Just wanted to add another suggestion that no one had mentioned. It could be an undiagnosed medical issue. Based on what you said you eat it doesn't sound like you are overeating but without seeing your diary I can't say for sure. Have you had thyroid testing done? Other hormone related issues can cause weight problems as…

Babies/embryos are very well protected. A jumping exercise should not cause problems during conception/early pregnancy unless you are receiving trauma to your abdomen. I was doing Jillian Michaels DVDs along with running when I got pregnant. I am now 34 weeks and baby is good. As another mentioned if you are cutting…

Understanding that this is journey and not something that happens without struggle. There are ups and downs like gaining weight, losing weight, eating too much, eating too little, etc but if you keep working at it and make adjustments as you go you can reach your goals.

So from what I read in the article (ignoring the commentary from the journalist) those who conducted the study aren't saying that calories aren't important they are just trying to say composition of calories is important as well. I think calories are important but quality of the calories is important too. That's not a…

Very good point.

You can also delete the entry that was wrong under "edit previous entries" if you haven't already

Our bodies can be a bit tricky after losing baby. When I was nursing my second the weight was stubborn and I just maintained for a while. I am 8 months pregnant with baby 3 and plan to nurse again. I would say keep logging and moving. You will be able to find a balance between the # to lose weight and also not hurt your…

I understand what you mean when you say clean but want to warn you are probably going to get a lot of responses asking what is clean and a bunch of responses that vary from humorous to sarcastic to borderline rude. "Clean Eating" is a touchy subject here. See the forum below for an example. Groups are a better place to ask…

I don't think it's in appropriate. I don't think it's very helpful but it's not appropriate.

I think these were responses to my comment so I will answer. I could have chosen my words better or explained it more when I said some people don't know how to exercise. I didn't mean that people don't know how to walk or run for example. I meant that some people don't know something as simple as a 20 minute walk can help…

It is true that other sites are worse but it doesn't make it okay. I agree some do think a different opinion is an attack and some people take things too personally. However, that does not mean that there are not rude people/posts. Just to be clear, I didn't think the first part of your post was rude just a bit blunt but I…

While I do think OP is taking some of the comments too personally I think you are being a bit hard on him and other new users. Calling people cyberbabies is uncalled for. For many people it takes time to learn to meal prep and how to do other things that will assist in weight loss. When starting out some people need step…

Though there are rude/sarcastic/mean people who feel the need to post unhelpful responses I believe most people are coming from a good place. It is hard to tell someone's tone in a typed message so I try to keep an open mind about their intentions. For example the person saying you don't need a book probably though they…

I usually get my recipes online or from pinterest but here's a few books I found on Amazon. I haven't personally used any of them. I just pulled a few that had good reviews. Saving Dinner: The Menus, Recipes, and Shopping Lists to Bring Your Family Back to the Table 7-Day Menu Planner For Dummies The Fresh 20:…

This is a good response and a good way to explain why clean eating needs to be done with research and not just following "rules" arbitrarily. I wish every rebuttal to clean eating was explained in the way you did it.

I understand your point. Everything is processed to a point but I think most definitions are referring to pre-packaged foods like chips, tv dinners, etc. I think that some people (not saying you specifically) tend to think that there is only one right way to do things (such as only "eat clean" or "eat all foods and only…

It may not have any benefits/negative impact for you one way or another but for some it does. I agree that you shouldn't cut out foods that you enjoy just because but I don't see anything wrong with trying to eat fresher, less packaged foods. Not here to debate the definition of "clean eating" but the general concept is…

Depending on your preferences/macro needs, Steel Cut Oats tend to be more nutrient dense. Steel cut oats usually have more fiber and protein which may help you feel full longer. Instant oats have added sugar and salt. That's fine if it fits your macros but using steel cut is an easy way to cut back on salt and sugar.

Sorry you are facing such a tough situation. Parenting is hard and things never seem to go smoothly/as planned. A schedule for the time you are home is what I've found most helpful. That combined with doing as much prep (meals, clothes, etc) ahead of time can help. Here are some things I do to make life easier that save a…

If you do not hydrate properly your body will hold on to fluids. Here's how one article put it: "It may seem counterintuitive, but your body also tends to store water when you're dehydrated: If you're not drinking enough, your salt/water ratio becomes unbalanced and your body will hang on to any extra fluids until the…

I compare losing weight to childbirth. When you are going through it, it can be difficult and painful but once it's done the happiness you feel can make your forget how difficult it was. Also those who are at a higher weight can consume more calories and will burn more calories in the beginning of their weight loss…

I am 30 weeks. You can add me. There is also a group called moms with babies and several of those ladies are very supportive.

The exercises you recommended are good core exercises that will help but she is not skinny fat. Her belly is flat and if she is underweight she should not lose more lbs. OP I think your photo looks great. Core exercises to fix posture and strengthen your midsection should help. If you still think there is an issue you…

The first few weeks of logging food feels like a chore but then it become a habit. I don't even think about it anymore. I just do it. If you have a smart phone you can use the barcode scanner which will make it faster. Also, I've found that after a couple weeks most of the foods I eat are on my list and I can just check…

Thanks for clarifying. I was trying to keep it simple using BMR #'s but didn't properly explain.
-
True I didn't word it clearly enough. Many new people don't understand BMR and TDEE which is why I said if you didn't burn that extra calories doing exercise. But I see how it could be confusing so thanks for clarifying.
-
Agree. Also you would have to eat roughly an extra 3000 calories a day on top of maintenance to gain 6 lbs in one week so unless you at that much it probably isn't fat gain.
-
If you are of age (at least 18) this is tricky because your BMR is roughly 1,543 calories. That means if you eat around 1543 calories per day you will maintain your current weight. In theory if you cut your calories to 1293 per day you would lose 1/2lb per week however most sites recommend men do not go below 1500…
