I couldn't run for toffee a few months ago, finding even a 100m to be taxing! However, I can now run a 5k without walking, and although I won't be winning any time awards, I am extremely proud that I have got this far. I'm actually enjoying running too now which I never thought I'd hear myself say. My method was simple:…

How amazingly cool, big time impressed. :O)

You used to pump air in before riding as a kid, that's a step too many!! Incidentally you must be mad to wear headphones while road cycling, you need all the senses I find to avoid the many idiots that grace our roads. I usually have Samsung s3 on speaker for music and only on quiet country roads. A friend of mine wears…

I love a Southern Irish accent Don't really find any accents annoying to be honest.

As long as you accept that all MFP is is simply a logging tool and that YOU are completely accountable for sticking with your daily calories that MFP dictates (or you can dictate if you wish), then it will work... It's a scientific certainty! I did my first 4-5 months on here without any real exercise done and lost nearly…

I'm sorry, that's asking a little too much of me! :O)
-
I imagine so, but best thing to do is invest in a heart rate monitor, you can pick them up reasonably cheaply for a decent model and irrespective of whether MFP have a category for the exercise you will always know your strength or cardio going in is accurate.

Essex here, feel free to add, nearly a year on MFP. :)

Best advise is to get on out there and do it, taking things slowly (no big hills for example!) by doing a couple of miles, see how it goes and gradually build it up from there. Don't think there is a need to do any preliminary work, though I am no doctor or can offer any sound medical advice! I've had minor knee issues…

I feel the cold! I've never felt the cold! I've taken 80% of my wardrobe to the charity shop or ebay! I have pointy knees - LOL! Two hats that didn't fit me now do! I mean WTF. I now look good in lycra (I cycle) not fat in lycra!

A mirror and buying new clothing tend to be my ways of seeing progress, amongst the normal observational things. The scale is just a figure to slap on here now and again. :) To give you an idea of recent 'revelations': I am more slim than my brother now, that has NEVER happened I am more slim than one of my best friends,…

Storm Corrosion's first album. Awesome collaboration between lead singer of Opeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt and Steve Wilson (Porcupine Tree). Makes me want to give up the day job and simply write music, wish I could earn money that way.

I have the Essex 100 (so glamorous sounding eh?) and the Etape Penines in October, in amongst all of that I have a Triathlon local to me and then the big one in Hyde Park in September! Myself and friends usually do some form of insane ride per year, previously tackling the coast to coast and Lands End to London. I want to…

I will 2nd the need to stay away from Halfords, the MTB I got from there had to be replaced twice as the pedal threading had been damaged by whomever put them on!! I mean, how does that even happen! The pedal eventually fell off again on the last day of our C2C ride too, so I'm totally convinced that someone just didn't…

I did the Coast to Coast (Whitehaven to Sunderland) on a rubbish Halfords MTB while I was 18.5 stone. I couldn't get the highest gear on the bloomin' thing either, but it held up absolutely fine (I did walk a few of the hills though!) - MTB are sturdy things, but then I moved onto a very light road bike while still the…

I've been here about 10 months, it has served me well, if you want the male perspective add me. :O)

Set myself a 2000 calorie limit... Ate literally what I wanted within that daily total... Did no exercise other than daily cycle to station (2 miles each way) for the first 5 months of doing this. I'm now training for a triathlon and a few LOOOOONG cycle rides so my exercise has kicked in. I have plateaued for 2 months…

This time last year no, now, probably yes, I am starting to like my body and how it looks. Would more likely need to see some £££s though. ;)

My name is Keith Ellis (duh!), however 'The' is shrouded in mystery and intrigue!!!

Water has no calorie content, coffee does albeit negligible. I guess you could count tea as water since there is no calorie content to most teas (as far as I know), however, I personally prefer to log tea, coffee, herbal teas etc separately to give better clarity in my day. I also don't log water which probably drives the…
