5'9 - and yes - it is a fast walk - I have had a knee replacement, so I am not "allowed" to run..... I can walk up to about 4.8mph before I feel I need to start jogging to keep up.... A "normal" walk for me is 3.5 to 4.0 mph.....

Yep - eating more than you are burning will cause an increase in weight......most prob a combination of water and eating too much...

Yep - decent running shoes - for my walking shoes I got some decent insoles with a high arch support - 100% fixed the problem.... Here is another thread from earlier this week (yes - these things are asked and answered by others ;-) ) with some great suggestions…

When I up my protein my need for "empty" carbs normally drops quite significantly, so I find that I dont really have to worry about the increased protein calories, as I am eating less calorie expensive carbs....
