Like others have said--grill up a few chicken breasts or even some skirt steak, pork loin with chipotle marinade and use that instead. Homemade food is always lower in sodium and additives than store bought, pre-packaged and processed foods.

1) 36 years old 2) 5 foot 2 3) 240 4) I exercise 4 days a week--1 or 2 with my trainer, 1 or 2 on my own and I recently started a yoga class. I also live in a city so I walk and take public transport instead of driving so that adds steps 5) I wanted to lose .5 a week but have ended up losing like 1 lb a week without a lot…

Great job! I haven't lost that much but I think most people are going to tell you to keep going! Do what you are doing that's been helping you lose up to now and maybe take on some new activities or challenges. For me it is lifting free weights right now but it might be yoga soon. Take a healthy cooking class to learn how…

I do free weights. Started at 3 pounds each, got up to 12...started benching just the bar thing which I guess is 45 pounds. Then I stopped for a while and am getting back to that. I never did deadlifts or anything because I have back problems I don't want to aggravate. I prefer free weights overall for some reason.

I can't do them because my belly and my boobs get in the way lol. I do crunches, planking, other stuff for now.

I love these! There's a really good vegan chinese restaurant near me that makes them with vegan ham. I am not even vegetarian but I get them all the time. I should try to make them at home, I bet it's inexpensive.

I LOVE free weights because you can palpably feel progress happen as it gets easier to lift the weights and then you move up to a heavier weight. I like core strengthening for the same reasons, it is an accomplishment to be able to plank longer or do more crunches, etc. and there is no like...focus on being thinner or…

^^^that's a good point. I log my breakfast in the morning as I eat it and then add the lunch and snacks I packed for work and sort of sketch out dinner plans based on what calories are left. If it looks like I am going to go over then I make a point to do some exercising so I have a bit of wiggle room. Welcome, Dorian!

don't give up on exercising! I exercised for years without losing anything because I never was willing to change my diet. I still saw a lot of benefits to my physical fitness, mood, skin, hair, sleep, etc. Now that I am changing my food habits (mainly smaller portions, less restaurant food, swapping out whole grains for…

definitely do different things so you don't get bored.

brining chicken breasts might help keep them juicy: http://www.thekitchn.com/weeknight-meal-tip-try-a-quick-95560 If you are on a salt-restricted diet though, it is adding salt to your meal. It really keeps the meat moist though and I feel like if you only brine the chicken for an hour so in the fridge it might not be…

it could help to speak with a therapist to try and figure out if there's something leading you to binge eating. I'd also advise to "shop around" for a therapist you feel is really useful and helpful. Good luck! you are worth it.

a hard-boiled egg, string cheese stick, cucumber with salt and pepper or a drizzle of soy sauce, carrots with light ranch (I make it with greek yogurt). I basically snack all day on mostly savory stuff

sometimes loving your body is doing stuff to help it function better for longer? I started here a few weeks ago because I want to avoid medication (for high blood pressure) and am taking the approach that loving my body is including being more conscious of how I nurture it. I've gotten really into cooking healthy! It's…

thanks for posting this, really good

I like to eat food that ends up looking big on the plate? salads, veggies, fluffy whole grains like quinoa or wheat berries. Also stuff with fiber seems to keep me full. I usually eat pretty "clean" but I was going to restaurants a lot, too much butter, fat, salt etc. Dietician suggested I try for more fiber and lean…

I just saw a recipe that replaced some ground beef in meatballs with grated zucchini. I tried it and it was great! I used 1 medium zucchini, 97% lean ground beef, breadcrumbs with sprouted spelt bread (Ezekiel bread), 1 egg, 2 cloves minced garlic, finely chopped fresh cilantro, some cumin, salt and pepper. I baked the…

I don't know...I have been chubby and then fat for as long as I can remember but I really started gaining weight when I started eating school food and buying extra candy and junk food on my own as a child, etc. My mother especially was always making me feel guilty or punished about overeating and I remember she made me do…

I love roasted yams. One of those, a bit of cooked chicken and some sauteed greens is a great lunch. Quinoa salads, other whole grains, tomato sauce and mushrooms on top. Seared tuna with cucumbers, chives and some soy sauce and sesame oil. Add a half an avocado just before eating it. My co-workers were like o_0 about that…

I also am trying to rage harder ;) It's true that you have more fun partying if you're in good shape and eating well! Especially as you get older, taking care of yourself is the only option. PLUR =p

eating at restaurants has been a tough one for me because I like to go out a lot for socializing and seeing friends. I am thinking I might try to eat something healthy before I go out--even just a baked yam or a wasa cracker with avocado on it, a bit of chicken or salmon. So then when I am out I won't be as hungry and can…

Do you also not enjoy cooking? If you just don't know how to do it, then seriously consider taking a few classes on healthy cooking. It's a way better investment than going to a restaurant and you might meet people who are also into healthy food. Restaurant food is expensive! even fast food. I try to use my days off work…

I hear ya! I think a lot of this for me is trying to be an ally to my body. A lot of the conflict comes from my mother shaming and undermining me. Holding on to food and fatness became a way to defy her. I am also ambivalent but I want to do some activities that my body just isn't letting me do at my current weight. I am…

Hi! I've gotten into exercise, being strong, flexible and having endurance. I am losing weight gradually to meet fitness and strength goals but I don't want to be thin. I am feminist-oriented and I am kind of turned off by a lot of the "fat is always bad" stuff on MFP. It's a little hard to negotiate emotionally tbh. I…
