Yeah, sugar alcohols do it to me too. Years ago when I did Atkins, I would get the sugar free candy. Oh my. SF Jelly Bellys were the worst. I definitely steer clear of sugar alcohols as much as possible - no need for more tummy issues! I've had to give up protein bars since I haven't been able to find any that aren't…

I love the GFB! Some awesome recipes. As for finding bread, it's super hard in my opinion. In general, I don't like it. There are times I break down and get some from Whole Foods or a local baker. I do like the kinnikinnick brand hot dog buns and hamburger buns. But for the most part, I try to avoid the stuff because it…

It's taken a long time for my mom to get on board with my issues. She now is a lot better about asking me what foods I can have and she seems a bit excited to find me gf products when I visit her. Granted most I find nasty, but I appreciate the effort she has been putting into it more recently. It takes time and I think we…

I haven't paid attention to the news lately, but if you remember a few years ago when there was a huge E. coli break out there had been spinach involved. Subway stopped carrying it at that point in time as well. So, it may be a health issue.

Thanks for the input jecka. Did you notice the drop sets helping you gain strength more quickly?

crackers, plain, on sandwiches - panini style.

Oooh that does sound good! A better version of some no bake peanut butter cornflake "cookies" my stepdad makes that are yums, except that those have corn syrup. Asil76 - what were your ratios of the other ingredients?

Honestly, as long as you are using quality ingredients, I wouldn't change much up. Use real natural butter, not margarine, for example. Fresh natural cream. I would add some awesome veggies though - broccoli, asparagus, brussel sprouts, wilted spinach or kale, roasted root veggies (turnips, parsnips, celery root) which you…

That is definitely a good sign! You both are paying attention to what your body has to say! :)

It is good advice, but not a fail safe. Oftentimes they won't list other offensive ingredients like malt syrup in the allergens info. It's obnoxious. But, I do agree that it is one quick way of checking before you labor through the ingredients list. Although, I saw a brand of granola (and I'm not trying to start a…

All that dried fruit is sugar. Plus, they add sugar to dried fruit. That's where you get the "I just ate candy" sensation. Sometimes things seem like they are healthy or have that reputation, but in reality they aren't all that awesome for us. But trail mix can be pretty tasty! My only "advice" would be to up the protein…

I think it kind of depends on how strict you have to be. Like other posters have said, without the GF certification and the generic names, it could be contaminated. If you aren't celiac and just trying to avoid gluten, I'd consider it basically gf. But, in reality, all those ingredients sound nasty (esp the preservatives),…

I've found other flavors like Fruit Punch, Orange Creamcicle... just go to one of those nutrition shops and they have 'em. Oh, I do really like the Jay Robb Orange Creamcicle flavor. No sugar - stevia sweetened. So yummy!

Thanks! I'll have to look for them. Hopefully they have some big jars. It's a sack of oats. haha And I have a bag of rapadura.

Stopping by for a bump and sharing that I took a pickling class this week. It was based on this stuff: perfectpickler.com and the inventor guy was the speaker. Interesting stuff. Happy canning everyone!

I hate those times that it just seems like your jaw is the only thing that wants to exercise. Being out in the garden may help you. I know it helps for me to have a distraction. Perhaps try adding a bit of protein to make the cake more satiating? Sometimes the sugar can make the desire to munch stronger. Anyway, I can…

i'll slice it semi-thin, brush with olive oil, salt & pepper. Toss on grill until it's almost like chips. Yums!

Love it! haha On another note, little things work too, like take a walk over to your coworker's desk instead of email or calling. Long route to the potty. Stairs not elevator. You can also get stationary pedals for under your desk.

The biggest thing that has helped me is to pay attention to my body. It took a little work to get back in touch with my body and what was full vs overfull and hungry vs starving. But once I learned my body's responses, I don't have as much issue with the amounts I eat. And, my binge moments aren't as bad as they were…

Regardless of what you're doing, IMO BMI is junk. Like someone else said, check body fat %. BMI is an interesting stat, but there are other things you can follow that are more helpful.

Only if it's the fresh picked things! Man, I can tell the difference between the junk at the store and the fresh stuff from local farmers or my garden. It's crazy how amazing fresh natural foods are!
-
Just because it's organic doesn't mean it isn't "junk." Organic is just one way of growing and regulating food. So, I hope you don't confuse organic with healthy. You can still get calorie dense foods non-nutritive foods that are organic. (Like organic style goldfish type crackers, or potato chips, or cookies...or cake.)…

I, too, have been very curious about this. I naturally end up moving towards eating fewer times per day if I don't have a structured eating schedule (like when I'm at work and want a break, for example). Yet, "they" say that you shouldn't eat one or two meals per day. I dunno. But, I'm very curious about what people have…

     Grokette, you make me giggle. And on a side note, I originally thought this was going to be something from Goya brand ethnic foods. haha

QFT. It's sad that labeling doesn't reflect the importance of K in your diet.

sweet potatoes, coconut water... Usually if you start adding in fresh veggies and fruits - more than processed foods, your K intake will rise significantly.

Depends on what's causing the pain. If it's severe, please contact your physician or a clinic for medical attention. Make sure it isn't strep (feels like a wad of bubble gum in throat, may see white bumps) or something else. Otherwise, there are some throat numbing sprays you can get. Sip on a shot of vodka/rum/tequila/et…

I've been told you shouldn't use a pressure cooker, something to do with the thickness of the metal. I have a pressure canner that I bought and can use as a pressure cooker, but I wouldn't go the other direction.

Super excited! Ordered 2 bushels of apples and half a bushel of concord grapes. I might add more grapes to my order since it would be nice to have more juice around. Anyway, I'll have a factory in my kitchen next week. Applesauce, grape jelly and juice!

Well, the pearsauce adventure went well. 10 pints, 2 quarts. I hope everything turns out ok when we open the jars. I'm not sure if bf put the rings on tight enough, so they leaked in the water bath. *crosses fingers*
