  • Just for today I'm going to stick to my 500 calories (on the 5:2 diet). The day's nearly over. I can do this (I hope!).
  • I was really surprised about this so looked it up but it looks like it is: "III. MANDATORY (“BACK OF PACK”) NUTRITION LABELLING Content of nutrition declaration Mandatory nutrition declaration You must declare the following items: (a) energy value (in both kilojoules (kJ) and kilocalories (kcal)); and (b) the amounts (in…
  • I suppose the carbs I do eat (which I eat too many of!) tend to complex carbs like brown bread (I swear I have a toast addiction), brown rice, new potatoes etc because I genuinely prefer them to their "white" counterparts.. I have to try my best to avoid simple carbs in general especially if they also are high sugar like…
  • I find I rarely (if ever) hit the sodium level.. I don't know if UK food has less salt in it than in other countries or if it's just because I cook most of my meals from scratch (but I still eat processed snacks etc and I'm no saint and have pizza/fast food about once a week atm) but I am puzzled by the fact I seem to eat…
  • Haha I tried slimfast and just ended up eating meals and the drinks at the same time! I put a lot of weight on! They're so full of sugar they make you really hungry. They're not worth the money or time in my opinion.
  • This a thousand times. However, if you are suffering from PTSD which it sounds like you might be, you may have to work on getting a handle on your drinking before dealing fully with the PTSD which is really bloody hard because the drink is serving an important purpose right now- it's helped you survive up until this point…
  • I can't tell you how ridiculously happy it made me to see myself in the top 25! Thanks for doing that :D. Gave me a bit of a boost today. Congrats to everyone else too! Good luck with the next week. I was lucky this week, I'm doubtful I'm going to lose that much (if any) again but I'm glad I got off to a good start,
  • Seeing yourself as "too big" and seeing your self as the same as the 280lb woman aren't the same thing. The anorexic will still see areas on their body they need to lose weight from so they will see themseleves as "too big". That's what I meant. No doubt it's different for every sufferer but I know from my own experience…
  • It shouldn't be acceptable either way to ridicule someone for their weight... However... When someone is unhealthily underweight they aren't always aware they're too thin. If they're suffering from an eating disorder for example they may actually believe they need to lose more and are too big.. so then it's okay to call…
  • OMG can I just say I just tried to cottage cheese with cocoa and sweetener- utterly amazing and so so delicious! Used a couple of tablespoons fat free cottage cheese with a tsp green and blacks cocoa powder and a tsp of sweetner- probably could use a bit less sweetener but so so so yummy!
  • I always found the idea of cottage cheese and fruit weird- I hate it with pineapple in like it's sold in the supermarkets here but I finally decided to try it with apple and cinnamon and it was amazing! So I love it with a chopped apple and a fairly decent amount of cinnamon- doesn't need any sweetener. Definitely worth…
  • My mum had her gall bladder removed as an emergency and experienced intermittent pain whenever she ate anything containing fat for a while. I know she has had similar problems to you. She's on this site too so I'll let her know about this thread!
  • Can I join? :)
  • OMG can I just second this?! I'm so relieved. Ever since I was a teenager I thought there was something seriously wrong with the shape of me and that no one else looked like I did. It's always weirded me out and made me feel self conscious. It's just reassuring to know it's a "thing"! Thank you!!!!
  • .. Double Post, don't know how to delete sorry!
  • Awesome! A dietitian is a fantastic idea! I never thought of that. I've been trapped in the weighing yourself every day trap. I don't know why it's so addictive- I ended up doing it several times a day at one point and it does nothing but screw with your head so well done on picking up on that being unhelpful and…
  • Please add me :)
  • Aww you just made my day bless you  xxx
  • Can I just say how awesome it is you listened to people and took the advice on board! That's refreshing. How're you getting on now? I know it's only been like 4 days I guess I was just thinking of you. I can totally understand being nervous about speaking to your Dad. You could always see a different doctor. Please do…
  • Honey MFP isn't the place for you right now. It's helping fuel this obsession with your intake. The poster above brought up a great point- why are you monitoring your blood sugar if you don't have diabetes? That is disordered. It's also normal for your blood sugar to dip after eating sugar, that's how your body works but…
  • You need to have a chat with your doctor. As you already know your intake is far too low and it is possible to become malnourished whilst overweight. Sudden unexplained appetite loss needs to be investigated by your doctor to rule out any other causes than stress especially since you fainted- this is another symptom you…
  • Oh God I relate to this. This is why I'm having to lose weight for the first time in my life! I used to run three times a week, go to the gym every other day, walk the dogs for an hour in the evening, garden and have an active incredibly physical job. Then 12 months ago I lifted a pot in the garden and a disc in my back…
  • The thing that's worked for me by accident is the 5:2 diet. I was convinced it was going to actually make things worse at first and for a bit it did.. but now it's reset my hunger signals and really shrunk my appetite. I physically can't binge anymore- I've tried. i just can't get the food in. It only works if you eat…
