  • All exercises are not created equal, but all exercise calories are. What I mean is that if I take leisurely walk around the neighborhood vs doing a hard run on a treadmill, the run will burn more calories (if done for the same amount of time). However, burning 100 calories running vs burning 100 calories walking is equal…
  • I like the heart rate feature for resting heart rate. The readings during exercise are often off, so don't expect to use it for "zone" training. That is what the lawsuits are for, that they are usually under reporting heart rate during exercise, and I've found it to be true by a good 20-30 which is a large amount if you're…
  • I hate it. It is no different than catcalling, which is also a huge pet peeve. Just to add, you shouldn't have to justify yourself by explaining what you're wearing. I don't care if you are wearing booty shorts and a sports bra, it doesn't change that the behavior is unacceptable. The respect you deserve as a person isn't…
  • I had a charge hr I wore everyday for a long time, no issues with durability. I upgraded to a Blaze, gave my charge to my mom, and it is still working great.
  • I've had a lot of them. I've had a One, Zip, Flex, Charge Hr, and now have a Blaze. Clearly I like them and feel they are a good investment. It helps me be honest about how active I really am. Before I had one, I didn't realize how sedentary I actually was! Having had data helps me . As far as accuracy, that depends on the…
  • I typically don't eat breakfast, or lunch most of the time. I find if I start eating early, I get hungry and want to eat all day, and it also leaves me with less food in the evening. I do best with starting to eat around 4pm and then eating a larger dinner and after dinner snack. The only exception is if I do hard work…
  • Not that I'm aware of. I tried before. I think it either links the entire account or not.
  • I go to a gym with similar rules, but not a planet fitness. There are Smith machines (I guess, but the kind that also go forward ans back) and deadlifting is allowed, but they are strict on grunting and dropping weights. They've got lots of signs up about it. I joined because of those things, honestly. I worked out at LA…
  • Of your calorie count is 1200, it won't show negative adjustments anyway. So if you are set at 1200, you will see nothing until you have a positive adjustment, because it wont let you drop belowb1200.
  • Look on Groupon for good prices for lots of local options . There can be boxing, martial arts, dance, all sorts of things you might not have considered. It got me started bouldering and I love it! It's so much fun I am sad I need aso much rest between sessions. Try some stuff you might never have thought about before!
  • I go to a gym that has classes based on the same idea. It isn't called Orange Theory, of course, but it is the same sort of exercises, heart rate monitors, a break down of strength and cardio, even the rowers. I really like the workouts, of course, I pay way less for my membership and get access to an entire gym.
  • I am super new at it, but I really love it! I picked up my first pair of climbing shoes this weekend. So, I can't offer any advice, since I am just learning myself, but I wanted to offer support at least. =)
  • It depends on what I am doing. If I am very sore, I will take more days off. If I am not that sore, I'll work out. I always try to walk, however, so I only avoid more strenuous exercise.
  • I use a commercial gym and also a rock climbing gym. I could never afford the amount or quality of equipment that the gyms have, and I enjoy group classes. Lastly, I like child care so I can work out in peace, so commercial gyms work well for me
  • Honestly, it's okay to do things apart. If you are giving up things you enjoy to fit onto his life, maybe you should focus on keeping the things you like rather than just spending that time with him. If he wants to join in, je will. You can always give a standing offer, but otherwise I'd suggest getting back on your…
  • There are a few options. You can ignore everyone else, put on your head phones and get though it. You can find a gym buddy because people feel better about doing stuff in a pair. You can get into the classes or anything likethat to make friends, because being part of a group can make it more comfortable . All of them…
  • It just depends on what you want, how you carry weight, and your muscle mass. What I mean is that someone with more muscle will weigh more despite looking smaller, which can change their goals. So someone who doesn't want to lift may have a lower goal weight because they will carry less muscle. Likewise, people with…
  • 1200 can seem like a lot when you first start, because you scrutinize everything and cut out many of the calorie dense foods. If people move to eating tons of veggies ans low calorie foods, it can be easy to end the day and realize you didnt eat much. However this will catch up with you. I ended up with headaches and…
  • I was surprised though I shouldn't have been. From a scale test (so not that accurate) it was 47%. It shocked me because I was in some pretty marvellous denial.
  • Wrist worn ones will, of course, count some arm movement. You could get a type that you put on your body elsewhere, which might be more accurate. Personally, I use it for activity. Does it count some steps that didn't happen? Sure, and other times it undercounts steps. Either way, it helps me to stay active and strive to…
  • Being able to "carry weight well" doesn't make a person not overweight. Appearance isn't the same as health. BMI doesn't always work, mostly for people who have a lot of muscle. As others have mentioned, as well, we grow used to seeing larger people, so we often can't tell what is overweight anymore.
  • Like anything, different things work for different people. For me, the scale is an important data point. I use it as such (especially when using weight trend instead of specific weight). For other people, it's a form of stress which derails their efforts. Basically, use what works for you. =D
  • Whatever works for you. For some, going to a gym works best. For others, walking around their neighborhood is something they stick with. So, try both if you can and see what fits best into your life. I do both, I walk for my daily step count and I go to the gym for more intense exercise.
  • I'd say there is no good in worrying about it. People burn calories at different rates, and trying to compare two people is useless. Maybe he has a super fast metabolism (some people do, or they fidget a bunch, or they have naturally higher testosterone and build muscle easily) or maybe he has a stomach issue that tkeeps…
  • I know I pulled a muscle in my lower stomach during a workout and push ups or planks would aggravate it. Anything that activated that muscle would hurt. If it hurts during other core work that might b it
  • I'd simply suggest making sure you ignore the afterburn talk. I do an orange theory type of work out at another gym, and I've seen people try to add additional calories all day because they say you'll burn extra calories all day. Only add the calories for the work out, not any afterburn calories.
  • Do people underestimate my weight? Yes., But I'd guess it was mostly out of politeness. I also feel like I don't look as heavy as I am, but that is because I don't like my weight. I think it is easy to fool ourselves by doing that. I've always said ad felt that I carried weight well, so it was okay I was obese. Ive leaned…
  • If your steps are adding calories, be cautious about adding calories on top of that for a walk. You might end up overestimating. I'd suggest doing it one way for a few weeks and see if you're losing as much as you should be (assuming your food tracking is good). If you aren't losing enough then you are overestimating the…
  • $30 a month, plus 15 per kid for child care. That gives me access to all the classes (including the special ones) and I can bring a guest with me every visit.
  • The grass is always greener, hun. That's the way people are, we always want what we can't have. I am just over 5 foot, and I am no waif! I can't bat my eyelids and have men fall over themselves to help me. I can't wear just anything, since all my pants have to be hemmed or they drag on the ground and I destroy them.…
