Monday morning folks! Warding off a nasty cold that is going around, or trying to. I seem to have dodged the worst of it. It is warming up again here, some anyway. I had quite a bit of reading to do catching up here, and good to see everyone! I have been trying out cooking of some new things; expanding my diet a little. I…

Well Carol, welcome back, kinda, sorta.. I am up for a December Challenge. You know Carol, I was looking at moving to Texas recently.. nope. Too blazing hot too long for this anti-freeze blooded Montana LOL!!!

Rock on Hammer!! Yes, I am still around. Been one heck of a stressful ride over the last 45 days that is for certain. I did stay on diet, mostly. I had one evening where I got a big pack of cookies from Costco, ate 3 of them with a glass of milk, and went all wonky with the sugar overload!! :D My version of a drinking…

Friday is here!! I am not sure why, but I am up 2# this week. My goal is to be under 220 by 1 October, and I am not sure I am going to make it. I am still ahead of where I was at the beginning of the month, yee haw!! I will have to keep a close eye. Winter is historically where I either stop losing weight, or slightly…

My wife made up a new meal last night and it was a HIT! We will make some changes going forward, but we all ate a bit too much it was so good. Take shredded chicken breast, layer fresh spinach over the top along with some sliced mushrooms. Top with Mozzerella Cheese, and bake for 30 minutes at 350. She served it with…

Heron, just keep at it. I am not sure I ever got my kicks exactly right. I am really "challenged". I learned to work within what I could do. I do not drink Coffee, but I do drink tea. When I have occasion to have a black tea, I will sometimes add cream. I still prefer my tea plain. Kilo, perhaps you could find this…

Had a great time hiking about the ghost town/mining camp yesterday. I went out to harvest the honey today and not a single frame in the super had honey in it. Their frames look good, but nothing for us this year. *Sad*. We love our high mountain honey as it tastes like summer all year long :D Way different than the typical…

Happy Saturday! Taking the family to explore a ghost town today. Maybe we will harvest the honey later depending on the time.

Hammer, good to see that you are doing better.. Sounds like you are doing pretty darn good there Howie. Today I reached 100 days of login to MFP! I never thought I would see that, and I can that ya'll for that one. Howie, I am good most weeks. Others may find that bi-weekly works better.

I put 2 hikes in today, 2.5 miles each, 42lb pack, and around 46 minutes each. I am not sure I am ready to do 2 of these every day yet, but it is getting easier. So, USPSA match this weekend results: 5th place in Production, 23rd of 47 in the overall. I am classified in D (lowest class), so I am still working my way up. I…

Kilo, I have done that using one of the vacuum sealers, but not with veggies cooked. I have only done it with things like cooked chicken (canned them too) and meat loaf. Chin up and press on. :D Hammer, my connection died and I did not get to put my dollar in. My wife's blood surgar does the same exact thing during the…

Defensive Pistol match yesterday, so LOTS of running around all day. My 13yo and 15yo soundly thrashed me at the match yesterday. I had a good day, just did not shoot at my normal level, so they both beat me, and good. I am up early today to head over to Missoula for a USPSA match. We shall see how I do :D Always weigh in…

I did another pack hike last evening. So 2.5 miles, 42lb pack, and done in 44 minutes. So that works out to 3.4mph average. It must be getting easier since I thought I was going at a nice leisurely pace. I figured 3.8mph or so. No, I don't have a HRM, although I was using the Bodyfit armband thing for over a year. It was…

Nice walk this morning in our fresh new snow! Dogs had a blast rolling in it.. ok most of the dogs. Lucy the Pit Bull pretty much stayed out of it :D Great for you guys on dropping the meds. My wife is still working to get off the last of hers.

YAY SNOW!!! I don't know how much MG got down in the valley; we got about and inch or so, and it is still snowing. Supposed to go through until tomorrow. I did my 42lb pack hike last night, and pushed it again. I just can't help my self :D I then took the dogs for their morning walk today. We shall see how it is this…

Very small snowflakes falling this morning on my hike. We are supposed to get a lot more in the next couple of days, yee haw!! Then back into the 70's next week.. Boo!! I did another 42lb pack hike last night for 2 miles. I did not push it as much, and cut it a wee bit short.

I am not quite sure how to put down "bullet casting" as an exercise for yesterday.. :D I will put 8pm EST down on my calendar for our chats. Howie, to me it is sort of like the whole carb thing. Some can do low fat, and some cannot. I found out years ago I am one that needs that fat (the good stuff). Like the whole…

Howie, over the years I have figured out that eating carbs, particularly processed carbs, to be detrimental to my health. Particularly the last few years, I was eating Tum's like they were breath mints, 6 at a shot. As soon as I eliminated the processed carbs that went away. Also, with my wife being a diabetic, carbs and…

Howie, in the evenings I can pretty much work in any day. Thanks to Mr Hammer's suggestion, I figured it was time to get with the program. Put on my ruck yesterday, at 42 pounds, and went for my normal 2.5 mile hike. Wow, did that up the burn a bit. I was able to keep an average of 3.5mph, which surprised me. I may do it…

Perhaps next time I can try it with my phone, as that should reduce the lag. I can always drive 10 miles down the road to get the link a little bit better too :D What can I say, we live 55 miles from town. One thing I will add when traveling. If I do end up at an eatery, I will ask about the Bleu Cheese dressing, but…

Howie, I am down with that idea. I am not sure how well my link did last night, and I know there are delays due to the long haul link that I use. I was going to PM this, then thought maybe a group hug... uhh... share would be more appropriate. One of the things that has saved us as a family in getting all the carbs/sugars…

Wednesday morning folks! They were talking snow again for today, but I don't think it will quite reach us. Bummer!! Dogs were moving a bit slow this morning. I think I wore them out a bit yesterday with the longer hike. High energy dogs my keester :D
-
Tuesday morning to ya'll!! Tinder, that sounds like a fantastic hike!! Low carb Cheesecake sounds good too. The dogs yanked me good with the leashes yesterday going after a Pine Martin. Now I have pulled muscles on one side.. I have to get these healed up as I have a match on Saturday.
-
Monday!! Dang near got run over by an inattentive driver this morning. The best part was seeing a Pine Martin and watching it play peek a boo with the dogs. :D

Last day ladies and gentlemen. I puttered around yesterday doing a bunch of stuff that I need nice weather for. At least it has finally cooled down to the low 70's so I am not worried about heat stroke!! LOL

Well I am a doofus. Please use the other post that was started with the correct date for today. I wish the board would let me edit that.

Howie, I completely agree with that statement. My entire family is weird too!! The woods are so still when we are out there. Something primal about going out at -20 to -30, skiing into the back woods, ice fishing, and then doing minimal camping. We don't take tents, but build snow bunkers, which work very well. Best of…

Glorious FRIDAY everyone!! Temps are still a bit warm during the day here (in the low 80's), but the nights are getting down to the low 40's and even the 30's, so I am happy. I can't wait to start camping once the snow flies and the bugs are gone. :D I seem to be at a sticking point again, having stayed at the same weight…

Up early for Thursday check-in. Taking my wife in for some surgery this morning (nothing big). Hmm, stress waiting in the hospital while it is done is not a good formula for eating correctly. The days have warmed back up to the low 80's ugh!!! It was 38 the other morning and we were loving it. A couple more weeks and we…

Wednesday morning! Not much to report. Did a walk at noon yesterday since the roads had dried out well, and then again this morning. Hopefully by Friday I will be back up to 5 miles a day in two sessions.
