  • I want to try to eat more raw foods. My husband makes his own raw organic juice for breakfast & lunch, and then eats a cooked meal for dinner. I want to try something like that, but I'm kind of nervous about vegetable juices- yuck. I need to step it up with exercise as well. I can't work out hard because of my back but…
  • Fridays are good for me too. Do you guys want to also post measurements? I just bought measuring tape and I've been terrified to use it.... this might give me a little butt kicking that I need. Just a thought.
  • I'll join! I'm 5'2" and 125.5 right now... when I joined MFP I was 130. My stomach is like a huge beer gut, all flab. I recently had spinal surgery so I can't do sit ups or crunches or anything like that, just cardio, but I'd still love to join. I'm sick to death of people telling me that I don't need to lose weight…
  • Howdy, husband!
  • I try to buy organic whenever I can, but it can be very expensive. For produce with a thicker skin (oranges, pineapples, avocados, bananas) I sometimes buy non organic, because I feel like the pesticides and other junk are concentrated in the skin (this is just my theory, I could be wrong, lol). The thin skinned stuff…
  • I can see how you could think it is written like that I guess. But to me, I like blunt & to the point writing. To each their own : )
  • I agree with BrendaLee. Nuts are a great work day snack. I prefer raw almonds. Nuts that are roasted aren't as healthy because most of their wonderful benefits are cooked away with the roasting. Other good ideas are dried/dehydrated fruit (though those can be high in calories), a banana, orange, multigrain cereal, grapes,…
  • I wanted to bump this thread to see how the raw food diet people are doing. I've tried going 100% raw, I was successful for about 3 months but it was too expensive for me to continue. I think it's a wonderful lifestyle though, if you can pull it off.
  • We try to use raw honey as a sweetener instead of anything artificial. I used to like agave nectar but now they are saying it may not be as healthy as you think... though I would use raw agave nectar over aspartame or sugar any day.
  • I agree, you have to find a way to see a doctor. Are there any Walgreens or CVS by you? They both have walk in clinics that are cheap and you can pay cash. They have nurse practitioners working but that's better than nothing. Save the $$ you were going to spend on antacids and go see a professional.
  • Oh I just thought of something, maybe you're lactose intolerant? Before I realized I was lactose intolerant I would wonder why I got horrible gas/cramping all the time. I realized I can't drink any cow milk, I can't eat butter or cream & some cheeses give me horrible pains too. I switched to Earth Balance for my 'butter'…
  • I'm sorry you're having these side effects! Are you eating a lot of meat? Sometimes it's more difficult for your body to break down nutrients from meat than from vegetables, maybe incorporate more fresh produce into your diet? It's hard to say without knowing your food diary. Personally if I were having those symptoms I'd…
  • Young coconut water is fabulous for you. If you don't like it alone you can add it to a smoothie.
  • Are you cooking with them, or taking them as a supplement? I think I'd go with coconut oil, either way.
  • Tempeh looks really interesting! Do you guys make your own? Is it difficult? I suck at cooking but I'm determined to get the hang of it.
  • I actually have Manitoba Harvest Hemp Pro 50. It doesn't really disintegrate well, so I haven't been using it. I guess I should make smoothies and add it. I sometimes put it in my salad dressing or pasta sauce.
  • Thanks, this all does help! I'm trying to make a grocery list right now so I'm trying to brainstorm ideas.
  • ...I should also add that I don't eat any dairy except small amounts of cheese. I'm lactose intolerant so I lose out on the protein from dairy.
  • I haven't made mixes yet but I like to work out to these albums: Weezer - Raditude The Faint - Blank Wave Arcade Misfits - Static Age The Adicts - Sound of Music I really need to make mixes but I loathe creating them, ugh.
  • You're welcome. Check this website out, it has some good information on it : http://www.foodintol.com/food_intolerance/stomach_bloating.htm I really wonder if I have a gluten intolerance as well.
  • Could it maybe be a food allergy of some sort? I am lactose intolerant and when I eat dairy my stomach bloats & gets bigger. My doctor told me that it's the most common cause of bloating.
  • Totally and wholeheartedly agree.
  • Hi all, I'm happy to have found this group! I'm 5'2" and when I began MFP I was 130 lbs. I'm down to 126.5 (which I suspect was mostly water weight, I'm not sure). I had spinal surgery in November '09 and I am still recovering, so my exercises are pretty lame. I can only walk on the treadmill, ride the stationary bike or…
  • Sorry, I guess I just don't see the point in even complaining about this. If that person is going through a hard time or whatever, don't you feel bad for creating this post complaining about them? I'm new to the site so maybe I don't understand.... but if I were the person you were complaining about and dedicating an…
  • If you are THAT bothered by one particular user's eating & logging habits, why not just delete them off your friends list? Problem solved.
  • I always heard that when you sweat you are also ridding your body of toxins. So sweating profusely is a good thing!
  • Any high fiber fruits & veggies. Apples & bananas work for me, but I know prunes work for many others. Psyllium Husk in your water or as a topper to cereal works very well too.
  • Thanks for the comments. How do I get a bodyfat percentage test? Does that have to be done at the doctor? I'm pretty broke, so I'm limited in what I can buy right now.
  • When I can't taste anything I try to take advantage of that and eat all the super healthy foods that I normally can't stand. Feel beter, I'm just getting over being sick myself.
  • Apple cider vinegar is wonderful and has all kinds of uses. My husband drank it daily for a while and felt great from it. I used to use it as a toner for my skin and it really evened out my complexion (dilute it a bit if you do that). What kind are you using? I read that one with the "mother" is best, we use Bragg's.
