Any good bariatric surgery program should be providing all this information for you and include plenty of educational sessions in one form or another pre-op. Does your program provide you with information on what life and eating after surgery should involve?

Ha! I knew exactly what you were talking about from the title. I started on the normal side and then had to switch to the plus side (that was a call to reality). I hope I can cross the line again one day! Then again that store always makes me think of my brother-in-law who once commented he couldn't imagine any woman…

Everyone is different, but from my experience, the only thing that cured my hangries was eating more. I seem to do great with a 400-500 calorie deficit, but as soon as I start getting into the 600-800+ deficit range consistently I start to experience negative side effects, such as feeling cold all the time, suboptimal…

I get that too when I'm dieting! I don't know why. They were so sunken and dark I couldn't even cover it up with makeup. Even my husband said I wasn't looking well (and he never comments on my appearance). I've eaten at maintenance/surplus the last 4 days (sort of a screw up on my part after 3 really stressful weeks) and…

HELLZ NO! Even... once upon a time... when I was "about to burst" pregnant at a prenatal appointment, the nurse was surprised I hadn't gained weight and started to state my weight out loud in front of my husband. I interrupted her with "WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!! + waving hand gestures to get her to stop talking.. I told her I…

I find that I'm more susceptible to getting sick when in a deficit, though a smaller deficit seems less taxing on my body than a bigger deficit.

Talk about a well earned trip to the salon! Great work and congrats on the normal BMI milestone.

Great work! Walking is my favorite exercise, too.

Great input everyone, thank you!

What a great summary @babyrover - thank you for sharing and a big congratulations on your loss. Let us know how the months following removal go!

It's in my top 2 diet books ever! And I've read a lot of them. :D In fact, that book convinced me to give calorie counting another try. The book is nothing 'new,' by which I mean you will probably have heard of or come across about 90% of the content. However, the way he explains everything and the approach he takes is…

This is what I have as well; the pull out display comes in handy for weighing large platters, bowls, sheet pans, etc.

I watched the first PiYo DVD, the introduction/how-to part, and I was so overwhelmed! The moves seemed so specific, regarding how to position your body, which muscle you should feel working, etc. It was intimidating. Did anyone else feel this way? Did it/does it get easier and make more sense if you keep doing it? I don't…

That does sound cute, I guess one of these days I'll have to give up my stubborn refusal to update the app to the new permanent UI. I guess I have app OCD... I like all my info in lines, not circles! :D

Good luck! I've been curious about this procedure. I looked into it once and there were so many mixed reviews I didn't know what was what, plus it is still a relatively new device in the states. I hope everything goes well!

Wait, what's a FitBit happy dance? Is that on the app (as in a graphic) or does your FitBit buzz/vibrate? Just curious, I have a One and I know nothing of a happy dance.

Great work! And congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

Thank you!

How/Where can we check whether we are sharing our My Foods entries with the database? I don't see any setting to indicate that information on the app nor on the website. Uesful info on this thread! I didn't even know we could edit our My Foods, that is helpful (I use the app almost exclusively, and I don't think there is a…

Super work! Can I ask how tall you are?

Way to go!

I struggle with the yo-yo cycle, too, and I've never once thought to not set a goal weight. That really is a tremendous concept. I keep thinking about the words you shared and the implications of what life would look like without a goal weight, it would shift the mental anguish that is 'the scale' to something far more…

Great work, good luck with the competition!

Have you by chance compared steps per minute on the treadmill vs. outdoors over a set time interval? Walking and running outdoors (or an open track) has certain advantages in terms of speed and gait. When you really hit the zone on a good walk, you speed up naturally without having to push a button on the treadmill.…
