everyone is different. I have insulin resistance and am trying to take it one day at a time. I eat a lot of berries, carrots, beets, apples because they are sweet but also have fiber and are nutritious. Also on most days I am eating 5 dark chocolate-covered almonds very slowly, pausing in between each one. I'm not logging…

add foods with fiber and protein to your meals - for example if you're making scrambled eggs, add some sauteed kale or a few TB of leftover cooked quinoa. If you eat cheese, have it on a whole grain wasa cracker. Making a salad? put 1/4 cup black beans or chickpeas in there. That stuff has some calories of course but maybe…

Good job to everyone who quit!

Also consider that you might not see yourself and your appearance objectively. Losing 30 lbs is a real, objective achievement!

I eat them cut into chunks with golden plum brand chinese black vinegar, soy sauce and some chili oil on top of them.
-
sautee them with garlic, chile power and cumin and use for taco filling. Grate them and add to lowfat turkey meatballs.

Japanese food like sushi is good and all over but order sensibly--no tempura or rolls with sauce on them.

I find that when I'm in a calorie deficit, sometimes I am hungry later at night so I try to do things like push lunch to later and later so I can also eat dinner later. Fiber, fat and protein help keep hunger away but sugars and "white" carbs really kick my hunger into gear like a bagel or white bread will make me feel…

I think they work well in asian soups like ramen packet style. Look on YouTube for how to make miso broth - it's so easy and better than packets.
-
I wouldn't use shirataki noodles as a Western/Italian pasta replacement but I like them in asian soups, stir fries and salads.

looking great!

you're doing great! Let go of fear, it's the mind-killer ;)

take this as an opportunity to do some work on your mental state and your possibly ambivalent relationship with food. Examine what is causing the anxiety: weight gain, fears of loss of control, guilt, family baggage? It could be a lot of thing. These challenges and disruptions of routine can be very productive if you take…

I don't eat a lot of bread anymore, usually a bagel with lox and cream cheese for a weekend treat. I mostly eat wasa crackers or a slice of toasted mestemacher bread, which is swiss or german or something and extremely full of fiber lol. It's barely bread - more like a thin sliced cracker once toasted. I like the taste of…

Maybe try to start slow with something like restorative yoga? walking is good too if you are able to do that. Even 10 minutes, 1 or 2 times around the block is a start :) I'm having knee problems so haven't been exercising much - just stretching and Physical Therapy homework :/ I still lose when I use MFP to track my food…

2 wasa light rye crackers+1 wedge of laughing cow+mini cucumber slices with salt and pepper is like 100 calories and quite filling and tastes good.

I only lose weight when I weigh my food and track the calories - when I do that I lose with almost mathematical precision. Key to that is cooking 95% of my meals at home. It can seem tedious but it works and I'm a good cook so I enjoy the food I make. I wasn't aware of portion control being different from just weighing…

I am having knee problems as well and I'm doing my PT exercises. It's not cardio but I'm sure it helps. I'm also really going for it with the food scale/ calorie counting to get my weight down because the extra weight makes my knees worse. I bet swimming with your kids is good to do but be careful! Ask your PT or look at…

Yikes. I usually eat frozen bananas if I want ice cream. I hope you feel better soon!

The ethnic/international stores are much cheaper, especially Chinatown but the veggies and fruit spoil faster so you gotta cook them right away. Sometimes I cook and freeze veggie soups and stews made from imperfect bargain produce. Dried beans are much cheaper than canned. Goya is a good cheap brand for pantry items like…

Since April of 2015 I lost 30 and then gained back 20 but overall my weight is down and I am working at it again.

Wink sucks. I had it at a friend's place and was horrified lol.

Fresh & Co is way better than chop't and I think healthier options. Chop't...everything tastes the same and it's weird. I also like hale & hearty which has a lot of reasonable options. Summer rolls or grilled satay chicken from asian places are not too bad. Bareburger has a good turkey burger and you can get it wrapped in…

Pay attention to how you feel. If you're eating well and getting more exercise then feeling better is a great result to focus on.

I lowered my blood pressure and stopped snoring/sleep apnea by quitting smoking (didn't smoke much but still), getting some moderate exercise every week and losing a little over 10% of my body weight since 2014. Even gradual small changes will add up.

I prepay for classes, then I am too cheap to not go.

Be kind to yourself, you know how to eat sensibly. Take a look at your life, planning, scheduling of your days etc-- if a change like a new job, kid, moving house, divorce or marriage etc has derailed you then make time to take care of yourself. Don't be scared or anxious, that's a distraction from making positive change.

Resistance bands are great to make you stronger! I also like that they are inexpensive, portable and versatile.

I like yerba mate, but guarana makes me feel jittery. I'm dubious about this laxative thing and isn't it your liver that deals with toxins? I don't trust the whole "detox" trend.

I just want to get under 200 pounds. I'm honestly uncertain about going much lower than 180 because I've always been fat and I am uncomfortable with the idea of being actually thin. I'm 5'2".
