run was 8 miles and I just thing that's enough, at least for me. As to how to…
  • My family, especially the women, tend to live a very long time. It's nothing for my family members to live to 100. If I'm going to live that long I want to remain independent and strong, not tied to a wheelchair and a oxygen tank.
  • Exercise has always helped with the cramps. It's tough to get started, but once I do I feel better and continue to feel better for the rest of the day.
  • I don't monitor carbs, fiber, or sugar at all as none of them matter to my goals and I have no health issues that require it. I monitor protein and calories only.
  • Because appetite and satiation are both very individual and not everyone is like you. I do tend to eat lowish carbs, but not everyday, because I love things like pizza, rice, and potatoes and I would not feel my best with a good balance of all macros.
  • I eat a lot of leftovers, but, honestly, I think it's more wasteful to eat more than your body needs than it is to throw food away. It's actively harming your body if you eat more food than you need to avoid throwing food away. I feel like I'm not articulating my thoughts very well, but, to me, my health is more important…
  • Why do something you hate? I would prefer to find an activity that I like and enjoy, that way I know I'll stick with it. There are many, many great forms of exercise that aren't running.
  • Most people are taught that it's rude to comment on other peoples bodies. I wouldn't say anything to anyone who wasn't a very close friend.
  • I've decided to settle for a little bit more padding rather than try to lose the last 10 pounds. I'm 53, 5'4", 120lbs and this is a comfortable spot. I could lose another 10lbs; it would probably help my running times, but I think maintaining that lower weight might be too much effort for me. I'm comfortable here, I don't…
