I add them to my smoothies.

in terms of weight control, because diet sodas have 0 calories they do not add to your daily caloric intake, obviously. They may be a welcome variety from water. The claim that they make you gain weight is due to the fact that they are high in added sugar. Sugar makes you crave more sugar. So it is normal for people to…

When I think of snack I think of something you don't have to prepare so to me that means nuts, greek yogurt, protein bars/shakes (I'm trying to discover snacks as well). If you have a little bit of time to "prepare" something but don't want to "cook" then a smoothie is a great way to add protein. Just mix as many of your…

one glass of water doesn't stop me from being hungry. Certainly doesn't stop cravings for a particular food. But I have noticed that drinking water throughout the day helps reduce my appetite. If only for the reason that it's something else to focus on.

@Maddalen101, I drink 72+ ounces of water per day not including exercise water (I don't always log it). My fat is currently at 20% ot daily calories. I think in the coming weeks I will bump it up to 25% to see if there is a difference in satiety. I'm not sure about the protein intake because I've heard to either raise it…

@LexiMelo, I'm sort of eating back my exercise calories in that MFP recommends I eat 1,300 for weight loss by I have it set intentionally higher at 1,500 to account for the calories I'm going to eat back. This is not necessarily in one day, I may eat 1,500 two days but only work out and burn 400-600 calories on one of…

Your body does differentiate between the source of sugar it ingests. See this article below. http://www.livestrong.com/article/533337-fruit-sugar-vs-other-sugars/ Also, don't remember where the article is, but everyone knows there's a difference between complex and refined carbs and how your body metabolizes them. Carbs…

Sorry thought I opened it but I guess I forgot to hit save. It is public now. Thanks!

Omg size 6-8? I'd LOVE to be that size. I'm 5'6" and size 8-10 and my BMI is around 24% so if I'm not considered overweight, neither are you! Your doctor's suggestion of 800-1,200 calories is too low. As others have mentioned, this is the recommendation for someone who needs to lose 50+ lbs. Aim for 1,200-1,500. Find out…

Sounds like a huge hassle and waste of time and seems flawed as other people have mentioned. I'd log 75-100%. Easy rule to follow. If you are obsessing over the difference of 1 tablespoon vs 1/2 of a tablespoon of olive oil...then you are obsessing and that is not a healthy relationship with food. Just eyeball what you…

Way to go ladies. That is an awesome story and fantastic progress!

Honestly (and this may be sad), I'd say online communities such as MFP, Livestrong and Instagram. My boyfriend is sort of my personal trainer but more of just a gym buddy really. I do a lot of the gym on my own and have rarely gone to his gym recently. He supports me in theory and with exercise. But since he is bulking and…

I record my weight once a week on Thursdays. I might weigh myself an additional 1-2 times in between out of curiosity but I know whatever change I see is just daily fluctuations. I may not lose any weight Tuesday-Tuesday (which causes a panic) but I will lose Thursday-Thursday and since I started my journey on a Thursday,…

As others have mentioned, protein shakes, as well as ANY other food, can be fattening if you don't account for the calories and macros. I use Six Star Whey Isolate in Decadent Chocolate which has about 1g carb, 0g fat and 30g of protein and I mix it with either water or skim milk (if I need more carbs that day). I…

I bought the Polar FT4 lightly used on eBay. Works great. You set it up entering your age, gender, height, weight and language. It will track your calories burned during steady state cardio (no HRM is reliable for HIIT cardio or weight lifting but I still use it simply to compare one day over another). You can the ability…

Hello ladies, You can add me. I was doing 1,200/day previously and tracking my food on Livestrong.com. I have only recently started tracking my food on MFP and I've bumped my calories up to 1,500 to be more appropriate with my TDEE and also because I'm trying to tone up a bit. I track EVERYTHING and weigh ALL of my food…

I was good this weekend. I literally sat on the couch and got caught up with Game of Thrones all weekend except on Friday night when I went out for drinks with friends (I had a burger that I didn't plan on having as well as a few drinks). I was able to track Saturday and Sunday and hit my macros/calories as I literally…

1.) Agree with what everyone said, 600 cals is dangerously unhealthy and you risk gaining some of that back. I believe it is possible. Don't understand how you had the energy to function but won't repeat what others said any further. 2.) Am I the only person who thought "trolling" especially on page two where OP posts…

I've gone to Workout Anytime as a guest several times (to the point I think the management might tell me to join soon and I just might, but not while it's free for me). They have many locations but I have only ever been to the one on Whitlock Avenue. The people are very friendly and I see a very diverse group from the…

that's amazing OP and you are very pretty.

let us see that new sexy tummy :-P just kidding. But on a serious note that is AMAZING. now, as someone mentioned....slow down a little.

You need to find a new doctor. A good doctor listens to your issues and doesn't pass judgment. They can be a confidant and should direct you to the proper expert and resources if the matter is outside of their expertise. A general physician is good to have for just general information and recommendations. For something…

I know this may not be the response you are looking for...but a lot of my friends know I'm trying to lose weight therefore if I do go out I try not to drink or maybe I'll take 2 shots (more if they are free). My friends don't pressure me because they don't want to hear the lecture that drinks are "empty calories"...which…

I graduated from a nice university 3.5 years ago and a required fitness class I took my sophomore year was the first time good/bad cholersterol, reps/sets, etc were introduced to me. And even then, the instructor never really got very deep into macronutrients, metabolic processes, reading food labels, etc. It was mostly…

Try a protein shake. I use Six Star Whey Protein Isolate in the Decadent Chocolate flavor. One scoop is 30g of protein, 0g fat and about 1g carb. I can't think of anything that will give you BOTH protein and fat with no carbs (maybe some whole eggs but watch the cholesterol and sodium). Most things that have fat have…

I agree with others that I don't have "cheat days" but instead "cheat meals" and perhaps maybe more than once a week such as order Chinese for dinner Saturday and eat the left overs on Sunday. I never have more than 2 in a week however. I try to keep my portions low depending on the food (the Chinese food has a lot of…

how dare you do that to me :-( lol
