You can still eat potatoes and pasta but lay off the sweet stuff. That or slowly lower your added sugar intake. Make it past two weeks and you'll be fine.

It might be the same amount of calories but at least you won't be at a higher risk for cancer for eating all that crap. :D

Eat food but not too much, mostly plants. Water. Sleep. Walk. In other words, whole foods mostly fruits and veggies with some meat but avoid overeating (eat just enough to get rid of hunger). Get enough sleep and walk a lot for low impact exercise. That and surround yourself with a positive, strong support system, reduce…

You can probably use just about any containers. The important thing is to fill up all the crevices of the container with food, so the bigger the size, the more calorie heavy your meal will be, depending on what you put in it. Alternately, calculate the calories for your main items first based on what you want it to be, and…

Mostly plant based omnivore?

I asked my parents what they think is healthier: traditional Vietnamese diet or american diet. They claim Vietnamese. :# Before moving to the USA, they were lean and had minimal health problems. After living here for a few years, it was the start of weight gain, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels.…

Yay! Bento! I'm a bento-er too; well, occasionally. It's fun and you really do get to "eat with your eyes." :) That and the box automatically helps you restrict the amount of calories. I'm maintaining right now but I still make bento occasionally because it's just pretty to look at. :#…

Publicity stunt. The more controversial, the better. :#

Korean beef bowl: http://damndelicious.net/2013/07/07/korean-beef-bowl/ Veggies: carrots with hummus or cauliflower cheese Plus, I made a batch of bacon baked beans earlier today so that will last a few nights. My diet hasn't been varying lately.

A raw egg and cheese is good in ramen too. Kimchi is a fun addition. Nori/seaweed gives a nice fishy taste. My favorite though would have to be the peanut butter sriracha sauce combo.

Basic Seasonings and cooking oils: Sugar Salt pepper Lemon/lemon juice Olive oil Butter Garlic (powder and raw) Onion (powder and raw) ***garlic and onion can go with just about any dish so it's a must have, imo! Chicken or vegetable stock for soups or healthy saute (carton or canned). Your choice of vegetables. Potatoes,…

I like honey walnut shrimp but it's not exactly the best option. :#

Usually when I do less, I'm less hungry anyways so on those days, I feel like I eat less as well. Go based on hunger signals. That's how I've been maintaining for the past four months.

I eat avocados everyday and I feel fine. :# They are helpful for regulating hormones which is why they are on my weekly grocery list. Maybe you might have some type of intolerance towards them. If you really want to test it out, eat them plain by themselves and see how you feel... It could also be the food combinations…

Tamago kake gohan is a normal dish in Japan. It consists of rice, a raw egg, and soy sauce. Mix and eat with nori/seaweed sheets. Yumm!! But all my friends, coworkers and family look at me very suspiciously whenever I tell them about it. Also, I recently discovered peanut butter sriracha ramen. <3

Ooo that sounds interesting! I'm gonna try it.

When I'm sick, I listen to my body. If I don't feel like eating or exercising, I won't. This happens around the time I get my period too. Being sick is temporary; you don't need to push yourself. Eat good nutrient dense foods, drink lots of liquid and get lots of sleep. You can always continue your regimen after you get…

Well, if you define healthy in terms of longest living centenarians, they have a few similar eating habits somewhere along the lines of cooking and eating whole foods (veggies, fruits, roots, meat, seafood, dairy, few processed foods), but not too much (limit calorie intake/avoid overeating) and eating mostly (not all)…

I eat loads of fruit everyday. Bananas, apples, papaya and berries. I also eat a large salad everyday too or some type of greens. Romaine lettuce, arugula... With avocado (good fats) as well. Pretty much regular daily now, sometimes going more than once per day too. Oh and I have to add, I don't take supplements either.…

Excellent response. :)

Almond milk is not very thick. It's watery and can leave a weird aftertaste. It's low calorie and lots of nutrients are added since the processing procedures basically kills a lot of nutrients from the almonds themselves. If you're switching from cow milk which is fatty, I recommend soy milk first. It's thicker and has…

Acai berry green tea! Earl grey tea with sweet condensed milk and splash of soy milk is probably my favorite right now though.

I don't understand why there needs to be yet another thread on this argument.

Broccoli is so popular. For me, hmmm... Vegetable: Can vegetable group include roots? If it does, taro is my favorite. If it doesn't, I guess I'll choose Napa cabbage, mustard greens and daikon radish because they all can be pickled to make my favorite kimchi, Vietnamese sour mustard greens soup and Japanese style pickled…

I usually make my breakfast the night before and just heat it up in the morning and leave. It might be bean or lentil soup, rice with veggie or meat, maybe an egg spinach cheese wrap... But on nights when I'm lazy, I bake a sweet potato and leave for next morning. Or I pack a salad composing of leafy greens, nuts, grapes…

Definitely sweets, including sugary cereals! Instead, I replace them with frozen berries and bananas so I can make smoothies instead. Frozen berries are expensive but they provide way more nutrients and antioxidants than any processed cookies and cakes and I'm more likely satisfied with one smoothie. I also buy high…
