I'm with ya! 37 and need to lose about 50 lbs...I have three kids (twins and a 5 y.o.) so I totally get the stressful, hectic stuff! You should add a profile pic and info so people know more about you :)

Started at 260 (after I gave birth to twins - highest was 277 when I was pregnant with them, but I don't think that counts), goal is 150...and I've been on this journey a year so far and only lost 45 of that...so I'm with you lady!

I had my daughter in 2009 (emergency c section) and got to a point where my tummy was in pretty good shape. Then I had twin boys in December 2013 (also c section due to one being breech) and I *dream* about tummy tucks on a daily basis now. I definitely have a ways to go to reach my goal (pre-baby #1) weight. But I've lost…

^^ Excellent advice. This whole thread in general might be one of the best I've come across. Really excellent, thoughtful advice here. Thanks to all who contributed. I've been stuck in a rut controlled by my food cravings/emotional eating patterns and this thread is really getting me thinking HARD about what I need to do.…

Hi! I'm in the process of getting fit again after having boy twins and a little girl, but I was in great shape pre-babies...what worked for me and what numerous trainers have told me to do is to have a small snack like a banana and a small handful of almonds with water pre-workout and then another small snack that is…

I had twin boys 6 months ago and gained 80 pounds throughout the pregnancy. My MD told me flat out that if I don't keep an accurate food log I won't lose weight. She said exercise is vital, but the amount of actual calories we take in will fool even the most well-intentioned person if they don't closely track them. I have…

Poor Kelcie. I know she didn't start this post to start crazy heated addiction debates! But hey, that's the internet for ya! :) Congrats on your journey, Kelcie.

If I didn't have 5 month old twins and a 5 yr old here I would look for one! I have several scholarly journal library links from my PsyD days I can find for you to search if you would like! Good point though -- just because I learned sugar changes brain chemistry doesn't mean you have to believe me. I didn't do the…

It's hard to differentiate behavior from neurology once certain ways of life become ingrained. From what I've learned, sugar itself is addictive. It actually changes the chemistry of our brains and causes some people to physiologically become addicted. But behavioral patterns are such a huge part of an addict's life...I…

YES! Totally agree! Saw the same behavior in NA...substitute addictions to fill the void...and I'm speaking from both personal and professional experience. :)

I'm not sure why, but this thread right here makes me happy.

^^ Yes! I'm a doctor (of clinical psychology) and also in NA since 2005 (with relapses between then and now). People die every day due to morbid obesity, heart attacks, diabetes, etc...many of these tragedies occur due to food addiction. It's no joke to use that word. Addicts' brains light up differently than non-addicts,…
