Your BMR (Basic Metabolic Rate) is how many calories you need just to keep your body functioning. Your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is your BMR, adjusted by a certain amount to include your activity level. Basically, it's how many calories you need each day to maintain your current weight and activity level.
-
Thanks for your feedback! Your TDEE is your Total Daily Energy Expenditure - basically it's your BMR, adjusted to take into account your activity level to give you a rough guide to how many calories you need each day. (I'll add a note to the info page on the site explaining this, I'd forgotten.) A couple of things could…

Hmm, that shouldn't happen, sorry! What device are you using? Was it the metric or imperial version? If you try again and the same thing happens, could you take a screenshot to help me fix it?

I understand where you're coming from, but I think that's a bit harsh. My hope is to make a helpful tool for people that are trying to lose weight. I’m not trying to use anyone. When I was losing weight I found figuring out this stuff really motivating, and I thought other people might find it useful too. Honestly, it…

@leanjogreen18 @msalicia116 If you put in your intended calorie intake per day, you should get the zigzag - let me know if it works!
-
That's a really interesting idea! I'll have a look at adding it to the calculator. Thanks for your help :)

Hello again! I've been working hard on the calculator today and I *think* that everything should be working fine now! :# I have fixed the NaN issue, changed the optional fields so that you still get some results even if you don't fill them all in, adjusted the layout a bit so it should work better on mobile, added some…

Did you adjust the frame size option? If so, (I'm guessing you put 'small' frame) the BMI results are adjusted by 10%. I've explained the feature in detail here: http://www.weightloss-calculator.net/important-info/ If you didn't adjust the frame size option, something went wrong! Could you take a screenshot for me so I can…
-
Fixed now, sorry about that! Thanks for the feedback :)
-
I'll put it on my to do list :)
-
Fixed both things - it should now round the numbers, and won't display the optional results unless the fields are filled :)
-
Fixed! You can now just put in a goal weight and finish date, and it should work fine.
-
Hey everyone! Thank you SO MUCH for your feedback - I was hoping to fix some of the issues today but I'm on a deadline with work so didn't get round to it, but I'm going to implement the improvements you've recommended as soon as I get a chance and will update here :) Thanks again! In the meantime if anyone has any other…

Hmm ok, there are some adsense ads on there but you shouldn't be seeing only them - what device are you on? I'm trying very hard to make sure that it works for everyone but I'm pretty new at designing for mobile. (Programming isn't my day job, just a hobby.) If you can add a screenshot I will do my best to figure out the…

Thanks!! Glad it's working ok on iphone :) The ideal weight range really is just based on the upper and lower limits for a BMI in the healthy range, but of course BMI isn't always the best measure, I've written a note to that effect on the important info page. Thanks so much for your feedback!
-
@jamieparadis20 Fixed :)
-
Thank you so much!
-
@jamieparadis20 It's because your finish date is in the past. But obviously I need to fix it so that you can't have a goal date in the past! You're a star, thanks so much for taking the time to send that.

I've had a look but haven't been able to recreate the problem, although I did tweak some of the layout which may help - if you have a moment, could you try again? If you still have the same problem I'd be really grateful for a screenshot to help me figure out what's happening! Unfortunately I have to have the ads on there…
-
Haha, yeah I would take that with a pinch of salt. Could you possibly have entered something incorrectly? It's a dumb calculator so if you accidentally put that you're 100 feet tall or something, you can get odd results like that. If you're certain you didn't, I will be eternally grateful if you can send me a screenshot so…
-
Thanks, I will check it out now. Sorry about that!
-
Hmm ok, that's odd. Are you filling in all of the optional fields or just some of them? Some of the calculations require more than one optional field in order to work, so if you're only filling in one or two of the optional fields, there may not be enough data to run the additional calculations.
-
Uh oh, that shouldn't happen. What device are you using?
-
Thank you so much everyone for your feedback! I hope to have time to do some more work on this in the next few days. My to-do list is now: Metric version! 5:2 Diet calculator (i.e. with 5 high cal and 2 low cal days, for a specified average calorie intake) A function that will enable you to put in a goal weight (or your…

To calculate the zig zag, make sure you have entered your Intended Calorie Intake Per Day in the Weight Loss Goals section at the top. Or it could be that I have just been making a couple of changes under the hood, so just try again :)

Thanks so much everyone! I'm really glad you're finding it useful. I'll be working on the metric conversion soon as I can, please let me know if there are other features you'd like to see.
-
Awesome, thanks for checking it out! I am still trying to figure out the best way to give a metric conversion option, but it is on my to-do list. Are there any other features/calculations that you'd find useful?
