Just wanted to tell the world - I took things into my own hands and started treatment myself, and I feel FANTASTIC! Took Methyl B12 on its own for a few days with no problems, then I introduced Methylfolate. The change has been amazing - deep fatigue has melted away and I now feel positive and optimistic (I hadn't…

I'm a bit confused about something - can anybody help? My nutritionist doesn't want to start me on any treatment (other than gut repair) until we've had my homocysteine results back (another couple of weeks yet). I'm anxious to start on treatment, but he says we have to wait because he doesn't know if my gene is 'under or…

Sorry, cw3j, I haven't seen anything online either. In fact, there just isn't much information out there at all, other than the really scientific stuff. I think it is because it has only relatively recently been 'discovered' as an issue. But there is a very active Yahoo group - why don't you join and ask there? It's called…

Hello ShelleyLo. Which mutation do you have? The C677T or A1298C? Have you had your homocysteine level tested? Does fatigue and / or depression play a part in your weight issues? So sorry to bombard you with questions, but I think it could help to check that you are getting treated for the MTHFR thing properly first.

Hello all! I have recently found out that I have the compound heterozygous mutation. I'm waiting for a homocysteine test to be done, but am anxious to start on supplements. I'm researching as much as I have time for on the internet, but gosh, the science baffles me a bit!
-
Yes, I've just found out that I have significant mutations (also through the 23andme route): I am 'Compound Heterozygous'. I'm going to have my homocysteine levels tested soon.

Hello, and welcome! We have a 5:2 group here, with lots of nice, supportive people - come and join! :flowerforyou: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/8005-5-2-fasting

Don't worry about it at all - a lot of evidence is now showing that it's actually a very healthy thing to do. Check out 'intermittent fasting'.

Absolutely no need to apologise - you love her, and you are bound to feel emotional.

That's an awful situation, and doesn't bode well for the little girl's future happiness if the arguing continues. I don't know how the system works in the US, but is there any kind of mediation service available? Here in the UK this is widespread, and seems to work better than having lawyers in opposite positions, fuelling…

That's great! I will observe your progress with interest. I almost said I would give it ago myself, then remembered I am already eating MUCH more than I should, lol!
-
Excellent! Keep up the good work!
-
What a wonderful story! Huge congratulations on achieving your goal - you look stunning! Can I ask your advice - I've done NROLFW, and am now doing Stronglifts 5x5; do you think it would be a step backwards to do CLX?

OK, so I saw the doctor and she told me that TSH 4.9 was not considered high at all, but actually pretty low. She might think 10 was high, she said. I'm having my T4 level tested again in 4 weeks, but my TSH in 3 months. When I told her about the hunger, the muscle pains etc, she said she didn't think they would be…

Thank you Debby - it certainly is a good website! So many issues to consider though ... seems like you need a lot of knowledge and skills to deal with everything!

What a great story! It shows your very good sense and your commitment to health and fitness as well as purely aesthetic considerations. It also serves as an example of why I like MFP so much; it's truly educational and inspiring. On your own, who knows, you might have continued on 700 calories, got ill and given up. But…

I tried everything, absolutely everything and I still had a disproportionately large belly. Then I found heavy lifting, and it really has gone. I've opened up my profile temporarily - there are some 'before and after lifting pics there - hope you can see the difference.
-
Thanks for posting - will watch asap.
-
Thanks; I'm going to try the ankle exercises.
-
Thank you, 2hobbit1!

I'm slightly reluctant to post this, as I think I'm becoming a bit of a fasting bore to some of my pals, so for anyone who already knows me, just ignore this! I had exactly the same issue after 6 months of the NROLFW, and now continuing on Stronglifts 5x5. I was relatively lean when I started lifting, but put on a few…

Good idea!
-
Ah yes, the protocols group - I'm going to get in there, but would like to join a specific 5:2 one also. Perhaps if we drop enough hints ...
-
Don't think so - fancy starting one? I'll join!
-
Yes, count me in! What shall we call it?!
-
Yes, I get that, but what about exercise? I'm doing Stronglifts 5 x 5 - do I sacrifice muscle gain to the greater god of living longer by lowering my protein?
