This will be my first big goal since surgery, and I'm really looking forward to getting back on the bike! Let's get this thing going!

You're not the only one, and yeah a tape measure might be good. I'm not so sure that measuring throughout the day is so bad though, at least not for me. I have a scale, and check it many times a day. Watching my weight go up or down a few ounces or pounds throughout the day really makes me feel like I can see part of what…

Red heads, without a doubt.

Great to have you here at MFP! Three bits of advice from my own point of view, maybe it will help you: 1) track everything...it won't be what helps you lose weight, but it will help you see what things are causing the most damage to your plans, which will help you make great choices; 2) if you go over on calories…

Wat to go! I love seeing success like this, it helps keep me moving in the right direction too. Keep it up, we're all with you here!

There wasn't an OMG moment for me. I've kept track of exercise and food before, which I believe is a big key to weight loss. But, I'm lazy, so it never stuck. With MFP, I don't need to write things down, or look up nutritional information, or try to remember where my food diary from last week went.
-
Count me in on that! Not only do I play, it's where my wife and I met! Yeah, geeky, I know...
-
Welcome to MFP! As a long-time programmer myself, I know how difficult it can be to actually get moving...even harder to actually eat well! I've always wanted to just get the food as quickly as possible, and just get back to the machines. Good luck on your journey here, and in your profession!

Never throw in the towel. Every day is a new challenge, but so long as you don't give up, you *will* get there.

Coffee. I can't give it up, and to be honest I don't think I would ever want to try

Hello and welcome! This website really does make it easy to lose weight, and for me at least, it has taught me quite a bit about what I can eat and still feel good. Just don't get discouraged if you go over on calories now and then, use it as a way to learn. Glad you're on the journey with us!

What I've been trying lately (and works wonderfully) is to eat lower-calorie foods before going out. Like vegetables. Then when I'm out, I can still enjoy what I'm eating, but eat much less.
-
Hope this doesn't sound too intrusive...but maybe you could mention all of this to your boyfriend, ask him for help in reaching your goals? My wife supports me in anything I want to do, and I try very hard to do the same for her. The only thing stopping us is when we don't let each other know what we want.

Blue Man Group, Time to Start Helps get me motivated for just about anything really, but especially a long coding session. It has a great beat for faster typing!

What has helped me more than anything, is to get rid of all the snack foods I know I shouldn't be eating. There are food banks which takes unopened goods, so it doesn't go to waste. After that, start each weekend morning with a good, filling meal. That helps me reduce snacking by quite a bit.

From what I've read, you should try not to let your deficit go above 1000 Calories, for similar reasons to not having an intake of less than 1200 Calories...then again, I'm new to this, so that might not be right
-
Yeah, this is gonna hurt...I love it!

Finished! More challenges, please!

Hi back to ya from California, USA! I don't have any interesting stories (yet!) but love to hear some myself! Welcome to MFP!

Forget the scale, it is only an estimate and your weight will change throughout the day anyway. Your measurements are better, and those sound like an improvement to me! Keep up the good work

I would contact my local police, and give them the info. They would know best who to contact, and who to get the info to. What I would absolutely not do is confront the friend, or especially give the husband any info at all (his reaction could make matters much, much worse). This is a very sad situation, and there really…

250 eh? I can do that! Well...tomorrow I can anyway, still Sunday for me here  Be back with the results!
-
Welcome! Hope you love it here as much as I do. It really is a very helpful website, with lots of good people!
-
You're amazing, keep it up! And thank you for the progress pics, it really does help inspire and motivate lots of us (at least I know it does for me)!
-
Welcome! The best part of this site for me is that it makes recording what one eats incredibly easy. It also seems to have plenty of info in the database for your wii fit...although I'm doing EA Sports Active on PS3, so you'll have to see when you get in there  Good luck, and glad to have you here!

It is very possible for one wine to cause reactions and not others. There are some wines which cause me problems, others not so much. For me, it all depends on what the wine was made with besides grapes. Some fruits will cause me problems, like mango or papaya. It might also be possible that your deli accidentally…

Truly awesome! In all honesty, this really does make me very happy, and is incredibly encouraging for my own journey. Thank you for posting it!

My first week, I lost ten pounds. My diet and exercise have been aggressive, and my routine has not changed. But since that first week, I've lost between one and two pounds each week. The reason I have seen most often for this is water weight loss at the start. I really have no idea what the cause really is, but this…
