I lost 13% of my body weight and so far my knees almost never hurt anymore, my skin is looking amazing, blood sugar is no longer in prediabetic range, cholesterol down 20 points overall and my LDL/HDL ratio is much better. My next goal is to get cholesterol down further via eating more plant-based proteins but it’s tough…

This meal turned out surprisingly good! Lime spaghetti squash sautee that I topped with baked turkey meatballs that I made with maesri brand thai yellow curry paste, cilantro, fish sauce and keffir lime leaves in them. The sauce is just a bit of peanut butter and sweet chili sauce. I plan to make a bigger batch of the…

I was just posting about using ad blockers in this thread so I wonder if my comment will be approved.

thanks! I use this recipe to make kinpira gobo: https://www.justonecookbook.com/kinpira-gobo-braised-carrot-burdock-root/ If you can't buy burdock root where you live (chinese and korean markets have it, to pick fresh ones you want them not shriveled at the ends and to be firm) then carrot, turnip and parsnip, yam, lotus…

Chirashi bowl I made with my fave kagayaki 6 grain mix, homemade kinpira gobo, cucumbers with shoyu koji and the fish is chutoro, otoro and kampachi. Also some sauteed kale and avocado in there.

For tacos, try jackfruit! It's nutritious and so so good. https://itdoesnttastelikechicken.com/easy-vegan-jackfruit-tacos/ They often sell it prepped in the refrigerated meat substitute section at stores like Whole Foods but more and more stores have it nowadays. It's much better than eating too many highly processed items…

5.5 a1c isn’t bad imo. I like mine to be a bit lower because my mom has diabetes and I’m paranoid. I was prediabetic and I have been checking every 3 months because I’m very focused on maintaining a good level with no slide back towards prediabetes :)

Yes, it can be really unsettling to lose a large amount of weight. Sending support! You're not alone and I am proud of you for going to therapy.

Massaman curry with chicken, potato, carrots, spinach. It turned out really well thanks to maesri brand curry paste— recommended. They have a sour yellow curry paste I plan to try next.

I also wonder if a CT scan or MRI might be advisable? Ultrasound is not the most precise imaging and seems to miss things.

Thank you for the link to the thread

I will look at this book, thank you for the suggestion. I'm sorry that you are also going through this experience and maybe you could keep looking for a surgeon at the VA, perhaps in other nearby locations? I absolutely need to get surgery because the fibroid causes urinary urgency and it is affecting my quality of life in…

I am bumping this thread because I have a huge fibroid (26 cm) and I am so anxious about getting a hysterectomy / fibroid removal surgery and I'm looking for some support. Other than the anxiety I also am very angry because I've been going to the gynecologist complaining about pressure and pain in my abdomen since 2013,…

Wasa whole grain crisp bread— it’s like a slice of hearty cracker and very filling.

I marinade boneless chicken thighs in a plain yogurt/garlic/cumin/lemon mixture overnight, then bake or grill. Another ingredient I love to marinade chicken in is shio koji, it’s japanese. It’s a live fermentation culture and in like 2 hours makes chicken taste beyond delicious. Google shio koji marinade for more ideas.

I have failed in the past when I focus too much on weight loss as a goal. Working hard to adjust to considering the medical issues and now that weight is coming off again, examining my fears related to weight loss (failure, being or looking different because I have always been fat, change in general). I really do not want…

you can do it - stop and think about what's causing the recent changes. -are you not preparing food in advance or putting off preparing and thinking about food until you are too hungry to be mindful? -drinking alcohol? -no time to exercise? -think back to what you did and how you felt when you were meeting your health…

94% lean ground turkey soboro (that I cook with gochujang) with a bit of kagayaki 6 grain mix and riced cauliflower to bulk it up. Topped with fried shallots and chili crisp condiment.

Float tank sounds like a great idea. I hope it was restorative for you.

I also am prediabetic with high cholesterol. My mom has diabetes and my dad has heart disease. I pretty much cut out non-fruit sugars and refined carbs, cut down on dairy and have been trying to walk more often, eating lots of fruits, veg, leaner proteins, less restaurant food, weighing and measuring portions etc. Nothing…

Try gentle pelvic tilts while lying on your back and really think about engaging your whole core when you do them. Youtube if you don’t know how to do this. I also recommend dead bug and leg raises. It’s good to do exercises like this kinda slow and thoughtfully to start out.

walking! once you start to feel like it's a bit "easy" then introduce intervals on the treadmill where the pace increases for 1 or 2 minutes out of 10 or increase the incline slightly. This article in Self goes over some really basic free weight moves you can do with light weights - even 2 to 5 pound weights is good to…

-I try to eat slowly, chew and give it 15-20 minutes before getting more food and then if I am still hungry I eat a raw fruit or a vegetable like apple, carrot, sliced cucumber with some soy sauce on it, things like that rather than another full plate of a meal. -Drinking enough water. -Eating food with fiber / roughage at…

when I cut sugar I get really crabby and mean for like a week. I still do it but try to take a moment before I let something at work or home rile me up lol. It's still difficult for me to resist sweets.
