  • @Mellie2fit2quit those cheesecakes look so simple to make.
  • I have been reading but I guess pigs don't really eat grass as their primary source of nutrition. So what I mean is organic/pastured bacon.
  • I would not necessarily say common but definitely not unheard of. Some people try it and they really have to force themselves to create a fasting window but, on the other hand, you have people that are doing it unintentionally because they are simply not hungry. Some people incorporate it to break plateaus and some people…
  • That would be devastating for me! Does that include all coconut products or just the oil? Also, for those using coconut oil in your coffee with little else (in terms of fat), do you prefer MCT or EVCO? I use MCT but I also add other sources of fat, butter and HWC. I wonder how much of a difference it would make if I did…
  • I have been debating buying a grease jar with incorporated straining. I got VERY close yesterday but I decided Amazon has earned enough money from me this week (I have a serious addiction to Amazon!). I'm going to start using a mason jar and a mesh strainer for now.
  • I love fat bombs. I have to be careful though because I can be tempted to eat more than I should and replace an entire meal with them which is what @Sunny_Bunny_ is referring to. I am diligent to work them into my daily intake only when coupled with proper nutrition. They really help me to not feel deprived.…
  • I so badly want to post a link to the article in the MF but I am scared
  • Ok so it is probably unlikely that my boyfriend will get into ketosis at 75g net. I want to start him there or even do 100g just to introduce him to low carb and to develop his craving for fat and protein. Over time I will see if he is willing to go lower to maybe 50g.
  • Very interesting. I'm going to keep my eye on it.
  • I would like a little clarification about macros and what it will take for someone to be in ketosis. I have been doing the 30g net carbs and 1500 kcal per day for myself and get into ketosis no problem. For my boyfriend who will be eating 2000-2600 calories per day, would 75g NET get him into ketosis? (I'm pretty certain…
  • Omg yes. I can't give up greek yogurt with a little bit of berries. Even though the brand ofgreek yogurt I use is the best I have seen on the market for the fat:carb ratio, it's remarkable the world of difference my BPC makes for my satiety (and my digestion) compared to the yogurt. My other typical weekday breakfast is…
  • Anybody know of a good brand of grass-fed, nitrate-free bacon? I remember reading on KetoDiet app about nitrates in bacon not being a really big concern but I'm not really sure if that's the case or not. I use a brand called Wright but I really haven't looked into the quality of it.
  • @cstehansen For the test that you got done to show you your vitamin deficiencies, what is the time period that it measures? Does it just measure the past few days, a week, a month? @HairTie1 that's a smart way for eating. However, for me, I usually meal prep on Sundays and then another night later during the week like…
  • I think we need a thread "Definitive Guide to Macro and Micro Nutrients" that in order from fat (including o3 and o6), protein and carbs all the way down to magnesium, sodium, potassium, vitamins A-Z lists the best food sources for such nutrients. Does anyone know if something like that exists? Perhaps on Reddit or another…
  • I'm a huge chocoholic and dark chocolate sweetened with Stevia has been everything. I get the brand Lily's but there are tons of other brands out there. Stevia is a natural sweetener so it perfectly fine on Paleo. It is zero calorie when it liquid form but if you get it in a powder then it is mixed with a filler and it…
  • Thanks everyone who responded. Really great advice in this entire thread. @KnitOrMiss you continue to be such an amazing and supportive friend. I love your analogies and trying to relate it back to his profession. That will help me explain it to him in terms that he will understand better! I never thought about comparing…
  • *I don't agree with what OP is claiming*. However, you are missing what she is saying. She is not saying "Not drinking ACV when you drink water can be harmful" but the other way around "Not diluting ACV with water and drinking straight ACV and lemon juice can be harmful. It must be taken with water." I hear from a lot of…
  • There are some friends I don't hear from at all and that's ok with me. If their diaries are still active I can take a peek or I can give them encouragement if perhaps they are not active because they fell off the wagon but eventually they decide to hop back on. I have a ton of non-lchf friends from before I was lchf, I'm…
  • I typically count. I'm trying not to count for a while with a few exceptions particularly around trying new recipes or eating at recipes. I would have no idea how much I'm consuming if I have never ate it before. But for my typical tried and true recipes, my meals day in and day out then I'm just trusting that I'm choosing…
  • Hi just curious. This hail storm that hit your house. This was in Texas? I'm so sorry to hear about your house and all the stress it has caused you. Also very insightful how that added stress had such a huge impact.
  • I have been there! Nothing is worse than when you are ravenous or you have been craving this one recipe that has been pinned on your Pinterest for so long, only to make it and it turns out bad. What are you left to eat? I've had a good number of recipes that did not turn out right. I'm getting into the habit now of cooking…
  • Fitness: Good shoes. Dumbell, kettlebell and bosu balls. I use weighted machines as well but I can make some killer circuits with those. Seconds Pro interval/circuit app. Good music. Diet: My avocado slicer. Tubberware/storage containers. My Keurig coffee maker, Ninja Blender, food processor, spiralizer, and instapot. My…
  • working but getting ready to get off
  • I should have never popped into this thread. I have been curious about the science behind refeeds. I feel there is a lot of bro-science and not actual solid data. I haven't incorporated much exercise at this point. In fact when I was doing CICO I was exercising but after I started keto, I slowly stopped exercising because…
  • @cstehansen thanks I'm going to watch this.
  • Would we consider the scale at the doctor's office more accurate? My scale at home is very consistent with the readings and has a similar reading to the doctor's office type scales. I would be sad to learn if my scale is underestimating my weight by 5 lbs! But as far as day in and day out progress, because it is consistent…
  • I don't know about weight loss but I know many people that take some with or just before consuming a lot of veggies. These are people that have digestive problems and they say the ACV helps with the fiber.
  • All of this info and more is in the low carber daily group. Configure you MFP for net carbs: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10057456/so-which-is-it-total-carbs-or-net-carbs I'm not sure if the group is private. You might have to join before you can see the discussion.
  • @jonmdelong keep up the good work. As others have mentioned you are not stalling. Perhaps you're comparing your results to others who report 15+ lbs the first month, a lot of which is from water. Everyone's body is different and remember, if you have less to lose then you are going to lose it slower.
