You don't have to eat meat to do keto. There's eggs, protein powder, cheese, sour cream, full fat yogurt, HWC, butter, coconut oil, bone broth, fat bombs (suck on them?), avocado, nut butters, mayo, etc. If you really want meat, maybe you could handle ground beef? If you want to make it work, you'll make it work!

Listen to your body as well. If you feel good eating more protein, eat more protein. Fit_goat was spot on with the carb counting. Keep it 20g or below (total, not net) for the first couple weeks. You can let it creep up after you've adapted to find your tolerance, but keeping it low will help you adapt faster.

I would never include them as part of my daily diet, but every once in a while, I like to indulge in something. I need the treat mentally once in a while to keep myself going, and I don't want to re-feed on carbs. I love the foods for keto, but sometimes I want cake or pancakes (kept keto of course).

I spread PB on ice burg lettuce and called it a Peanut Butter Sandwich. No regrets. Added some sugar free jelly, and called it a PB&J sandwich. I've also mixed a chocolate fat bomb with bacon and called it chocolate covered bacon. This one didn't actually happen, but I contemplated it for a solid 5 minutes. I make a keto…

That sounds strangely delicious!.... wait stevia in the tea or on the pork rinds... I might have just embarrassed myself.

One of my students asked why I look smaller.... she hates my guts.

*I am no expert, and what I am about to say could be incorrect. I am going off of what I know.* When bulking, eating at a calorie surplus is key. You're trying to add mass. This means bulking adds muscle mass and fat mass. If you are lifting heavy, your muscles will grow from the healing of the tiny tears every time you…

I was actually talking about this with my boyfriend the other night! Weird! I'd want stuff that's been remade to be keto... like mac n' cheese or something.

...I've licked my plate.... Don't judge us plate lickers! But Dan, I do something similar! I'll buy a lot of meat every weekend and then package portion sizing into plastic bags and stick those in the freezer. After dinner, I pull out a new bag and stick it in the fridge for the next day. It's ready to cook for dinner,…

Where are the extra carbs coming from? Veggies? nuts? dairy? "low-carb" wraps/bread? If it's from a natural source, it's less likely to hinder progress. However, if you're reaching for pho-foods (i.e. low carb wraps/breads) that can be a slippery slope, and you should probably avoid them until you feel ready to incorporate…

Calories in general are all estimates. None of the numbers are perfect. Your body doesn't burn exactly the same number of calories every day. The readings taken from a calorimeter, while very close, are not perfect and can change with where and how a food was grown, raised, and processed. The point in counting and…

I've brought my own coconut oil to restaurants... It doesn't need to be refrigerated, so you could potentially pack a jar with you for the trip? Easy way to make sure you get the fat.

I'm sorry you got so sick! Maybe your body didn't know what to do with all the excess sugar and carbs it was not used to? Usually experiencing a situation like that means the body saw the food as poison and it's reaction was to get it out as quick as possible. While I have not had a "cheat" since going LCHF, I've actually…

I will have to try the pickles... I'm sometimes a fan

Artificial sugars do it for me. I have a little, like in a cup of coffee, or a fat bomb, but if I have too much... it's very uncomfortable.

I usually opt for a local burger place. I can control the carbs, and I've been known to either bring some coconut oil with me or ask for a side of butter... you can always add avocado, bacon, and eggs to burgers, but asking for the side of butter is worth it for the reaction

My main set back with trying to drop the lbs is emotional eating. I will recognize when I'm not hungry, but I will still want to eat something. Counting keeps me in check. If I have to log it, and I see how many calories it is, it helps me to stop the emotional eating. In the moment of the craving, it's very hard to stop…

If you don't shred the chicken and drain the extra sauce off, it probably won't add up to do many carbs. Maybe try to keep the carb count down the rest of the day so you have a few extra to play with?

Thanks for all the ideas! Tea and gum have helped! I think it's going to be a long struggle as its a lifetime habit I'm trying to change.

And this one too! A part of me wants to post this on the main forums and just slowly back away holding up a double bird... lol But this one had me Yessing too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU3GvRsFHqY

Generally, the first time you try to find your way into Ketosis, it takes about 6-8 weeks to fully adapt. However, you will probably feel good in about 1-3 weeks. If you've been in Ketosis for a while, over 6-8 weeks, it generally shouldn't take too long to find yourself back in Ketosis after a "cheat meal" or something of…

I'm been known to lick or drink my plate when there's left over oil/melted butter... I am not ashamed.

I count total carbs. It I counted net, I would start including things like quest bars in my diet, which, while delicious, are not the best food choice as they are highly processed. If I count total, I can't easily include artificial foods. This helps keep me on track more and focus on naturally occurring foods.
-
If possible, I'll use a separate pan for my food. That way I weight out my food, which is the same as the family, but it's cooked separately so I keep track of it.

Home made Chicken Soup with Shirataki Noodles (very low carb noodles, usually found in the fake meat section of the grocery store). If you feel up to it, you could make a faux low carb bread

It can also affect insulin sensitivity. Double edge sword. I've made BPFatBombs... Not a drink, but same effect. Basically I mix the 1 tbs butter, 1tbs coconut oil, 1 tbs HWC, and 1/4 serving protein powder in a blender and let harden in the fridge. Tastes good and high in fat. I've also tried the BPTea. It needs to be the…

I hate bullet proof coffee, so I do it with tea. Maybe this would be more appetizing to you. If you try it, blend the fats in hot water before adding the tea bag.

I knew for sure I was adapted when I could exercise again regularly. I can be a cardio queen if I want to be. By this I mean my endurance is very high, even if I don't necessarily train for it. While I was adapting, I was struggling to hit 20 minutes sometimes when 45 is a breeze for me. The process probably took about 3…
