I’ve been away from the 50+ thread for a few months. There are so many new faces! Hello to the (few) familiar ones and the (many) new ones. I will do my best to catch up with December but will probably be in and out. It’s a lovely thread but so big! Mia, lovely picture of you and the colored glass. Rori, you (and your…

Just read your "I'm hungry" dialogue. Another approach (to taking a break) is to increase both exercise and low-calorie foods. I'm talking a lot when it comes to low-calorie foods. My heart kind of sank when I read your dialogue because I've been there so many times and those danged breaks can turn into a lot of pounds.…

What great comments. A lot of people said pretty much what I thought - which is to increase the "good" food and reduce the "not so good" food. Veggies are particularly good because you get a lot of volume for the calories. One thing I didn't see that might help is to up your exercise. That came home to me big time when I…

Heather, your DGD is adorable. Being a grandmother is the best! Penny, I'll be thinking about you and your mom. You both have wonderful attitudes. Becca, you're doing what you need to do. Sounds right to me! Kim, welcome back. I was gone longer but how nice that we both got back at the same time. I enjoy having another…

Oh. I forgot to say. The kitties are so cute. I'm more of a dog person than a cat person but those kitties were adorable.

Thank you for the advice about how to bookmark this thread. I was clicking on the wrong star. Now I've got it! Miakoda, the change is amazing. So many things in your life must be different, including how people act toward you. I've lost a similar amount of weight but over a much longer period of time so I know what some of…

Hello to all. I just skimmed through the posts. Heather, I'm glad the glass missed you. I once had a glass I was holding shatter into a million tiny pieces. I feel your pain cleaning up! :/ How can I get back to this thread without having to wend my way through 20 or more 50+ threads? I clicked the star hoping that would…

I'm back in the fold. About time too. I didn't know how much I missed MFP and all the support, until I got back in. MFP is by far the best place for me - for losing weight, keeping it off, and (especially) feeling good while I'm doing it. It lifts my spirits just to know I'm doing something good for myself. BTW, for those…

After too much time away, I'm back, browsing through the posts and thinking about what a nice group you all are. Viv, I was so sorry to see that your DH passed away. My heart goes out to you. Happy Thanksgiving (belatedly) to everyone in the US - and I'm happy to give thanks for a wonderful, long Thanksgiving weekend with…

Sheesh. I am chatty today. I wanted to add that anyone who needs to stay away from NSAIDs (eg if you take Coumadin), should be careful with Curcumin. It does the same thing to your blood as the NSAIDs like aspirin or ibuprofen.

Hah. I see that not doing BBCode correctly was on me, not Wiki or MFP. I was reading the HTML part and not the BBCode part. Shows what happens when we're in a hurry, lol. Terri and anyone else who was interested, you should be able to find Curcumin with Peperine (extract from black pepper that makes the Curcumin work…

clearly, the example of BBCode on MFP's Wiki link doesn't work. I'm using their bolding now, with square bracket. That works. I'm not changing the post though because I like the saying so much. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. <3

I’ve been off on a trip down too-much-food-and-second-serving lane for the last couple of weeks. I brought the scale out this morning and weighed my food. A start! (I refuse to weigh myself just yet, however.) How do you all feel about the changes to MFP? I still find them off-putting. I miss the tickers. Seeing mine was…

Popping in to say hello. I'm still here - have just been visiting family. I'm heading home for 3 days with a friend who wants to see Apple Hill then will be back here in the bay area for a doctor's appointment. After that, back home again for a couple of weeks. That will be pure luxury. I've been way off the healthy-eating…

I tried dragging and dropping the pics into the reply. No problem with that. Okay. I've stretched my brain enough for the evening. Time to close up shop. G'night all. Sleep tight. And, as my mom used to say when we were kids, "Don't let the KaBugsKa Bite." (That's in German, in case you didn't know.

nope. no can do on the other pics. they're about 400 kb. Hmmm.

Can you say, "Sucks." Shouldn't the bugs be worked out BEFORE the change not AFTER? The text came up teeny tiny. I had to zoom in a couple of times before I could read it. I need a magnifying glass to see each poster's pic, and I miss the tickers. There, now I can go on. (But I hope MFP gets it act together sooner rather…

I got back yesterday from my long weekend in Tahoe. Will catch up (or just jump in) as I can. I did just read the last day's posts. Michele, I can pick up almost all the news in yours! Jane, my prayers for your friend. :brokenheart: Beth, prayers for your sons too. Thank you to everyone who shared their…

Katia, I'm glad DH came through the surgery well and hope he's ready to come home tomorrow. What a relief - particularly about his back already feeling better. That's pretty amazing. My nephew in Reno is finally feeling a little better. He's been in the hospital with pneumonia and complications for 2 weeks now and has lost…

Brenda, my heart goes out to you and your daughter. :brokenheart:  She has a wonderful mom, to love her so much. I’m sure you will do the right thing for her. I’m guessing though that she doesn’t even know what that is. Just being there will mean a lot. Sending hugs. Barbie, please let Jake know he has my…

Thank you, Katia and Cynthia, for your encouragement. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has been there and done that. Actually, I know that we, pretty much all, have been there (and done that). Katia, your DH is in my prayers. I pray the doctors will work with skill and the results will be all that he hopes for.…

Grrr. Not on track today. I will not let the perfect be the enemy of the good. :noway: Right now, that seems like the silliest thing I could say, as nothing about my day approached perfect. :grumble: But, I am dragging myself, resisting all the way, to the awareness that I have been on a good track, I do feel happy…

I'm heading home this morning. As I wrote on my home page... JB, I know what you mean, "still having quite a time getting my eating under control. Old habits die hard!" Ditto and ditto. I've gotten sloppier over the last few days, not measuring, taking "just one bite" and then two bites. Sugar has crept back in. Without a…

So many of you with big challenges - my heart, good thoughts and prayers go out to (and for) you.   I'm finally getting ready to leave the bay area (east of San Francisco) to home in the Sierra Foothills. I planned to go yesterday but got tripped up by a few things. My nephew continues to get better.…

Heather, yogurt and stewed fresh fruit sounds yummy!

Just poppin' in for a quick hello before heading off to bed. Did anyone watch The Voice? I like the new judges a lot. They gave me a good laugh or two. (There's something for everyone I guess. ) Meg, my nephew is in the hospital with pneumonia caused by smoke inhalation. After 3 days in ICU, they moved him to a…

BTW, I should mention that those glasses have only one lens in them now. I love the results of cataract surgery. The best thing is how bright everything looks. I'm looking forward to the next one in mid-October.  Mimi

Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts for my nephew. He's feeling bummed about possibly not being able to return to firefighting. He's got good family support though and I'm hoping he'll feel better soon so he can pursue something else. I'm heading out early this morning, so this is just a quick visit! But I did…

Stopping in for a quick hello. My nephew (in-law) is still in the hospital and sounds awful. They're trying to cut back on the oxygen but he's continuing to throw up. (He's lost 20 pounds in the last couple of weeks.) He's feeling pretty low as the docs told him he probably won't be able to go back to firefighting for a…

Barbie, I know what you mean about spending computer time on activity instead. (I can’t say “weight lifting” cuz I’m not there yet. ) I do find I’m more active when I spend less time on the computer. Another thing I do less of - and find that it helps with eating and with mood - is reading. I used to read all day.…
