  • I have a slight bit of scoliosis (nothing that you could notice in a fitted shirt) and i find that my back is better when i do a full range of core exercises, but more compound style ones (if that is the right phrase here) than isolation exercsies. I found that martial arts and boxing were amazing at streghtening my whole…
  • haha!! i also keep a stock of freddo bars. i have one at work every day after lunch, it really settles the cravings, along with a mug of redbush tea :-) although, i just ate a bag of maltesers (187 calories, got some 'spare' from my run yesterday!)
  • I have a serious saddle bag problem also! obviously a decrease in body fat helps, but I have been doing the 5x5 stronglifts, and the deep barbell squats have REALLY helped i think. would definately give them a go. Only been doing them for a few months but I have not been using a drastically heavy weight (42.5 kg at the mo,…
  • i also go straight to work from the gym. what works for me is as everybody else has said - pack bag the night before, lay out your gym clothes and also prep your lunch/snacks if required. We have a shower at work also, so I prefer to shower once i get to work. In my office i keep a set of shower toiletries, flip flops,…
  • you could throw in some fun songs from fight films - eye of the tiger - you're the best etc . my boxing coach used to do this years ago and everyone really enjoyed it!
  • when i was in my very slim days, i was out in a club on the dancefloor having a fab time, and a heavier woman came up to me. she actually pushed me and said 'you think you are so special because you are skinny' i leant over and said 'nope,i know that im special for many reasons' what i should have said is that if you boxed…
  • both sides of the story here: I am the oldest of 5 girls, the disadvantages being that with a large family there is less money to go around! There is very little (virtually none when i was growing up) individual attention from parents. my sisters would steal my stuff, we argued lots! i felt like I was given far too much…
  • i second the 'non linear' response! I used to get quit disheartened in the first few months as I would have several weeks where the scales wouldnt budge. I have noticed a pattern with me though - i will be at a stationary weight (fluctuating within a pound or so) for about 3-4 weeks, and then I would lose a few pounds over…
  • well, there is what i would actually like to do (stinger in the road, kick car as it passes, shoot out tyres?) and then there is what I would actually do, which is take down the number plate and report her to the police for unsafe driving!
  • I would actually stay away from cocoa butter and instead try rosehip seed oil, perhaps with a little pomegrante seed oil and helichrysum essention oil ( a bit stinky, but you get used to it!) these oils have all been shown to reduce scarring when applied to the skin. Use twice a day, and you will have better results with…
  • i saw some guys in the gym today doing deep barbell squats with about 80kg, and they had legs like noodles - i can only dream of legs that slim!! so as i girl, i am not too worried about turning into the hulk!
  • Thanks! i would feel a bit odd going by myself, but I dont know anybody who is actually doing it! Also, there is a good chance i might be a bit crap - i can run the distance no problem on a road, but i have never actually done it in mud and then stopped off on the way to electrocute myself and take an icy dip :-)
  • i like a combination of A and G :-) i like a man to be bulky (does not need to be ripped though) and have body hair!!
  • I am just shy of 5'6" and my goal would be to be about 125lb of lean muscle. However, i do not think that I have the willpower to acheive this goal, I have another 16lbs to go
  • I actually eat more than 1250, i eat about 1600 on average, but net calories is less due to exercise. even assuming that I have overestimated my calories burned (am just using MFP values for the jogging) and underestimate the calories eaten slightly, I would still have expected some sort of loss. Using the TDEE method…
  • congrats on your pregnancy :-) my experience was a little difference to yours i guess so may not be directly relevant. The only real symptom of pregnancy that I had was a MAJOR increase in appetite. The kind where I ate twice as much as i would on a normal day and would still be hungry. I tried to curb it for a month or so…
  • I live in a small village and go running through surrounding villages. it is expected that you acknowledge everybody regardless of their mode of transport! The trick however, is to not be too friendly and get sucked into a conversation. I usually say hi to other joggers but i try to stay away in case i drip sweat on them…
  • too many to list, and it depends upon the activity, but generally: lifting: simon says - pharoah monch one - metallica running: last resort - papa roach rebel yell - billy idol superstition - stevie wonder ante up - MOP basket case - green day smiling just thinking about them! now where's that ipod?.............
  • i love your 'money in a jar' approach!
  • i have a beautiful pale pink set of silk lingerie that I bought ages ago - when I am at my goal weight I shall see if my OH likes it ;-)
  • haha, i do look freakishly tall in the pic! I am normal height, as are my counter tops. I can only assume that it is due to my heels (would be 5'8" in them) and a 'less than pro' photographer (my slightly tipsy sister!) getting a weird angle
  • why has my profiel piccy chopped off my head?! I guess thats at least 6lbs gone then!!
  • Ah yes, the overestimating abilities of MFP exercise planner! i guess i will need to rethink my logging etc.
  • The thinner soled shoes are normally called minimalist shoes. They are preferred by people who like the 'barefoot' running experience without going full on barefoot. If you opt for this style though you must make sure that your technique is good, so forefoot landing, short stride length and higher cadence for speed. If you…

  • am on about my third week of SL, but my weights ar still low at the minute - 32.5 kg squat, 22.5 kg BP, 20 Kg OHP, and about 30Kg rows. have also been running in between.
  • I am towards the top end of the 'healthy' range for my height (if you believe that chart!) but I am more fat than muscle at the moment. I should have specified, I am trying to lose fat and add muscle :-)
  • I love some good manners in a man, but sometimes it seems it depends upon how you look!!! I was once dressed up very nicely (makeup, heels, fitted skirt etc) and dropped a few bits of shopping from my bag (the stuff rolled everywhere!) and 3 men stopped to help me pick things up. less than a few weeks later when I dropped…
  • thanks for all of the replies - i might just keep with the SL for the minute, and look into incorporating some of the curves butt ones later. its just hard to believe that I can get a good workout in the 20 mins it takes me to do this!
  • im only on my second week so my weights are not exactly heavy! I will be training tonight and will be doing the following: squats - 32.5kg, OHP - 20kg, barbell row - 27.5 kg. I am really enjoying doing the exercises, they are so much more interesting than the machines (which i never really liked anyway). I guess time will…
