Although it just dawned on me that your profile pic is different hair, cute too! I was looking at the before/after pictures at the top (I don't want you to think I'm dissing your current style).

Wonderful work! Love the blonde hair on you. Thanks for sharing your story and progress pics with us.

I find it helpful to look at my weekly average, instead of my day by day goal. If I'm having a low hunger, really busy day, I might end up with a -1000 calorie deficit, which allows me to eat at maintenance on another day. Together they average to two -500 days (the goal for 1 lb. a week). Have a little fun with this…

@ilex70 - Very interesting information.

I think it really does land in the realm of addictions and psychological problems, and as such it's important to view extreme obesity through that lense. The show Hoarders? There's an example of living, daily, in a home that literally becomes life threatening, bags of excrement and adult diapers piled to the ceiling. Most…

Very inspiring!

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it and make sure I've synced everything and given it time. I always wait until the day after at the very minimum to record the previous day in my spreadsheet. I double checked my time zone and all my settings, nothing was wonky. Odd!

That is a good idea. I've thought about trying to start a local weight loss group that would include in-person weekly meetings + weigh-in. Something similar to TOPS, but more "come one, come all" type of an approach (and less formal). Not sure how I could actually make that happen, though.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question @heybales - I had no idea it was that complex. I enter my Calories Burned (per my phone app) into my spreadsheet anywhere from several hours after midnight to 5 days after. I always triple check my numbers, because that's how I roll, so it was odd to see that so many days…

Wine in a measuring cup! LOL He's a keeper.

I think NOT eating the food he cooks bothers him (though he's really not the type to say out loud that anything bothers him). Especially long cooked/smoked meats that he puts a lot of effort into. But, since I didn't weigh the meat raw nor measure the oil and spices, I have no desire to eat any while I'm actively trying to…

That sounds good! Thanks for the tip.

^ I love seeing data like that! I've been unable to get a perfect month or more of perfect logging, but hopefully I will get a solid streak of weeks someday so that I can crunch my numbers.

A fantastic success story! Great work.

I love my Aria and would buy it again if it broke tomorrow. The fact that all I have to do is step on it and my weight is recorded on FitBit and MFP is great, helps me to see trends and patterns (as where with manually entering my weight, I sometimes felt too down on myself to record 'bad' weigh-ins). No BS now.

Amen! I love this post, clear cut and to the point.

I feel you, looking for "chicken" makes my head spin.

Holy moly! What a transformation! Thank you for sharing and inspiring.

I don't pay attention to macros at all and so far it's working for me. If I'm in a deficit, I lose weight. You have to find something that is sustainable for life. If you're making yourself miserable, it's not going to work long term. What works for one person may not be right for you, so find a way to make it enjoyable -…

I'll try that, thanks for the tip!

I love roasted veggies! Question with the broccoli... I always feel like I have to add A LOT of oil to the broccoli I intend to roast, because the florets seem to soak it up so fast or the oil doesn't seem to distribute very well (I shake my veggies in a bag with the oil and spices before I roast them). Any tips? Will one…

You look fantastic! Congrats on your hard work and thank you for sharing your success story!

Glucerna Shakes are supposedly for diabetics, you could compare them to your Metagenics. Using shakes to lose weight always made me incredibly hungry and not satisfied. It's hard enough to be in a caloric deficit, why make it worse by drinking calories that could have been eaten in the form of solid foods. Good luck,…

I'm going to send you a link to a book I found particularly helpful, perhaps the description will ring true to your situation (feel free to disregard, of course). Best wishes, I hope you find a solution!

How is your mood? Do you feel moody/cranky, easily irritable? Would you describe the overeating as "emotional overeating"?

Check out this calculator: http://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php Enter your goal weight maintenance calories and you can see how long it would take to actually reach goal. For me, it would take two years and the end would be incredibly slow with zero room for error.
