The only foods that have cholesterol are animal products. If you don't eat animals or their byproducts (dairy & eggs), you can effectively manage your cholesterol. I have genetically high cholesterol - the bad kind - but it has subsided since I began a plant based diet. Drugs work too. That is a method many people use.…

I haven't been in this situation but have been in similarly controlling/manipulative relationships. I walk away and never look back. Block the number. Change ID on Facebook and other social media. Ghost. Good luck, stay strong, and remember you.

I have been vegan for a few years and a balanced diet is key to longevity. The Vegan Starter Kit is an amazing resource and Veganuary is coming up. There are a lot of great blogs out there like the Post Punk Kitchen and Oh She Glows. I also really like One Green Planet - they have great cheese recipes and stories about…

There are a ton of good food blogs that can help with recipes and preparing foods that one wouldn't normally eat. I recommend: One Green Planet, anything by Isa (so easy and delish), and of course, Oh She Glows. Goal based cooking helped get my pallet to open up and try new things. Enjoy!

This is great advice. A professional will be able to diagnose the issue (I use my PT), and the solution could be as simple as streching the hips or IT; or it could be more complicated. I have also found the mid foot strike really helped my pain level versus the heel strike I used to do. Either way, as a runner - which you…

People who hold themselves up on the stair master putting all the weight into their arms and none in their legs.

When I'm at the gym, I look around and feel glad that we are all there working toward a common goal. Regardless of size and fitness, every person I see is putting time toward themselves and actively choosing to be a healthier person. We are all part of a team: the Fitness Force. Go for it. It is just one more barrier…

If you are totally married to underpants and cannot live without them by going commando, then try Commando: http://www.wearcommando.com/?gclid=CIDPotavh8ICFYVhfgodXlUAiQ. I swear by them; they will never show no matter what you're wearing (yoga pants, silk dressies, etc.). They usually have a decent selection on sale.…

Back in the day, my favorite Philly Cheese steak place in Denver was called Denver Teds. I ordered my cheese steak with mushrooms and onions, a side of fries, and a pop. I finished and feeling like there was space to spare and a strong craving for the sequel, I ordered the exact same thing again, and ate it on the spot.

I donate whole blood and platelets regularly. At the time that I started, I hated needles - not to say I'm hugely fond of them now. Here is my method: when the needle finally rears it's ugly head, I turn away and sing the Star Spangled Banner - usually just the first part. Once the needle is in there, I take slow breaths…

I started my veganism because my boyfriend convinced me to. I thought that I would stick with it for health reasons (genetically high cholesterol and weight loss). I stayed a vegan for the morality of it and because after my body adjusted (6-8months) I feel amazing. Physically and morally, it feels incredible. In summary,…

People who yell out of their cars are trashy (unless it is in friendly greeting which this clearly wasn't). That person is probably sad and unhappy and feels the need to spread their negativity. Simply maintain your positive perspective and positive trajectory in your fitness plan, and rest assured that you do not have to…

Dear OP, I have 2 points: 1) calories in vs calories out 2) macros Summary: vegan food is still food hence it has calories and must fit within the balance of the macros. Sincerely, A vegan person

Our stories sound similar. I'm 5'3'' and got up to 150# in 2012. I narrowed that down to 135-140# with moderate exercise and a plant based diet. I wanted to be more fit, more firm - I wanted to transform my life and lifestyle from someone who was inclined to a sedentary existence to a person who was active and could use my…

This topic really resonates for me. My own shadow confuses me. It used to be a blob and now it has a waist. I have cheekbones now and no matter what angle, I don't have a double chin in pictures. Just yesterday I bought a bunch of new bras because I have dropped 1-2 cup sizes. Pants that were so tight are now way too…

Chocolate chip cookies made with quinoa flour. They were like cookie taffy. They made excellent dog treats.

My family has genetically high cholesterol. I was tested when I was 24 and my numbers were much higher than what was considered healthy despite good eating habits and regular physical activity. Soon after, I began a plant based diet. I cut out meat and dairy entirely since those are the two primary culprits of bad…

^^ Damn if that isn't the best analogy I've heard in a very long time. Thank you.

I felt bold enough to wear a muscle T during my workout class, and when I looked in the mirror during plank I was shocked to see what appeared to be shredded abs. That was a first, and it was thrilling. I felt like such a badass.

I eat everything with chopsticks.

There are a ton of resources out there for vegan options. I recommend checking out these two sites to start: http://www.onegreenplanet.org/ http://www.vegankit.com/

Consider a meat free, dairy free life as a philosophy or a lifestyle - you don't need it to lose weight and you don't necessarily lose weight on that type of diet. There are many fantastic health benefits if you choose to take that path and practice a balanced diet. Check out http://www.vegankit.com/ since it has some…

My Fitbit One is my best friend. There are other Fitbits that are also awesome; check out amazon and see if there is a style that works best for her. I really like the weekly reports that are generated and it links up with MFP quite well.
