I added all kinds of meat back after three years of strict vegetarianism. I felt great... no issues.

My mom used it as anti-inflammatory for her arthritis at the urging of her rheumatologist. It ended up causing severe bleeding.

I carry 25-30 pounds of stuff in a bag for miles and miles, just so I can sleep outside in the dirt.

I hit my goal weight in May 2012 and have been there ever since. It took me over a year to lose the 62 pounds. All I did was walk more and make a -250/day calorie cut. I never felt hungry or deprived. Most days, I was still eating close to 2000 calories. It was very easy, I just had to be patient and consistent.

Geez - I am 100% aware that a massage isn't sexual foreplay, but some of the responses here are so unsympathetic in understanding that some people have a limited comfort zone when it comes to touch and the handling of their body. I get massages regularly and always specify female therapists only. I know therapists are…

Nine pounds in less than a month is NOT SLOW! I took 16 months to lose 63 pounds. Also... remind yourself that slow and steady wins the race. I hit my goal in May of 2012 and still have not gained anything back. All my prior attempts to lose weight involved crash dieting and speedy weight loss. When I followed…

I wouldn't worry about it. I get wings about once a month and I'll eat 8-12 of them in a sitting. I'm sure it's a ton of calories. I just use the Buffalo Wild Wings entry to estimate the calories and move on with life. Occasional splurges like that never slowed or stopped my weight loss. I lost 60+ pounds in 2011-12 and…

Unless eggs are well-mixed into/hidden in something, I just can't even. They smell like sulfur and it's creepy how they turn solid and gelatinous when they're heated.

I have two computers in my office, both of them are on adjustable standing desks. I never use that feature. Standing is uncomfortable and makes it harder for me to do the fine/detailed illustration work I do. Also, standing doesn't burn enough additional calories to make a different. And finally, I'd rather just get up and…

I was obese with a BMI of 35 more than 20 years ago. When I was 22, I weighed in at 236 pounds (I'm 5'9"). When I was 23, I lost 100 pounds. I managed to keep it off for a couple years before I started gaining again. While I did gain weight, I never became obese again - just 'overweight'. In 2011, I decided I was not ready…

Hmm... I'm a 135 pounds, female, 5'9", and 45 years old. I have a completely sedentary job and do moderate 45-60 minute workouts six days a week. I eat 2200-2400 to *maintain* my current weight. I backpack a lot in the summer. When I do that, I may cover 10-15 miles a day. I eat about 4,000-5,000 calories a day when I'm…

Lawson's Sip of Sunshine is excellent! If you ever get a chance to lay your hands on some of Fiddlehead's Mastermind, try it! It's in the same style as SoS, but I think it's even better! This summer we got to their brewery on a release day and got to try it super-fresh. That style of IPA is mindblowingly good when it's…

I love craft beer! I'm lucky enough to live in a small college town with four of its own small breweries. I love their stuff, but if I'm drinking bigger more well-known craft beers, some of my favorites are Westbrook's Mexican Cake, Hill Farmstead's Brother Soigne, Alchemist's Heady Topper, Firestone Walker's Parabola, any…

I go backpacking in the wilderness alone. Don't let Good Morning America fill you with fear. Yes... there are dangers, but statistics are on your side. It is highly likely you will be fine. Just be aware and have a reaction plan.

I think it probably doesn't matter or make that much of a difference one way or another.

You could eat a ton of rice and vegetables - they're (mostly) fat free and definitely gluten free. But definitely ask more questions. There are many different kinds of fat. Some types of fat are essential for life - find out more about your limitations before cutting it out completely. Generally humans need 25 grams of fat…

I took all my big clothes (sizes 16-20) to Goodwill back in 2012. It was scary and liberating, but I've never looked back.

I didn't change the way I ate when I was losing weight. I just changed the AMOUNT I ate. My early days on MFP were filled with ice cream, beer, pizza, burgers, jelly beans, wine... you get the picture. I lost 60(ish) pounds in 2011-12 and have been at my goal weight almost 5 years now.

It's just me and my husband, so most meals I cook for dinner give us two nights' worth of food. So, I don't have dinner leftovers for lunch. I usually do a big batch of cooking over the weekend, so I have good stuff for lunch all week. Now that the weather is cooler, soups and stews are a favorite. I make big pots that…

I only weigh in every few months. I go mainly on clothes-fit. I lost about 60 pounds in 2011 and have been maintaining ever since. My weight seems to stay within the same five pound range.

I think burgers and pizza are both healthy foods with valuable nutrients. I don't see why either must be villified. It's eating too much of anything that causes problems.

The moderation "plan" worked (still works) great for me! I lost 60 pounds in 2011 simply by doing a 250-400/daily cut from my TDEE. The weight came off slowly - it took me about a year. But five years later, I'm still at my goal weight. It was easy. I didn't stop eating any particular food (just less of it). Maintaining…

Actually... no - his health didn't take a beating. His bloodwork improved: http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/08/twinkie.diet.professor/ And while this article doesn't include the hard data, you can find it online. He also saw improvements in his blood pressure and very little change in glucose levels. I'm not advocating a…

Mine was about 40 points higher (the doctor called it 'high normal') when I was at my all-time low weight in 2012. I'm 6 pounds heavier now, but when I had my cholesterol checked a month ago, the reading was the best I've ever had in everything from HDL to LDL to triglycerides. The one change I know I've made to my diet…

I've been on maintenance for going on 5 years, after losing about 60 pounds from 2011 through early 2012. Losing was easy and maintaining has been easy. BUT... I took a very slow rate of weight loss. It took me around a year to lose the weight. I didn't diet, I made significant changes to my eating habits and activity…

I hit my goal weight at 40 (after losing about 60 pounds in about a year). I'm now 45 - I don't feel that I've had to work any harder or eat any less to maintain my current fitness level and weight. In fact, I think I watch my diet less and am more casual about workouts. I'm still consistent, but I've quit using a…

No -- you look so beautiful! When I was in my early 20's, I lost 100 pounds and many people - family, friends, even coworkers - asked me if I was sick, told me I looked gaunt, told me I was too skinny. I was 5'9" and about 145 lbs. My doctor told me I was an "ideal" weight for my height and told me losing the 100 pounds…
