I was diagnosed with Hashi's at age 11, so like another previous poster, I'm not really sure what "normal" feels like. I force myself to be active because it does help. I find that the biggest challenge is getting motivated to put the sports bra on. After that it's easier. Exercising really helps my mind. It's great for…

Yep! I'm 38 pounds down and now it is hard to sleep on my side because my knee bones are against each other with less fat between them and it is not comfortable. Also, and this is strange, cheek bones. Oh my! There they are!!! Oh, and it is less comfortable to lie on my side with a bra on. Less fat around the rib cage…

Wow!!!! Congrats!

I rarely drink diet sodas. It has nothing to do with diet soda being bad/good and everything to do with me being cheap and drinking water. :p

I buy 2% and unsweetened vanilla almond milk. The 2% is used for the kids and my husband and I use it when cooking. The almond milk is for my coffee, cereal, and smoothies. Around here, almond milk and 2% are pretty equivalent in price right now. One bonus of almond milk is that it lasts longer--which is great because I'm…

I am going to try and remember to update this once I get my next A1C to show you the progress I've made. I'm pretty sure mine will be much lower and I can go very soon to get my next work up.

You could crockpot meat and then it will shred itself, no real cutting required, and it could be put into portions for him and then he just has to microwave and eat. Try hard boiled eggs that you peel in advance for him. You can get cheese that is already pre-cut and in smaller portions. Also, what about beans with rice?…

No classes.

Be careful about adding olive oil to things. I personally am not a fan of olive oil and buy the light tasting version because I like it SO MUCH better. I would definitely notice because I hate olives and I would be able to taste it, especially a few "glugs". Does he eat meat? Cheese? Nuts? Maybe try a different kind of…

I have an Oster brand blender that I purchased for less than $30. It does an excellent job making smoothies. I also have a food processor because I made my own baby food. I use that for soups that get blended, like butternut squash bisque. I have eyed up the more expensive blenders but really, I don't think I need them for…

Also in PA and yep...it's with the refrigerated stuff and is really cheap per packet. My husband makes his own soft pretzels so we frequently buy the individual packets.

I disagree with a previous poster on here because I do think that at 11% you should be on medication. This can all change in the future. I'm on medication now. I hope to lessen my dose or maybe even get off of medication over the next 12 months as I lose weight. And you can avoid permanent damage. Please don't be…

I happen to work in an inner-city school district. I am assigned to two elementary schools, a middle school, and our alternative education program (which totals 5 additional buildings-including juvenile detention). We have an alarming rate of obesity amongst children in our school. At my middle school, 98% (yep) of the…

Are you going over your calorie goal for the day? Even if all you eat are Snickers bars, you should really still lose weight just from a caloric deficit. If you do want to start cutting out higher carb foods, think about items that you can make simple replacements on. You can have 5 mini Chips Ahoy cookies instead of a…

I'm in on the not understanding how pizza is fattening when eaten as a part of a complete diet. Some people eat a high fat diet to account for other macros they have to keep lower. I'm one of those people. I need my macros to total 100%. I'm diabetic and have problems with my kidneys so the carbs and protein must remain…

I agree. This is the extent of the greeting I get at PF and it's more than enough for me. Say "hi", scan my key tag, then say "bye" when I leave. I'm all set :)

As a true Northerner, I prefer to NOT be engaged in conversation ;)

There are a number of people on these boards who have worked their way off of medication. My endocrinologist told me that for pregnancy you should really have an A1C of 7% or less to minimize complications. I have Type II diabetes. I had two children before being diagnosed and I had Gestational Diabetes through each…

Popcorn from the air popper, cashews (or other nuts), cheese, pretzels, etc. Remember to eat things that you truly love, but just eat less of them. I sometimes eat strange things for snacks, especially on gym nights. Tonight I had some salami and pretzels.

This is my home as well. We all eat the same things, but I eat less of them. I eat what fits into my goals. We make one dinner, I just measure my portion and log my food. When we watch television together we eat different things because we generally enjoy different snacks.

I belong to PF. It suits my needs because I want to do cardio indoors, need a gym that fits my schedule and really, I have a lot of things I'd rather do with the money I'm saving by only paying $10 a month (and it's a mile from my house). As far as the pizza thing, I know that they say they have pizza there but I've never…

This is very do-able. I spend less than $40/person weekly for my family. One of the keys is to not buy tiny portions. Just batch cook and freeze. You will save money this way.

Have you been cleared by your doctor? This usually happens around 6 weeks after birth.

What I do that works almost every time is to put the hot eggs IMMEDIATELY into an ice bath. This creates steam between the egg and the shell and I rarely have a tricky egg anymore. I leave mine in the ice bath until they are cool, then refrigerate.

I admire you morning workout-ers. I just can't. I do mine after my kids go to bed, so I'm usually hitting the gym around 8-8:30 at night (weekends are an exception to this). I just refuse to go to bed any earlier because the few hours I get at night while the kids are in bed are the only hours of quiet I get in a day. I…

Maybe mix it up with cardio? My go-to is the elliptical but for the past week I've been challenging myself to try some different kinds of cardio and I've found that I also really enjoy the stationary bike (except the butt numbness part that sets in around minute 20). Today I did 25 minutes on the bike, 12 minutes on the…

I'm diabetic as well (Type II). There is a wonderful group on here, which BigGuy47 already mentioned. See an endocrinologist, take medications if you need them, and start moving around more (depending on what your numbers are). Start tracking your blood sugar and "eat to your meter".

I actually find this to be super helpful--thanks for sharing! Loose skin is a fear of mine. You look fabulous!

It's hard to pinpoint, it could be a staph infection or yeast, or it could just be from wiping frequently which could irritate sensitive skin even if the towel is soft. A face wash with tea tree oil in it can help. They don't always smell the best, but they work. Another thing that I personally do to combat this is to use…

I like peanut butter but Nutella is where it's at. I lived in Germany until I was 6 and Nutella was something we always had. Moved to the US and we could find it on the military post but not anywhere else. Now it's everywhere. We eat sunbutter and peanut butter in our house. My older son has a severe cross bite that can't…
