They're Nike (can't remember the name of them) and were pretty expensive so hoping it's not the trainers. Thank you about the surgery. My knee will have plenty of time to recover after that!
-
Thank you! Trying to get an appointment and will listen to whatever they say. Don't want to cause any serious damage!
-
Will definitely learn from this - think I was overdoing it because I've been quite nervous about this. Glad you managed to get something good out of your injury!
-
Thank you! I've ordered some tape, it's arriving tomorrow so hopefully that will help. Also been icing it and keeping it elevated. Fingers crossed!
-
Thank you! Hadn't thought about volunteering. Will be jealous of all the other runners but at least I'd still get to be part of the day!
-
Thank you! Am definitely going to give it a good rest and try to get an appointment with my osteopath this week. Plenty of ice, foam rolling and anti-inflammatories and hope for the best. If I have to walk it then I guess I just have to accept it!
-
Walking it might be my only option. I am waiting for a date for an operation which is why it's even harder to just suck it up and miss the race! Definitely won't be in a fit state to run another half marathon for a long time after my op!
-
I suspected IT band as well. Am going to try everything I can, including the exercises and will just have to assess how I feel on Sunday morning. Thanks!
-
Am definitely going to rest it. Got a couple suggestions to try but will just have to see how I feel on Sunday. Such a shame, my first proper running injury and I do it just before what would have been my first half marathon!
-
I'm trying to get an appointment now. Thank you! Hopefully it's nothing too serious!
-
I'm waiting to hear back from my osteopath to see if he can squeeze me in this week. Definitely can't hurt to get a professional opinion so will see what he says and then decide what to do on Sunday based on that. Thank you!

I have to have a major operation in May which is probably going to take me out for the rest of the year which is why I wanted to do this event so much. I think I've just been overdoing it because I wanted to do it so much. Lesson learned!
-
My hips do feel very tight so think it could be related to that as well. Thank you, will definitely go and get it checked out!
-
Will give this a go, thanks!
-
Ouch that sounds very painful, hope you’re ok now! Rest is probably the wisest choice, will also go and get it checked out. Thanks!
-
Going to try and find a physio now, thank you!
-
It’s still not right today so will def get it checked out, thanks!
-
Thank you, will do! Don’t follow a set programme at the moment, just tend to go to the gym and work something different each time. Thinking about getting a personal trainer though to help me write up a proper plan!
-
Thanks for the suggestions everyone - definitely have a few new brands to try out. Good suggestion about the band size, I find my sports bras always feel tight on me and that's no doubt why I'm getting chafing!
-
I did actually sign up for a 5km colour run today. It's not a proper race as it has obstacles but it looks like a lot of fun so thought it could help break through that mental hurdle of thinking running is difficult/painful/boring!
-
Thanks everyone, so nice to hear other people's stories. I think it is a bit of a mental hurdle to be honest. When I first started running I couldn't go more than 30 seconds without stopping and the other day I ran 1 hour 5 minutes. Might be slow but it's huge progress if I look at it like that. Positive thinking - I can…

The reason I try to stick to those calories is because my metabolism is terrible. I had blood tests about a year ago because of unexplained weight gain and despite trying everything nothing shifts it. Tests came back fine so I started playing around with my calorie intake. I found that 1300/1400 even with exercise is what…

Just doing a home made one. I'll tend to do my run first - anything from 30 minutes to an hour. I do one session of HIIT training a week on the treadmill too. Then I'll do an hour of weights focusing on either back and biceps, chest and triceps or legs.
-
I've seen a few people talk about this, what's IIFYM?
-
Ok done
-
Yeah sure. Can't work out how to do it though?
-
I eat anything between 1,300 and 1,700 calories a day. I do a lot of running too as I'm training for a half marathon - surely that can't be a calorie surplus?
-
Thanks, will stop wasting my money on them then! Any recommendations for the best way of measuring body fat? I know you can get callipers but apparently it's easy to use them incorrectly if you don't know what you're doing.
-
I was just telling someone the other day how great I feel following this diet! What kind of foods do you eat then? I'm slowly but surely running out of ideas and tend to eat very similar foods day in and day out!

I understand things like boiled new potatoes aren't bad for you as in unhealthy but I'm trying the low carb thing as a last resort really. I've always had to work harder than the average person to maintain my weight which I don't understand because I have always been active and nobody else in my family struggles. I've…
