Off to lurk for a while on bodybuilding.com!

Wow! That doesn't look at all messy to me - it looks great! Is that a water-rower in the corner? Nice!
-
Thanks RickinHouston and mutantspicy. I was assuming that the wood floor would struggle with the weight of the equipment, and I would have to take it up then lay matting directly on concrete beneath. Any thoughts?
-
Thank you rileyes - very interesting!
-
Just discovered that companies offer a gym planning tool, such as this one: http://fitness-superstore.planningwiz.com - very useful (if accurate).
-
Thanks rileyes, but UK visitors are not allowed to view!

Wow, all such helpful posts - thank you! I think I will definitely get a rack and barbell now, but I have a few things to google (e.g. foldout rack at Rogue, horse stall mats, women's bar, landmine sleeve ... ). A trainer at my gym suggested a TRX system, but when I've tried it I don't get on with it as well as with free…

Thanks both; very reassuring in terms of space (but I take the point about the footprints @lorrpb). I'm in the UK, and until this summer I would have said no need for AC, but if we are going to have regular heatwaves like the one we are having this year, then it will be essential!

Thanks both. Still getting cramp, but I'm beginning to think there may be something else wrong, like thyroid issues. I'm so exhausted all the time now, and I should be well-adapted by now (7 weeks). Time to make an appointment, I think.

Oh, and tofu. And yoghurt.

I eat eggs in different forms, different types of cheese, loads of nuts and nut butter (yum!), roasted seeds, cream, and let's not forget that some vegetables have protein too. I check on a good keto calculator from time to time, and my macros are fine.
-
I'm on day 36 as a vegetarian, and I'm doing fine!
-
Nope. I was wrong. Last night it was the worst ever - I was crying out loud with the pain. Have bought some spray-on magnesium (no aspartate in the shops here in the UK - have to wait for online delivery). Wise woman in health food shop strongly urged me to drink more water.
-
3 nights with no cramp! Do you think I've cracked it? Haven't even taken any different supplements yet.
-
P.S. Forgot to say - I'm 5' 2" and 114 pounds.

Gosh, I really appreciate all these thoughtful replies! First of all, an interesting convergence on Magnesium. @Ali59oc, @DittoDan, I have been taking Magnesium Citrate - tablet form from Solgar - at 450mg per day. Thanks @Ali59oc, I will definitely try the Aspartate version and see if there is such a dramatic difference…
-
Thanks @BansheeCat. I now realise that I didn't make it clear - the cramp is in my legs!
-
Thanks for your thoughts @mherbert - I appreciate it. I've got the B12 thing covered - it may not mean anything, but I have a mutation on the MTHFR gene, and require a special form of B12 which I've been taking daily for a couple of years now. I do also eat eggs and dairy. Protein? 72g today, and the last few days have…

Thanks everybody. I'm still getting cramp, but now going to bed earlier just to get more sleep between attacks! Specific responses: @sljohnson1207 - I know my doctor would simply tell me to stop the diet! I am drinking a lot of water, but did find this interesting paper…

I'm another who doesn't want to do this forever. My goals are health-related, not to do with weight loss. Like the OP I want to become keto adapted, but then choose to dip in and out of ketosis.

Thanks, @eatingfatbeingfat. The hunger surprised me too! However, I'm on day 3 of lower carbs (aiming for about 20g), and so far, I'm free from any major hunger pangs. So maybe that was it - I was simply eating too many carbs perhaps? I'm taking potassium (and magnesium) supplements, so I should be OK there, and I do lift…

The trouble with Alzheimer's Disease is that there doesn't seem to be a magic bullet, and there is frantic research going on about everything you can think of. However, just a couple of weeks ago a paper was published where they had managed to reverse the symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease / cognitive decline. It was only a…

Thanks, @Wonderfullymadebyhim - I do exercise quite a bit (6 days a week, anyway), but I must remember to drink more water. And thanks too @JerryHowell88 - I do take a combination of vitamins and minerals, but I noticed that I've missed my electrolytes lately, so reinstating those at a higher dose. And @Niccidawn092 /…

Thank you both. Lower carb, here I come!

Yep, FB is an evil creation and willpower is required to keep away from it. This is my FB now - I don't even log on to the other one any more. I recommend spending some time looking at some of the pics on the 'Success Stories' section here - very inspiring. Good luck!
-
I like this thread! I'd love to see more pics of progress too, for inspiration. Can anyone oblige?
-
I take 500 µg per day - as in half of one of these: http://www.solgar.co.uk/SolgarProducts/Folate-1000.htm
-
Yes, I'm taking Hydroxy B12, aka Hydroxocobalamin which suits some people better, depending on what's happening with your other genes.
-
Hi must_deflate. Glad you've found out about it - it's going to be very much in your favour from now on. Yes, I am compound heterozygous like you, and I've been supplementing for about a year now. I experienced a great improvement at the beginning, which then levelled out. It turns out I was taking the wrong form of…

Wow! I didn't realise you'd lost that much weight - that's a great achievement! But you climbed all those mountains in 24 hours? Incredible! I am finding maintenance quite difficult myself, so your post has given me some of the inspiration I badly need - thanks!
