  • Sometimes I say 'screw it' and eat what I have planned. Sometimes I do something liveable to cut some calories--usually for me its ditch the potato, rice or w/e carbohydrate. Sometimes I exercise more. Sometimes I make steamed broccoli with "I can't believe its not butter" and drink a mug of chicken broth to help fill me…
  • If you are getting a vigorous workout, try to eat more frequently and get back some of those calories. I do agree with eating snacks such as fruit or nuts if you are hungry that soon after a large meal--but if the meal was tiny, your body might be needing more than a snack.
  • Sounds like its time for thrift store shopping. I bought 4 complete outfits plus a few extra shirts for 50 bucks at the beginning of the year.
  • Shop with a supportive buddy--one who will make you try on new stuff just for fun.
  • It's not a fast fix, but visualize yourself saying no to tempting foods and choosing other foods instead. You should include an emotional response in your visualization--such as taking a walk and feeling less stressed. The more you picture yourself in control and being the person you want to be, the easier it will be. When…
  • you can also mix in 1 chocolate cake mix with a can of pureed pumpkin--nothing else--just keep stirring until it forms a gooey mass and bake.
  • I just got paid (I'm a teacher and get paid once a month) and did not go out to eat b/c I couldn't think of a restaurant that was worth that many calories.
  • Life can be very overwhelming. You may have to choose some activities to give up, but you have to eat anyway so you might as well eat healthy. Taking a ten minute walk won't take much time ( I also use videos from 10 min solutions) but you will feel better and more capable after you do it. I've been losing weight slowly…
  • I really understand what you mean. I'm losing slowly, but each time I see the scale drop a little bit I realize that the changes I've made are working. This time my entire outlook has changed rather than just what I eat or do physically.
  • Tbh I think its awesome that you have maintained your current weight without gaining or losing for a while. It seems like sometimes we need a chance to get used to where we are b4 we can move on. You need to at least take progress pics for yourself to see the new you--wearing a size 14 after a 22 must be pretty awesome!!!!
  • Sounds like may be extra skin with cellulite. Just keep working out and you will lose more fat. I know some people have to have a tummy tuck after extreme weight loss to get rid of extra skin and others who don't lose an extreme amount sometimes report skin tightening up over time.
  • I make vegetable lasagna with sauteed mushrooms and spinach and freeze it and single serving portions.
  • Not to be too simplistic, (I don't know how old your kids are) but my boys like to do 'make your own' pizzas. You can use english muffins for the crust, add homemade or store bought pizza sauce and whatever vegetarian cheese and toppings they like. Even if you don't use vegetarian cheese, the sauce will still go nicely…
  • That's pretty awesome. Most of my weight gain was after I got married, so my wedding band doesn't even fit right now.
  • I like the olive oil and rosemary veggie straws.
  • Great job!!! Enjoy your weekend!
  • I like sweets too. I usually keep some fruit strips (50 cal) or 80 cal popsciles on hand. I also always have fruit on hand. I don't have any particular sweet cravings though. I just like something at night.
  • I'm a hot wing junkie so if anyone has a good recipe for that I would love it. I like fries as well. Sometimes I buy the bagged fries at the store that have been par fried and I bake them in the oven (they are quite good that way) and sometimes I cut potatoes into pieces and shake them in a mixture of flour and various…
  • Try to invent a hobby to get you through. You've spent so much time with this person and now that's time to spare. Having something to do will give you a sense of purpose and help you grow in ways that doesn't include your ex.
  • You can add in the grilled chicken breast and then add a teaspoon of a fat (such as butter) to your logged calories for that meal. That way, you know its not accurate, but prob comparable.
  • I'm a teacher and I was able to find some really great clothes at Goodwill. You have to really look, but they are there and you can get a lot more stuff with out hurting your wallet.
  • I don't cook thai food, so I was thinking something basic like: marinated grilled chicken and zucchini (I usually marrinate and grill separate with soy sauce, canola oil, garlic and seasoning of choice). salad (you can use reduced fat or fat free) fruit tart for dessert: http://www.joyofbaking.com/FruitTart.html But it…
  • I wouldn't go sexy unless you want to be hit on. However, you can wear a nice skirt suit that says, "attractive yet professional".
  • If you're hungry right before bed sometimes a glass of milk helps. It has calcium which you need and if you drink 1% or 2% it will give you a bit of fat along with the protein so you will feel more satisfied. I know the days I don't bother to eat anything b4 bed when I'm hungry, I wake up feeling terrible.
  • June goals! I didn't even think about them until I saw this thread! 1. Give up ribs and hot wings, esp the hot wings (I dearly love them) 2. No more french fries (that one's easy) 3. More water. 4. Get into the 160s (I'm at 173 but going on vacation) 5. Find a way to work out no matter how blasted hot it is in GA!
  • LOL! I love your post. One of my friends is a coffeeaholic and seeing her bad habits in front of her aggravated her as well. She still drinks her coffee, but other fatty foods that she likes she's decreased out of pure annoyance with the numbers. I drink hot tea myself and I've cut the milk and am working on decreasing the…

  • I usually get szechwan chicken b/c it comes with a lot of veggies and the chicken isnt fried. I'm not sure how many calories it is though (and it is a bit spicy). The chinese restaurant I go to has light options as well.
  • If there is anything you really like you can take it to a seamstress to have taken in to your current size. That way you can keep the things you like and it won't give you an easy out if you gain weight. Do keep a few items at their full size for a reminder--something you have a picture of yourself in.
  • I would go ahead and eat back the exercise calories if you are still hungry. You might want to eat more fiber (I haven't looked at your food diary, so I don't know where you are on that) to stay full. But I would def not advise giving up an exercise that you enjoy.
  • You can find out if your area has a food co-op. Dried beans and rice are cheap, healthy and easy to fix. You can also plant a small garden, even a couple tomato plants in pots will provide extra food for little cost. Also the More for Less cookbook has a lot of great options.
