I was skinny most of my life and ate whatever I wanted, including lots of junk food (not good for me, i know...). So I credit that to a fast metabolism and staying fairly active. Once I hit 40ish, wow, that changed. I am still active and eat whatever I want, but in much smaller amounts.

41, would like to lose about 5 lbs, focusing on body composition right now, open diary, friend request sent.

That's awesome that you were so dedicated!

I grew up eating dessert too and still eat it, usually two meals a day. But I've learned to just eat a small portion and walk away. Everything in moderation...

I used to fit Old Navy jeans but since they keep changing and "new and improving" things, I can't wear any of their jeans at all :grumble:

I have a couple older pairs of levis that I love except they're too long. Totally depends on the styling.

I have a very hard time finding jeans that fit as well. Not only am I short at just over 5'1", but I have a big butt compared to my waist so there's always the gaping issue. The only jeans that work for me are the Gap long and lean which are more of a mid rise. I should add they seem to come in different styles b/c some…

I joined a gym for $10/mo and go there once or twice a week for some motivation and cardio, but have been building up a gym at home as well. No excuses any day of the week  I like having the option to work out alone or if I'm dragging, I get motivated by working out around others who are working out.

Stronglifts is a good way to build up gradually as you can start low if you like. There's an app and also someone who summed it up on here to make it alot easier to figure out: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/560459-stronglifts-5x5-summary

I've been confused about all this for awhile too. So many opinions and choices!:noway: After joining on here about a year and a half ago, I lost 10lbs within 4 months and basically did lots of cardio and some strength training and have been at the same spot for over a year now. I had started at 1200 calories and was eating…

I'd be happy to look 32 from afar  I'm actually heading on 42.

babyblooz, 42?

I used to be a cardio bunny, now focusing on strength training but make sure to fit in at least two cardio sessions during the week, mostly to clear my head. It really makes a big difference for me and I love that post cardio high!

Morning 5K turkey trot, then eat whatever I want the rest of the day! Thanksgiving's only once a year...it's not going to de-rail the other 364!

Gap Long & Lean jeans are almost the only fit of any brand that don't majorly gape in the back for me. Also some of the Levi's 515.

Stronglifts is a great program to start out and there's a link someone put together on here that sums it up and makes it much more understandable: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/560459-stronglifts-5x5-summary I have the app on my phone which makes it simple!

I'm only on my 4th week but love it! I like that it tells me exactly what to do and it's fun trying to lift more than the previous workouts.

Check out the Stronglifts program. There's a link on here where a woman summarized it up since the pdf is a bit hard to muddle through. I'll include the link here for you: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/560459-stronglifts-5x5-summary

My sons are 8 & 11 and are getting muddier now than they did as toddlers, which was pretty muddy. Let boys be boys and just make sure he has a place to take off his clothes before he tromps the mud through the house. If he's muddy, it means he's having some good "clean" fun, as opposed to just sitting in front of…

I'm 5' 1.25" and am 40. Most of my adult life I weighed between 105-108 until I got very sick with an intestinal infection in my mid 30's and was down to around 90 lbs and felt awful and weak. After I got better and could eat again, I quickly went up to 135lbs. So last year at 39, I lost 10 lbs on this site and was down to…
