  • @lemurcat12 not my first response but then when people say you absolutely need to consume carbs and you can't sustain a sugar-free diet for long then I have to check them.
  • Again, this ^^^^^
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8uSv6OgHJE Start the video at 24:10. You do not need to consume dietary sugar, or any carbs for that matter, to sustain brain function. (I would not recommend not consuming ANY carbs because you still need nutrient diversity, there are many zero-carbers out there that are healthy with the…
  • I haven't tested my ketones in a while but I just purchased more ketostix and even a blood reader as well simply because I'm interested in the patterns but I know not to hold them to too high regard. One thing I wanted to point out is that your ketones will read moderate to high while you are first starting out. Until you…
  • Thanks. I just watched the whole video.
  • I love a lot of recipes that call for shredded cheese. Would it be better if I got a block of cheese and shredded it my self?
  • Almond flour is so expensive! Lack of prepackaged and healthy snack options, especially stuff that doesn't need to be stored in the fridge. Pretty much can't eat anything in a vending machine except the packages of nuts. But I guess that's good because I would be spending more money. My snacks all pretty much include…
  • I peeked my head into the MF the past few days (a mistake). I was looking at a thread of someone saying they want to try giving up sugar and then a few people attacking them saying "it's impossible to give up sugar, if you do, your brain will shut down. That's not a lifestyle you can sustain. You'll eventually go back to…
  • Just be like me and have coconut (MCT) oil, butter AND HWC. Win win win if you ask me.
  • I've been having REALLY bad constipation. Starting this week I'm eliminating cheese from my diet for 2-3 weeks. If that doesn't work then, one at a time for 2-3 weeks, I'm cutting all dairy except butter, increasing my magnesium, eliminating nuts and seeds, increasing my veggie variety, eating more fermented foods.
  • While 20 lbs is aggressive, depending on how much weight you have to loose it is doable. Let me first say that you are going to lose water weight mostly (25-50% of it will be water). My advice is to do a very low carb, high fat, ketogenic diet. This group is all about low carb. This group is all about low carb high fat…
  • Your body needs glucose which is a form of sugar. What you are saying is sort of misleading. You CAN give up sugar including added sugar and fruits but your brain still needs to receive a little glucose. However, you can receive this glucose from the carbohydrates (they all breakdown to glucose minus fiber) and from other…
  • Happy birthday! Also, so glad to hear about your journey and your success with lessening your joint paint and losing weight! Way to go!
  • Exactly why with very low carb, ketogenic diets we do not eat much fruit. Pretty much blueberries, raspberries and blackberries and that's about it. Others if your remaining macros allow for such fruit. But fruits with high levels of sugar like bananas, pineapple and even strawberries are pretty much completely a no.
  • I do LCHF so sugar is an absolute no no for me. I use liquid Stevia a lot, some people can't stand the taste but to me it's the best tasting sweetening. I'll also occasionally use Erythritol and Swerve in baking or sauce recipes depending on if a recipe calls for it.
  • I haven't tested this but I think my body is more tolerant of HWC and yogurt but I think my biggest issue is cheese. I'm not sure about sour cream. So I'm really going to have to approach this by eliminating one thing at a time. Probably start with cheese but continue to consume HWC in BPC and sauces, and yogurt. Do each…
  • Unfortunately with the whole work thing...I don't know for the life of me how to use a traditional coffee pot with actual beans that we have at the office. I only use a Keurig hehe. I don't have one of those at work so I think if I want coffee I'm going to need to get instant coffee packets.
  • I would take others' suggestions about supplementation and/or increasing calorie limit. It's not that high fat and moderate protein is bad for your hair, it is quite the opposite. Your hair is made of protein so consuming more protein is good for your hair. You can also try protein treatments which you can purchase (look…
  • I will try this. I have never done SS in the microwave but I have in the oven and I also just bought an instant pot which will be fast as well.
  • Usually my high fat, low carb breakfast sustains me until lunch and then my high fat, low carb lunch sustains me until dinner. This was not the case when I did a low fat diet. But to answer your question, if I do need an extra snack sometime during the day I will eat: - Salted and roasted pepitas (pumpkin seeds, they taste…
  • If I have a lot of time 2-3 slices of organic, sugar-free bacon, 2 egg omlette fried in bacon grease with cheese, diced onions and peppers. If I have some time, 2-3 slices of organic, sugar-free bacon, 2 eggs fried in bacon grease. If I have less time, 1/2 serving full fat Greek plain, non-sweetened yogurt with 30g each…
  • Darnit I meant EVCO. I edited my post, it original said EVOO which would probably be unpleasant!
  • That sounds good. I didn't know if the oil from the SDT jar had a ton of hidden carbs in it or not. If so, what I was trying to say is I could get the dry packages of the SDT, cook with them for the flavor, and then eat around or pick out the tomatoes. I think I might try to make some sort of infused oil if I will get a…
  • That's good to know. Thanks.
  • btw I really do think there needs to be a better name for this. I immediately knew what was meant when I read "shark week", however, "shark week" is also a week-long event on the Discovery channel all about shark attacks and the infamous moving Sharknado. So many guys hear "shark week" and think "oh yay, a thread about…
  • My mood is great on keto but my periods are the worst. Not only are they several weeks late, but the cramping and cravings are UNBEARABLE. I haven't really been able to maintain a keto diet for longer than a month because of it.
