Ok, so I'm going to get back on topic! I eat LCHF. I'm Type II diabetic, so this method of eating is key for my health. If I wasn't Type II I probably wouldn't eat this way. It isn't any magical diet and yes, a lot of the weight you will lose at first is water weight. I dropped about 6 lbs my first week. I'm sure at least…

We have similar stats, OP and I'm losing nicely eating between 1500 and 1600 daily. I don't eat back exercise calories to account for any logging errors or tastes of things while I'm cooking.

Nice! By the way, I adore your eye makeup!

One thing I've been really working on is simply loving myself. I read a quote somewhere about talking to yourself like you love yourself and eating like you love yourself. Every day I realize more and more that I AM worth it.

I also used to turn to food for comfort--especially things filled with carbs and cheese. Honestly, the thing that keeps me going now is that I'm seeing progress on the scale and noticing how my clothing fits differently. I'm being more active, which is definitely helping with my general mood as well. Some days are still…

I enjoy them. I'm a busy mom with a husband who works full time and attends graduate school at night and two school-aged children. These are a life-saver. Easy to make, nutritious, and easy clean up as well.

I have to be honest, I would stop going to any doctor or dietitian who recommended that I only net 500 calories a day. That isn't healthy or reasonable, and you certainly aren't going to build muscle on that. What you will do is wear down your body and be at greater risk for injury. People are just trying to help you. The…

Weight loss can be a strange beast. It truly isn't linear. A few weeks ago I was only losing .8 lbs or so a week, and then last week I had a 2 lb loss and this week almost 4 lbs, probably because of fluid retention and other things. Some of my chart has steep drops and other times it looks like I'm barely moving but the…

I'm a simple salad person. Tomatoes, romaine, feta, red wine vinegar, cucumbers, and hard boiled egg is super yum. Sometimes I add grilled chicken.

4 ounces strawberries, 2 ounces blueberries, one scoop vanilla protein powder, 60 g Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup almond milk.

Indulging in a diet A&W root beer. Still alcohol free since the end of June!

I understand about the mental shift! It's hard because you are so used to turning away from certain things, and then you find yourself in a situation where you need them!

My youngest son has a speech delay and fine motor deficits. He just began Kindergarten and is 5. He has oral sensory issues which is challenging for our family. He has trouble with some social cues, especially with regulating the volume of his voice and understanding physical boundaries. When he was born I gained a lot of…

As the results have started becoming more obvious, it hasn't seemed quite so challenging.

I sometimes have this same problem. It is a side-effect of a medication that I take. I'll have days where I can easily consume my recommended calories and have periods of time where eating is a challenge. For the challenge days I've had to learn to eat calorie dense foods that pack a real punch in a tiny package. My go-to…

While jelly beans and glucose gels might not be how you normally eat, it is absolutely CRITICAL that you take something *straight away* when you have low blood sugar to bring your levels back up. It can escalate into a life-threatening situation very quickly, which is something you do not want. There are products you can…

I downloaded the MFP app for Kindle Fire and it stinks! It doesn't really sync with my phone app or the computer at all so I stopped using it.

My concern with soy is its overuse in food products. It is so commonly used as a filler for a variety of reasons. I don't avoid it at all and I have Hashi's as well.

This sounds awful. I eat low carb, high fat, moderate protein. Aside from medical reasons, you don't NEED to eat low carb. I do it because I have diabetes. My liver has been acting up so I'm also abstaining from alcohol per doctor's recommendation. If I didn't have to for my health, I would totally eat more pasta and…

I think that the logical first step, before getting more blood drawn or paying for more doctor's appointments, is to carefully log your food intake using a digital scale for two weeks and seeing if that helps. Without consistently logging with a food scale, you just can't rule out overeating. As a medical researcher,…

Eggs with cheese or Greek yogurt and coffee.

Some of these are great! I usually say that I watch what I eat and am more active. Though I love when people ask how I am losing weight as if I'm doing something magical. I eat at a caloric deficit.

I think an a1c of 6.6 should be taken seriously! That means that his average glucose for the past 2-3 months is over 150. He is at a stage now where life changes and weight loss could drastically lower his a1c and the need for daily medication! I still think you should check into meeting with a real dietitian.

I love your story! Congratulations to you! By the way, I know you said you have loose skin but you look fabulous! Do you find that wearing shapewear helps? If so, care to comment on your favorite brands and products?

Coming in late, but I do the elliptical for 25-30 minutes three times a week and after the elliptical I usually walk for about 10 minutes to cool down (I get ridiculously sweaty and gross and need to cool off before hitting the weight machines). 30 minutes on the elliptical will bring my numbers down to around 80-90. Find…

I have new lab work this week. Mine is covered by insurance.

I think that, like anything, moderation is key. For those who shouldn't really be ingesting much real sugar, artificial sweeteners can be quite helpful. Personally, I try not to rely on them that much. I know that my Greek yogurt is sweetened with them, but the low carb content and protein punch is worth it for me. I…

Interesting! At first I thought you were talking about that filmy feeling you get in your mouth when you eat something with sugar and you aren't used to it anymore.

You don't *have* to exercise to lose weight, but exercising gives you more wiggle room in your calorie count. The caloric deficit is what matters. Exercise is mostly for fitness and to help with medical issues.

I'm so glad you're going to start weighing and logging food accurately! That's the key to weight loss. Like others, I'm concerned about how little your husband is eating. It's not enough for a male. I don't know how much weight you have to lose so our calorie goals are going to be different, but I'm losing consistently on…
