  • How are the new shoes treating you? I'm a flat-footed, overpronator runner. My last couple pairs of shoes have been New Balance and they've been great for my feet.

  • I've downloaded the app but haven't used it yet. Where do you put your phone to follow the workout? Do you set it on a table nearby?

  • I am just about 2 yrs post-partem w my twins, I carried them to 40 weeks and they were each over 6 lbs, so I was ginormous...48" around. I found a physical therapist who has been helping me repair my diastasis (abdominal seperation). If you have severe seperation, then some of ab exercises, like crunches, can actually make…

  • Have you thought about wearing a heart rate monitor? I run with my twins in a jogger and I know I'm blasting way more calories than MFP says I am running at my pace. I wear my HRM when I run with my kids and walking with them and then just enter the calories burned per my HRM.
  • 68 = running 66 = running and weights 45 = walking 179/1000
  • A long time ago, a friend told me that he weighed in before and after to see how much water he needed to drink to replenish. So if you were 1.6 down, he'd say you should drink an extra 20ish ounces of water. I don't know that I totally buy it but that's what I was told.

  • I haven't done her workout but I can't imagine a 700 calorie diet is a good thing. Is that her recommendation for a short time, detox, period and then up the calories to something realistic going forward or is it 700 calories indefinitely?
  • I think you've got some great suggestions here. A protein shake could also help you get to your calorie goal if you find yourself down at the end of the day.

  • I overpronate and I have flat feet, I never thought about trying to correct. I just figured that's how they made me, buy good running shoes and move on. Curios if you get any responses from peeps who have corrected theirs.
  • I nursed my twins until they were 12 months, they're almost 2 now, and just took a prenatal. I didn't really start working out hard until I weaned them bc I was worried about my supply. Props to you for BF and exercising, you must be starving all the time. I do miss being able to eat like a teenage boy. lol Like a lot of…

  • I have the same HRM, I've had it for year's but I just found it and dusted it off after seeing all the HRM chatter around here. I ran 6 miles w it yesterday. Mfp said cals burned were 631 HRM said 611, so pretty close I think.
  • Excellent advice. If your spouse is supportive then it's nobody else's business what you're spending on a healthier more fit lifestyle and at 48 it's certainly non of your parents business what you spend your money on. Keep up the good work and listen to the supportive peeps in your life!
  • My twins are just shy of 24 mos so they still nap. I'm assuming your 3-year old isn't napping anymore and that's why you can't work out while the child is sleeping. My niece at 4ish still does quiet time in her room for about an hour and that's when my sister is able to do a fitness DVD. Also, if that's not going to work,…
  • Exactly this. When we get chipotle I order the burrito bowl and only eat half. It's very filling and I have the rest for lunch the next day.
  • I rollerbladed to and from work one car-less summer in college. Bye bye freshman 15, I don't remember starting ending weight but I do remember my ex working overtime to try and win me back. Too bad too sad for him.
  • I run 3 - 4 times a week and only do 1 long run 8ish miles. The other days are easy 4ish mile runs and when I know I'm not running a longer distance I'm able to play around w intervals either on the treadmill or out in the world. Did I read your op correctly, you're only running 1 day a week and it's an 8 miler? Maybe…
  • Ditto. It's only been two days though so we'll see where I am in another month or so. (fingers crossed)
  • You should probably be running in running shoes as opposed to cross trainers, I don't think the toning shoes are good for running at all but that's just MO. A good pair of running shoes should only set you back $100 or less (Asics is a good inexpensive brand) and if you purchase them at a running store they can help you…

  • I work out on an empty stomach and then get something after. I can't run hard when I have anything in my stomach.
