Ha, we call your suspenders "garters". They come in ladies version (garter belt) or sock garters for men (wrap around the calf, but not worn much anymore, unless hipsters do that, lol).

Hmm, don't remember. But now I want to go through old photo albums and find pictures of my parents' 70s/early80s decor. I know we had dark wood paneled walls, too. And green carpet in the bathroom.

Lol, I loved our macrame owl so much, my mom found an owl vest/pullover/jumper for me. It was more like the early 80s, and it was outdated, but I rocked that sweater. Another difference, our grade school uniforms were called jumpers. It was like a knee length dress with bib suspenders attached (white blouse worn under it).…

Ugh. Yes, and no matter what you called them, children across the globe were dressed in those hideous things. Stripes, plaids, and paisleys (or the lucky child in an inoffensive solid) in lovely shades of harvest gold, avocado, and sunburnt sienna and orange. We had a matching macrame owl hanging on the wall :D

Sounds like interesting fun :D

Food related: a big hunk of meat that Americans (and others) call a roast can also be referred to as a joint in some areas of UK (I think my FB friend is in Scotland). He kept talking about this "joint" he bought, and I'm all like, mmmmkay....thinking he's going to do drugs, lol.

Oh, we grill, too. I leave the bbqing to professionals.
-
Although in the South and SW US (particularly Texas, they own this, apparently), BBQ means cooking meat outdoors on huge pits (even dug out into the ground) for a long time over wood smoke. Those little barbies/grills are for "grilling" (fast cooking over charcoal or propane fire).

It's a pantry if it's a floor to ceiling cupboard. If it's just top cabinets (above the counter/bench, then it's just called the cupboard/cabinet). But, pantries are not that common in the US, at least i the homes/apartments I've been in. Oh, another one: apartments/condo in the US = flats in the UK.
-
Don't you call the flat work surface in a kitchen the benchtop, @Christine_72 ? Im the US, a bench is something one sits on at a park or a person has in his workshop/toolshed for woodworking or fixing things, lol. Edit, the kitchen surface is a counter in the US, which I suppose makes zero sense for a name, too lol.

Yep. (US/UK): fries/chips, but chips/crisps. How about pants/trousers but underwear/pants. Silly differences that could confuse tourists, lol.

Yup ;) I eat at least a pound of beef daily. And a bunch of eggs, butter, and chicken thighs. And it's so amazing that you have access to raising and hunting your own food, OP!

I think Tapatío is better than Cholula (Williams969 comes out with fists up, lol, but runs back under her rock). I know I'm late to the holiday office party, but no bean chili (Butter Bob's recipe is great) is always a hit. Non keto peeps love it, and makes a good chip dip, too, if mixed with cream cheese. Needs a crock…

Same one meal option only (I'm the cook of the house). 6 members, ages 7 to 76, all with different energy needs. They get the same foods, but in the appropriate portion. If they don't like what's served, they can go hungry, eat leftovers from the fridge or make a PB&J.

Right? It was from my mother in law, too. I cried, as she told me she sees how I do so much for her (she has several health issues, and I help her daily). She told me I deserve to feel like and be treated like a Queen. This was a big deal.

Up to 138.6lbs this morning. My average weight prior was holding steady in the 132-ish range. No sweat. Clearly, I over indulged, as I had planned, but due to experience (and science), we know feasting weight gains are not permanent fat gains (no way I could physically consume nearly 25,000 calories in a couple days, lol.…

Eggs and milk? Dern tootin' that a protein health shake. Drink yer protein, dang it!! Dem gainz don't make themselves, yo!
-
I'm not sure. But I do know I'm drinking a lot of them. I got a beautiful, giant bottle of Grey Goose and crystal martini glasses, a new martini shaker, and cheese stuffed olives. This thing isn't going to drink itself, lol.

That's right. I make goals and reach for the stars :D

Well, clearly you need to eat more of something. If you're unwilling to up your fats (I'm assumimg you don't want more nuts or seeds? Although IMO, that would be the easiest without adding too much bulk/volume), your next best "calorie bang" would be starchy roots, grains (bread, pasta also), legumes, and tubers. Or more…

I tracked Christmas 2014 for amusement. Hit 4000+ estimated (probably forgot most of the booze and drunken snacking, so probably closer to 4500-5000). I impressed myself, as a slim, lightly active lady who typically only needs 1600-2000 on any given day. :)
-
Not tracking until New Year's. I over indulge for Christmas Eve and Christmas, and make smart choices and portion control until 1 Jan. Too many exciting family memories made this week to worry about the minutiae of calorie/macro counting. I walked my dog and followed my youngest around on the scooter Santa brought.…

Me! Lol, Christmas Eve dinner only gave me a 2lb/1kg gain this morning. Hmm, gotta top that today. And I will, as I already ate a month's worth of carbs for breakfast :D . I'm a low carber, so there's gonna be big water gains.

We had turkey with all the fixins tonight (mash, stuffing, gravy, rolls). Tomorrow is brisket and ribs with homemade cornbread and mac and cheese. Boxing Day will be beef loin roast with roasted veggies and baby red potatoes.
-
I was contemplating a hike in the mountains or at Red Rock Canyon. Rain is happening though :( No way I can get my family to go out in that, lol. Maybe for New Year's.
-
We do! We moved to Las Vegas from the northern Midwest of the US, where local produce was only available/cheap for a couple weeks a year (Wisconsin is all about the corn, hay, and dairy cows. Well, there's apples and cranberries there, too, but I don't like them).
-
I only buy melons in season. I know you're in Australia, OP, so I'm guessing they should be in season now, or very soon. But, that's too expensive, IMO. Or I'm spoiled by living very close to California and Mexico, where those are abundantly available. Watermelon $0.29/lb and $0.59/lb for cantaloupe/other melons are the…

Hell no! I'm eating turkey, brisket, and a holiday roast. All. Of. It. Our family celebrates all the blessings we received over this last year during this last week of the year. And, yeah, we do it with festive and indulgent foods.

You "idiots" who dare venture to the main boards to share advice saved me from years of undernourishment, carb addiction with binge behavior, and damaged health. So, a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to you idiots ;) I love you all <3

5'7" 40F SW 161lbs CW 131lbs GW 127-132lbs range Current goals are fitness and strength training related. I'm satisfied where I'm at, but would be thrilled if my training shaves an inch off my waist and hips and reduces my body fat a point or two.
